Objective:No standard strategy for diagnosis and management of positive surgical margin(PSM)and local recurrence after partial nephrectomy(PN)are reported in *** review aims to provide an overview of the current strategies and further perspectives on this patient ***:A non-systematic review of the literature was *** research included the most updated articles(about the last 10 years).Results:Techniques for diagnosing PSMs during PN include intraoperative frozen section,imprinting cytology,and other specific *** clear evidence is reported about these *** PSM management,active surveillance with a combination of imaging and laboratory evaluation is the first option line followed by *** local recurrence management,surgery is the primary curative approach when possible but it may be technically difficult due to anatomy resultant from previous *** this scenario,thermal ablation(TA)may have the potential to circumvent these limitations representing a less invasive *** surgery represents a valid option;six studies analyzed the outcomes of nephrectomy on local recurrence after PN with three of these focused on robotic ***all,complication rates of salvage surgery are higher compared to TA but ablation presents a higher recurrence rate up to 25%of cases that can often be managed with repeat ***:Controversy still exists surrounding the best strategy for management and diagnosis of patients with PSMs or local recurrence after *** surveillance is likely to be the optimal first-line management option for most patients with *** and salvage surgery both represent valid options in patients with local recurrence after ***,salvage PN and radical nephrectomy have fewer recurrences but are associated with a higher complication rate compared to *** this scenario,robotic surgery plays an important role in improving salvage PN and radical nephrectom

Objective:The role of lymph node dissection(LND)is still controversial in patients with renal cell carcinoma undergoing *** aimed to provide a comprehensive review of the literature about the effect of LND on survival,prognosis,surgical outcomes,as well as patient selection and available LND ***:Recent literature(from January 2011 to December 2021)was assessed through PubMed and MEDLINE databases.A narrative review of most relevant articles was ***:The frequencies in which LNDs are being carried out are decreasing due to an increase in minimally invasive and nephron sparing ***,randomized clinical trials and meta-analyses failed to show any survival advantage of LND versus no ***,retrospective studies suggest a survival benefit of LND in high-risk patients(bulky tumors,T3-4 stage,and cN1 patients).Moreover,extended LND might provide important staging information,which could be of interest for adjuvant treatment ***:No level 1 evidence of any survival advantage deriving from LND is currently available in ***,the role of LND is limited to staging ***,low grade evidence suggests a possible role of LND in high-risk *** clinical trials are warranted to corroborate these findings.

Characterization of Cu–Ti powder metallurgical materials

Powder metallurgical Cu-Ti alloys with different titanium additions produced by hot pressing were characterized by optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis, and hardness, wear and bending tests. The addition of titanium to copper caused the formation of different intermetallic layers around titanium particles. The titanium content of the intermetallics decreased from the center of the particle to the copper matrix. The hardness, wear resistance, and bending strength of the materials increased with increasing Ti content, whereas strain in the bending test decreased. Worn surface analyses showed that different wear mechanisms were active during the wear test of specimens with different chemical compositions. Changes in the properties of the materials with titanium addition were explained by the high hardness of different Cu-Ti intermetallic phases.

Numerical investigation of seismic performance of high modulus columns under earthquake loading

This paper presents the result of two-dimensional fi nite element modeling studies in order to investigate the seismic behavior of high modulus columns in liquefi able soil. Particular attention was paid to the shear stress reduction mechanism of the high modulus columns and the shear strain distribution between soil and columns during earthquake motion. Numerical analyses were performed using a nonlinear elasto-plastic model in Plaxis 2016. The reliability of the numerical simulations was verifi ed through the results of a centrifuge test model designed to investigate the contribution of high modulus columns in liquefaction mitigation. The capability of numerical simulations was assessed primarily through comparison of predicted acceleration-time histories, pore water pressures, and displacements with the measured counterparts. The results of the numerical analysis showed that the presence of the columns did not reduce seismic shear stresses in the soil when compared to the unimproved soil condition and pure shear behavior between soil and column did not develop as expected in the current design methodology.

This paper proposes an energy management system(EMS)for the real-time operation of a pilot stochastic and dynamic microgrid on a university campus in Malta consisting of a diesel generator,photovoltaic panels,and *** objective is to minimize the total daily operation costs,which include the degradation cost of batteries,the cost of energy bought from the main grid,the fuel cost of the diesel generator,and the emission *** optimization problem is modeled as a finite Markov decision process(MDP)by combining network and technical constraints,and Q-learning algorithm is adopted to solve the sequential decision *** proposed algorithm decomposes a multi-stage mixed-integer nonlinear programming(MINLP)problem into a series of single-stage problems so that each subproblem can be solved by using Bellman’s *** prove the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm,three case studies are taken into consideration:(1)minimizing the daily energy cost;(2)minimizing the emission cost;(3)minimizing the daily energy cost and emission cost ***,each case is operated under different battery operation conditions to investigate the battery ***,performance comparisons are carried out with a conventional Qlearning algorithm.

Physical and Mechanical Properties of PP Composites based on Different Types of Lignocellulosic Fillers

The presents preparation and characterization of different types of lignocellulosic fillers(pine wood sawdust/walnut shell flour/black rice husk powder) reinforced polypropylene composites were presented. The effect of MAPP as coupling agent(4 wt%) on the physical and mechanical properties was also investigated. Polypropylene composites were prepared at different rates of filler/matrix(wt%) by using extrusion(for melt blending) and hot compression molding process. Maximum values of tensile and flexural strength were obtained as 26.1 and 43.4 MPa, respectively, whereas the elongation at break value was 4.11% at 10% pine wood sawdust reinforced PP. Tensile and flexural modulus of composites reached the maximum values as 3855 and 3633 MPa with the composite of 30% walnut shell flour reinforced PP. Characterization of composites was carried out by using tensile test, flexural test, FT-IR, and SEM.
