以碳化硅、氮化镓和金刚石为代表的宽禁带半导体材料是典型的难加工材料。本研究中,设计2种基于化学机械抛光(CMP)的加工设备,以开发高效高质量加工此类晶体衬底的新技术,并研究讨论使用新设备时的加工机理和难加工衬底的加工特征。加工设备的原型机分别为封闭箱式(closed chamber-type)环境控制CMP设备和等离子体熔融(plasma fusion)CMP设备。在前者中引入光催化反应,并在高压氧气环境下增加紫外辐射,试图提高加工效率。在后者中预期实现常压等离子体化学蒸发加工(P-CVM)和CMP各自优势的协同效应,尤其适合高硬度、极稳定的金刚石衬底。在验证设备加工机理的过程中,随加工过程进行,在极限表面(extreme surface)上形成了如水合物膜或氧化物膜的反应产物。因此,引入紫外辐射的箱式CMP设备在高压氧气环境下效率极高;而对等离子熔融CMP设备,在氧气氛围下,同时开展P-CVM和CMP时可实现对金刚石晶片的高效加工。通过对加工机理进行研究,提出由伪自由基场(pseudo radical filed)/反应产物形成和新表面接触磁流变抛光这两步构成的“循环处理方法”,可实现对难加工材料的高效率加工。

Due to the economical,political and social changes in Japan,the construction industry has to shift the focus from building new infrastructures to maintaining existing *** life of the infrastructures will be extended by regular maintenance considerably and this is especially true for tunnels and other underground ***,for the construction,maintenance and reinforcement of the tunnels,the new concept called asset management has been also introduced and paid *** of the key issues for asset management for tunnels is how to define,monitor and assess the performance of the *** is also important to register geological and construction related data and store them for the future use such as the maintenance and repair/reinforcement of the tunnels. At each stages(construction,maintenance and repair/reinforcement),large amount of data are gathered that should be stored and retrieved for the later *** newly developed three-dimensional Underground Space Information Management System (USIMS) enables to store and integrate all types of information related to the construction,inspection,maintenance and reinforcement systematically with a 3-D virtual world. In this study,for the purpose of the tunnel maintenance and health assessment of the tunnels,the comprehensive tunnel database was constructed using USIMS based on the geological data at the tunnel site,construction data,regular inspection records and photos,and etc.,which were stored as a hard copy and/or digital *** updating this tunnel database,time evolution of the tunnel status such as deformation,clacks *** be presented with clear 3D vision. Spontaneous spinal epidural hematoma (SSEH) is a rare idiopathic condition that leads to the acute onset of neurological deficits, which can have catastrophic consequences if not recognized early. It is important to make an early precise diagnosis. Spinal epidural hematoma has been increasingly recognized since the advent of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). However, T1- and T2-weighted gradient-echo sequences are relatively less sensitive to the magnetic susceptibility effects of hemorrhage. Echo-planar gradient-echo T2*-weighted MR imaging (T2* MRI) is sensitive to these magnetic susceptibility effects and is commonly used for the detection of hemorrhage. We reported that the case of a 76-year-old man who presented with tetra paresis had an early diagnosis of spontaneous spinal epidural hematoma early diagnosed by T2* MRI.

Makeup Activates Brain Activity in Visually Impaired Persons: Evaluation by Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Cosmetics are used to improve physical appearance, but the benefits may be limited to people without visual impairment. The importance of attractiveness among blind persons has not been assessed. We investigated the influence of makeup on brain activity of blind persons using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). Participants were 7 blind females (BFs) who learned to fully apply makeup and 9 mostly age-matched normally sighted females (NSFs). Brain activity was measured using fMRI before and after application of makeup and during a makeup image task in each state. In the default mode network at rest, there was no difference between the BFs and NSFs. However, a lateral visual network to the opposite side was observed in the NSFs, whereas no such network was noted in the BFs. A weak network was noted in the BFs in the occipital fusiform gyrus and temporal occipital fusiform cortex, and an extensive visual area network defect was noted. Also, activity after makeup application was significantly higher in the nucleus accumbens, pallidum, and hippocampus. Activity in the right middle cingulate gyrus, right cerebral white matter, and right anterior cingulate gyrus was higher before makeup in both BFs and NSFs, and the activity was significantly higher and more extensive in the BFs. In conclusion, applying makeup is a personally rewarding activity, even for BFs, as it strongly activates the reward system and the reward/memory system network, even in the absence of a visual area network.

Cementoblastoma is a rare benign lesion that represents less than 1% of all odontogenic tumours. It’s characterized by proliferation of cementum-like tissue and in almost all cases tends to be associated with an erupted permanent tooth, most often the first mo- lar. We present an unusual case of a large cemento-blastoma that affected the right mandibular body, extending from the first premolar to the second molar, of a 19-years-old male. In this case an initial surgery was attempted under local anaesthesia, resulting in incomplete tumor removal. A second surgical procedure was performed under general anaesthesia, ensuring the complete excision of the lesion. The patient was monitored for 1 year after surgery and did not show any signs of recurrence.

