Intensive agriculture activities,industrialization and growing numbers of wastewater treatment plants along river banks collectively contribute to the elevated levels of neurotoxic pollutants in natural water reservoirs across *** established an in vitro bioassay based upon neural stem cells isolated from the subventricular zone of the postnatal mouse to evaluate the neurotoxic potential of raw wastewater,treated sewage effluent,groundwater and drinking *** toxic potential of water samples was evaluated employing viability,proliferation,differentiation and migration *** found that raw wastewater could reduce the viability and proliferation of neural stem cells,and decreased the neuronal and astrocyte differentiation,neuronal neurite growth,astrocyte growth and cell *** sewage water also showed inhibitory effects on cell proliferation and *** results indicated that relatively high concentrations of nitrogenous substances,pesticides,mercuric compounds,bisphenol-A,and phthalates,along with some other pollutants in raw wastewater and treated sewage water,might be the reason for the neuroinhibitory effects of these water *** model successfully predicted the neurotoxicity of water samples collected from different sources and also revealed that the incomplete removal of contaminants from wastewater can be problematic for the developing nervous *** presented data also provides strong evidence that more effective treatments should be used to minimize the contamination of water before release into major water bodies which may be considered as water reservoirs for human usage in the future.

Arabidopsis MSI1 has fundamental functions in plant development. MSI1 is a subunit of Polycomb group protein complexes and Chromatin assembly factor 1, and it interacts with the Retinoblastoma-related protein 1. Altered levels of MSI1 result in pleiotropic phenotypes, reflecting the complexity of MSI1 protein functions. In order to uncover additional functions of MSI1, we performed transcriptional profiling of wild-type and plants with highly reduced MSI1 levels （msil-cs）. Surprisingly, the known functions of MSI1 could only account for a minor part of the transcriptional changes in msil-cs plants. One of the most striking unexpected observations was the up-regulation of a subset of ABA-responsive genes eliciting the response to drought and salt stress. We report that MSI1 can bind to the chromatin of the drought-inducible downstream target RD20 and suggest a new role for MSI1 in the negative regulation of the Arabidopsis drought-stress response.

According to the mass action law and the coexistence theory of slagstructure, the calculating models of mass action concentration for CaO-MgO-FeO-Fe_2O_3-SiO_2,CaO-MgO-MnO-FeO-Fe_2O_3-P_2O_5-SiO_2 and CaO-MgO-MnO-FeO-Fe_2O_3-Al_2O_3-P_2O_5-SiO_2 slag melts areformulated and sulphur distribution between the slag melts and liquid iron is treated. It is foundthat CaO, MnO and FeO promote desulphurization, while MgO is detrimental to desulphurization. Inaddition, the sulphur distribution coefficients between the slag melts and liquid iron andpresented.

Objective:To investigate the ability of the methanolic extract of pineapple peel to modulate alcohol-induced lipid peroxidation,changes in catalase activities and hepatic biochemical marker levels in blood ***:Oxidative stress was induced by oral administration of ethanol(20%w/v) at a dosage of 5 niL/kg bw in *** 28 days of treatment,the rats were fasted overnight and sacrificed by cervical *** was collected with a 2 mL syringe by cardiac puncture and was centrifuged at 3000 rpm for 10 *** plasma was analyzed to evaluate malondialdehyde(MDA),catalase activity,aspartate aminotransferase(AST),alkaline phosphatase(ALP) and alanine aminotransferase(ALT) ***:Administration of alcohol caused a drastic increase(87.74%) in MDA level compared with the *** peel extract significantly reduced the MDA level by 60.16%at 2.S mL/kg *** fed alcohol only had the highest catalase activity,treatment with pineapple peel extract at 2.5 mL/kg bw however, reduced the *** AST,ALP and ALT activities were observed in rats fed alcohol only respectively,treatment with pineapple peel extract drastically reduced their activities. Conclusions:The positive modulation of lipid peroxidation,catalase activities as well as hepatic biomarker levels of blood plasma by the methanolic extract of pineapple peels under alcoholinduced oxidative stress is an indication of its protective ability in the management of alcoholinduced toxicity.

Solving AC-Optimal Power Flow(OPF)problems is an essential task for grid operators to keep the power system safe for the use cases such as minimization of total generation cost or minimization of infeed curtailment from renewable DERs(Distributed Energy Resource).Mathematical solvers are often able to solve the AC-OPF problem but need significant computation *** neural networks(ANN)have a good application in function approximation with outstanding computational *** this paper,we employ ANN to approximate the solution of AC-OPF for multiple *** novelty of our work is a new training method based on the reinforcement learning concept.A high-performance batched power flow solver is used as the physical environment for training,which evaluates an augmented loss function and the numerical action *** augmented loss function consists of the objective term for each use case and the penalty term for constraints *** training method enables training without a reference OPF and the integration of discrete decision variable such as discrete transformer tap changer position in the constrained *** improve the optimality of the approximation,we further combine the reinforcement training approach with supervised training labeled by reference *** benchmark results show the high approximation quality of our proposed approach while achieving high computational efficiency on multiple use cases.

The northern Chilean Patagonia region is a key feeding ground and a nursing habitat in the southern hemisphere for blue whales(Balaenoptera musculus).From 2014 to 2019,during 6 separate research cruises,the dive behavior of 28 individual blue whales was investigated using bio-logging tags(DTAGs),generating≈190 h of *** dove to significantly greater depths during the day compared to nighttime(day:32.6±18.7 m;night:6.2±2.7 m;Pollisions during periods of darkness since the estimated maximum ship draft of vessels operating in the region is also≈12 *** recent decades,northern Chilean Patagonia has seen a large increase in marine traffic due to a boom in salmon aquaculture and the passenger ship *** strike risks for large whales are likely underestimated in this *** reported in this study may be valuable for policy and mitigation decisions regarding conservation of the endangered blue whale.

Objective: To investigate human cytomegalovirus infec-tion and genetic variations in glycoprotein B(gB) inliver transplant recipients in south-east ***:EDTA-blood samples were obtained from 21liver transplant recipients. The semi-nested PCR wasused to amplify a region of high sequence variabilityin the gB gene of human cytomegalovirus (HCMV)followed by direct sequence ***: Out of the 21 liver transplant recipients, 5were proved HCMV positive 62 to 180 days aftertransplantation. The nucleotide and encoded aminoacid sequences were compared with published se-quences of AD169 and Towne laboratory *** the region sequenced, 2 out of 5 strains pos-sessed a peptide configuration similar to that of strainAD169, while another 2 strains displayed a peptideconfiguration similar to that of strain Towne. Onestrain had amino acid substitution, which was differ-ent from those of both AD169 and Towne in thecleavage ***: Our results provide molecular epidemio-logical data for HCMV strains circulating among trans-plant recipients in south-east China.

Dear editor,Necrotizing fasciitis is a relatively rare,rapidly advancing,infectious disease with high lethality.[1]It is characterized by subcutaneous and fascial tissue necrosis and can even extend to involve skin and muscle.[2]The initial spread along fascial planes with little visual evidence impedes the crucial early *** often report minor or major trauma preceding the infection,yet in some cases,the disease develops idiopathically.[3]Risk factors,including older age,diabetes,chronic renal failure,and obesity,predispose to impaired immunity and loss of physiological barriers.[2]
