This contribution presents a novel wear dependent virtual flow rate sensor for single stage single lobe progressing cavity pumps. We study the wear-induced material loss of the pump components and the impact of this material loss on the volumetric efficiency. The results are combined with an established backflow model to implement a backflow calculation procedure that is adaptive to wear. We use a laboratory test setup with a highly abrasive fluid and operate a pump from new to worn condition to validate our approach. The obtained measurement data show that the presented virtual sensor is capable of calculating the flow rate of a pump being subject to wear during its regular operation.

Nitric oxide(NO)is an essential reactive oxygen species and a signal molecule in plants.Although several studies have proposed the occurrence of oxidative NO production,only reductive routes for NO production,such as the nitrate(NO_(3)^(-))-upper-reductase pathway,have been evidenced to date in land plants.However,plants grown axenically with ammonium as the sole source of nitrogen exhibit contents of nitrite and NO3−,evidencing the existence of a metabolic pathway for oxidative production of NO.We hypothesized that oximes,such as indole-3-acetaldoxime(IAOx),a precursor to indole-3-acetic acid,are intermediate oxidation products in NO synthesis.We detected the production of NO from IAOx and other oximes catalyzed by peroxidase(POD)enzyme using both 4-amino-5-methylamino-2′,7′-difluorescein fluorescence and chemiluminescence.flavins stimulated the reaction,while superoxide dismutase inhibited it.Interestingly,mouse NO synthase can also use IAOx to produce NO at a lower rate than POD.We provided a full mechanism for POD-dependent NO production from IAOx consistent with the experimental data and supported by density functional theory calculations.We showed that the addition of IAOx to extracts from Medicago truncatula increased the in vitro production of NO,while in vivo supplementation of IAOx and other oximes increased the number of lateral roots,as shown for NO donors,and a more than 10-fold increase in IAOx dehydratase expression.furthermore,we found that in vivo supplementation of IAOx increased NO production in Arabidopsis thaliana wild-type plants,while prx33-34 mutant plants,defective in POD33-34,had reduced production.Our data show that the release of NO by IAOx,as well as its auxinic effect,explain the superroot phenotype.Collectively,our study reveals that plants produce NO utilizing diverse molecules such as oximes,POD,and flavins,which are widely distributed in the plant kingdom,thus introducing a long-awaited oxidative pathway to NO production in plants.This knowledge has essential implications for und

The use of topology optimization in structural design under dynamic excitation is becoming more prevalent in the literature.While many such applications utilize frequency or time domain formulations,relatively few consider stochastic dynamic excitations.This paper presents an efficient and compact code called TopSTO for structural topology optimization considering stationary stochastic dynamic loading using a method derived from random vibration theory.The theory,described in conjunction with the implementation in the provided code,is illustrated for a seismically excited building.This work demonstrates the efficiency of the approach in terms of both the computational resources and minimal amount of code required.This code is intended to serve as a baseline for understanding the theory and implementation of this topology optimization approach and as a foundation for additional applications and developments.

A recent research article published in Science by Ritter et al.reported that endosomal sorting complexes required for transport(ESCRT)proteins mediate repair of lesions in the cell membrane caused by the pore-forming toxin perforin at sites of cytotoxic T cell engagement.1 Subsequent entry of granzymes and initiation of apoptosis of cancer cells is thus limited,leading to reduced sensitivity against T cell‑mediated cytotoxicity.1 Along these lines,this could constitute a new critical resistance mechanism for T cellbased treatment approaches.

Aim:Efficient and readily available anticancer drugs are sought as treatment options.for this reason,chromene derivatives were prepared using the one-pot reaction and tested for their anticancer and anti-angiogenic properties.Methods:2-Amino-3-cyano-4-(aryl)-7-methoxy-4H-chromene compounds(2A-R)were repurposed or newly synthesized via a three-component reaction of 3-methoxyphenol,various aryl aldehydes,and malononitrile.We performed assays to study the inhibition of tumor cell growth[3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromid(MTT)assay],effects on microtubules(immunofluorescence),cell cycle(flow-activated cell sorting analysis),angiogenesis(zebrafish model),and MYB activity(luciferase reporter assay).fluorescence microscopy was applied for localization studies via copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne click reaction of an alkyne-tagged drug derivative.Results:Compounds 2A-C and 2f exhibited robust antiproliferative activities against several human cancer cell lines(50%inhibitory concentrations in the low nanomolar range)and showed potent MYB inhibition.The alkyne derivative 3 was localized in the cytoplasm after only 10 min of incubation.Substantial microtubule disruption and G2/M cell-cycle arrest were observed,where compound 2f stood out as a promising microtubule-disrupting agent.The study of anti-angiogenic properties showed that 2A was the only candidate with a high potential to inhibit blood vessel formation in vivo.Conclusion:The close interplay of various mechanisms,including cell-cycle arrest,MYB inhibition,and anti-angiogenic activity,led to identifying promising multimodal anticancer drug candidates.