Papaya (Carica papaya L.) is a typical plant with a tropical climate, but also grown in subtropical regions. Using mathematical models well-adjusted allows with good precision to estimate characteristics of interest. The objective was to adjust an equation that estimates the fruit mass for each cultivar of papaya, Aliança and THB, using only one measure, length or width. The experiment was conducted in the municipality of Linhares in the state of Espírito Santo, Brazil. Seedlings were planted on the same day, spaced 3.6 × 1.5 m and in rows side by side. Initially, the equations were modeled, they were linearized and then the covariance analysis was performed in order to verify the possibility of an equation that would serve both cultivars. As the covariance was significant, it was necessary to develop equations for each cultivar. To obtain the growth equations, 350 fruits of cultivar Aliança and 550 of THB were used. The validation was performed with 50 fruits of each. The characteristics evaluated were the largest width (W in mm), the longest fruit length (L, in mm) and the observed mass (OM in g). The equations that best fit were those of the power model that use width (W) as an independent variable.

Medical incidents have been collected, analyzed and built up preventive measures by each medical institution for a long time. For powdered medication, there is the problem that it is difficult to tell at a glance the quantity of the active ingredient in the medication that has been dispensed and the quantities that have been mixed together. Therefore, special prevention measures are considered essential. In this study, we examined the work content of pharmacists’ powdered medication dispensing, using an eye-tracking technology of measuring a human eye movement, and studied on factors that affect medical incident. Participants were five pharmacists with 8 to 26 years of working experience (expert), and five pharmacists with less than one year of working experience (newcomer). Gaze measurement experiments were implemented for powdered medication dispensing during regular work activity. The gaze measurement equipment used was Tobii Pro Glasses 2. Based on the results of the eye tracking, newcomer had a longer dispensing time than expert for all powdered medication dispensing. In particular, it was suggested that there is a close relationship to “years of experience” and “weighing and mixing skills.” Experts did unwasted and efficient movements, when preparing the dispensing apparatus, taking medications from the shelves, and scanning the barcode in the powders dispensing checking system. These movements led to shorter working time in experts. In contrast, newcomer had individual differences at the dispensing. Even with the same pharmacist, the work progression differed depending upon the prescription. Therefore, it is thought that the factor of common error was inadequate check and overlooked. The state that it’s messy on the workplace is also considered highly likely to cause dispensing mistakes. In Japan, the heptavalent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV7) became available in February 2010 and was subsidized by the national funding system from May 2011 in Okinawa, after which it was incorporated into the national immunization practice (NIP) in April 2013 using a 3 + 1 schedule for all infants. We conducted an annual survey in 2012 to determine the effect of PCV7 on nasopharyngeal colonization by pneumococcal serotypes and to analyze the risk factors for colonization in infants. Nasopharyngeal swabs for pneumococcal isolation and serotyping were obtained from infant 2 to 22 months of age before and after PCV7 immunization among 4 clinics in Okinawa, Japan. Between January 2012 and December 2012, nasopharyngeal swabs for bacterial cultures were obtained among 782 infants aged 2 to 22 months old and demographic data was obtained among 725 participant infants. Among the 725 evaluable infants, 193 pneumococcal strains were detected in 180 infants for an overall nasopharyngeal carriage of 24.8%. The main capsular serotypes isolated were 6C (16.1%), 19A (12.4%) and 15B (9.8%). Carriage of PCV7 serotypes accounted for 21.8% (42/193). The result of multivariate data analysis showed the pneumococcal carriage rate of non-PCV7 serotypes was significantly (P < 0.001) high in infant with siblings and daycare attendance. On the other hand, the result of multivariate data analysis showed that carriage rate of PCV7 serotype had only significantly high risk in infant with siblings and did not have a significant risk dependent on age and daycare attendance. Carriage PCV7 serotypes increased in the presence of other siblings, while PCV7 vaccination was shown to eliminate daycare attendance as a risk. The results of this study demonstrates that PCV7 vaccination decrease the overall nasopharyngeal carriage of PCV7 serotypes in vaccinated children including children at risk such as children attending day-care centers.

In recent years, medical institutions have taken a variety of measures to prevent medical incident. In addition, progress has been made toward the development of a fully automated system for the purpose of medicine dispensing. However, automating the dispensing, or having it replaced by artificial intelligence (AI) will not, eradicate human error. Thus, measures against human error will continue to serve as an important topic. Therefore, hospitals are required to improve the efficiency of the pharmacy department. For these purposes, attention has now shifted to Supply Processing and Distribution (SPD). In this study, we measured for the gaze of the pharmacist and SPD, and examined the factors affecting dispensing error;moreover, we examined prevention of the human error. In the results of the eye tracking, SPD members tended to spend a greater number of gaze time and gaze counts, for each medicine, on “medicines” and “picking lists,” than pharmacists. On the other hand, when pharmacists picking medicines, they performed various work operations in parallel, such as checking the prescription and looking the next shelf location. It was conjectured that SPD members had more clearly defined items to check when picking, compared to pharmacists. This may have possibly led to a lower chance of dispensing errors being introduced by SPD members. These results suggest that the process of selection is not a mandatory requirement of pharmacists during the action of dispensing. Instead, SPD members, pharmacy assistants, or automatic dispensing devices could serve as substitutes for picking. It is suggested that pharmacists should spend more time and effort on prescription inspection, medicines checking and dosing operations.