Background:The Canadian 24-hour movement behavior(24-HMB)guidelines suggest that a limited amount of screen time use,an adequate level of physical activity(PA),and sufficient sleep duration are beneficial for ensuring and optimizing the health and quality of life(QoL)of children and adolescents.However,this topic has yet to be examined for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder(ASD)specifically.The aim of this cross-sectional observational study was to examine the associations between meeting 24-HMB guidelines and several QoLrelated indicators among a national sample of American children and adolescents with ASD.Methods:Data were taken from the 2020 U.S.National Survey of Children’s Health dataset.Participants(n=956)aged 617 years and currently diagnosed with ASD were included.The exposure of interest was adherence to the 24-HMB guidelines.Outcomes were QoL indicators,including learning interest/curiosity,repeating grades,adaptive ability,victimization by bullying,and behavioral problems.Categorical variables were described with unweighted sample counts and weighted percentages.Age,sex,race,preterm birth status,medication,behavioral treatment,household poverty level,and the educational level of the primary caregivers were included as covariates.Odds ratio(OR)and 95%confidence interval(95%CI)were used to present the strength of association between adherence to 24-HMB guidelines and QoL-related indicators.Results:Overall,452 participants(45.34%)met 1 of the 3 recommendations,216(22.65%)met 2 recommendations,whereas only 39 participants(5.04%)met all 3 recommendations.Compared with meeting none of the recommendations,meeting both sleep duration and PA recommendations(OR=3.92,95%CI:1.639.48,pf showing learning interest/curiosity.Meeting both screen time and PA recommendations(OR=0.15,95%CI:0.040.61,p<0.05)or both sleep duration and PA recommendations(OR=0.24,95%CI:0.070.87,p<0.05)was associated with lower od

Turbulent motions are believed to regulate angular momentum transport and influence dust evolution in protoplanetary disks.Measuring the strength of turbulence is challenging through gas line observations because of the requirement for high spatial and spectral resolution data,and an exquisite determination of the temperature.In this work,taking the well-known HD 163296 disk as an example,we investigated the contrast of gaps identified in high angular resolution continuum images as a probe for the level of turbulence.With self-consistent radiative transfer models,we simultaneously analyzed the radial brightness profiles along the disk major and minor axes,and the azimuthal brightness profiles of the B67 and B100 rings.By fitting all the gap contrasts measured from these profiles,we constrained the gas-to-dust scale height ratioΛto be 3.0^(+0.3)_(−0.8),1.2^(+0.1)_(−0.1),and≥6.5 for the D48,B67,and B100 regions,respectively.The varying gas-to-dust scale height ratios indicate that the degree of dust settling changes with radius.The inferred values forΛtranslate into a turbulence level of α_(turb)f dust surface density drops,the turbulence strength in the D86 gap region is not constrained.

The cranial neural crest plays a fundamental role in orofacial development and morphogenesis.Accordingly,mutations with impact on the cranial neural crest and its development lead to orofacial malformations such as cleft lip and palate.As a pluripotent and dynamic cell population,the cranial neural crest undergoes vast transcriptional and epigenomic alterations throughout the formation of facial structures pointing to an essential role of factors regulating chromatin state or transcription levels.

Background:There is a growing interest to understand the neurobiological mechanisms that drive the positive associations of physical activity and fitness with measures of cognitive performance.To better understand those mechanisms,several studies have employed eye-based measures(e.g., eye movement measures such as saccades,pupillary measures such as pupil dilation,and vascular measures such as retinal vessel diameter)deemed to be proxies for specific neurobiological mechanisms.However,there is currently no systematic review providing a comprehensive overview of these studies in the field of exercise-cognition science.Thus,this review aimed to address that gap in the literature.Methods:To identify eligible studies,we searched 5 electronic databases on October 23,2022.Two researchers independently extracted data and assessed the risk of bias using a modified version of the Tool for the assEssment of Study qualiTy and reporting in EXercise(TESTEX scale,for interventional studies) and the critical appraisal tool from the Joanna Briggs Institute(for cross-sectional studies).Results:Our systematic review(n=35 studies) offers the following main findings:(a) there is insufficient evidence available to draw solid conclusions concerning gaze-fixation-based measures;(b) the evidence that pupillometric measures,which are a proxy for the noradrenergic system,can explain the positive effect of acute exercise and cardiorespiratory fitness on cognitive performance is mixed;(c) physical training-or fitness-related changes of the cerebrovascular system(operationalized via changes in retinal vasculature) are,in general,positively associated with cognitive performance improvements;(d) acute and chronic physical exercises show a positive effect based on an oculomotor-based measure function(operationalized via antisaccade tasks);and(e) the positive association between cardiorespiratory fitness and cognitive performance is partly mediated by the dopaminergic system(operationalized via spontaneous eye-blink rate).Conclusion:This systema
