Evaluation of molecular and immunological methods for diagnosis of tuberculosis pleurisy

Objective:The inefficiency of conventional laboratory methods for diagnosis of Pleural tuberculosis(TBP) and the reliance on pleural biopsy have motivated the evaluation of alternative diagnostic *** goal was to evaluate different laboratory techniques Ziehl Neelsen,Mantoux skin test,determination of interferon gamma in serum and pleural fluid,polymerase chain reaction and serological study of specific IgG,IgM and IgA beside bacteriological culture by BACTEC 460 TB for rapid and accurate diagnosis of tuberculosis pleurisy. Methods:Patients presented with pleural effusions were subjected to study by ZN,PCR,serological study By specific IgG,IgM and IgA for A60 of tuberculosis compared to culture by BACTEC460 *** gamma was determined both in serum and pleural ***:Mantoux skin test was positive in 19 TBP patients and four patients with exudative pleural effusion.Z.N staining results of pleural biopsy specimens were positive in only 1 of 23 patients(4.3%) in the tuberculous pleural effusion *** was positive in 20 cases of group 1(87%).Serum and pleural fluid interferon had significantly elevated levels(P<0.000 1) in TBP and both measurements had significant correlation in TBP(P<0.000 1).The serum IgA ELISA test was positive in 7/23(30.4%),IgM was positive in 17/23(73.9%) patients and IgG was positive in 16/23(69%) *** of the non TBP had either ZN,PCR or positive serum IgA,IgG,or *** the positive results for IgG and IgM were combined together the serological tests correcdy identified 20/23(87%) of patients. Conclusion:We suggest that in TBP serological diagnosis by combined use of IgG and IgM for A60 antigen with serum determination of interferon gamma can provide rapid and non invasive diagnostic tool that can justify the starting of chemotherapy while awaiting the results of culture.

This paper involves a limit cycle oscillator-frequency lock loop(LCO-FLL)based control algorithm for unified power quality controllers-S type(UPQC-S)for compensation of reactive power,to maintain a unity power factor,regulate constant voltage at the PCC,mitigate sag,swell and to eliminate *** this approach,an extraction of fundamental in-phase and quadrature components for the estimation of reference signals are taken from the LCO-FLL *** control LCO-FLL provides a high grade of protection against sag-swell voltages,unbalance loading and harmonics present in the utility *** addition to that,it has advantageous characteristics of synchronization with the grid frequency at any previously mentioned conditions without use of phase locked loops or trigonometric *** advantages of the LCO-FLL are to give useful information to estimate fundamental components from a highly polluted grid *** values obtained from the JAYA optimization algorithm are used to fine-tune the proportional integral(PI)controller gains,so that it maintains DC link voltage to the desired *** mean square error(MSE)is employed as an objective function for optimizing the error between actual and reference *** control algorithm based on LCO-FLL is developed in MATLAB/Simulink software and it is tested for power conditioning features.

Study of enteropathogens associated with paediatric gastroenteritis

Objective:To determine the etiology of acute diarrhea in children under 5 years of age and to improve- knowledge of the etiology of gastrointestinal pathogens using traditional and molecular diagnostic ***: Various common enteropathogens(viral,bacterial and parasites) associated with diarrhea were investigated by conventional and molecular techniques(PCR) for verotoxin present in Escherichia coli in 218 children less than 5 years of age admitted to Mansoura University Children hospital- ***:The occurrence of enteropathogens identified was as follows:*** O157:H7 38.8%followed by Salmonella Spp 29.4%,Aeromonas 20%and Shigella Spp 11.8%.Rotavirus was found in of samples 17.1%.Rotavirus was statistically significant in age<2 yeats *** commonest parasites found were *** followed by Enterobius vermicularis, Giardia lambia,Hymenolepis nana and *** and Salmonella isolates were tested for their susceptibility to common antimicrobial agents and most of the isolates were resistant to ampicillin and trimethoprim /***:This study demonstrated that rotavirus,*** O157:H7,Salmonella Spp,and Aeromonas were significant *** was significantly associated with infantile *** results highlight the value of using a combination of traditional and PCR techniques in the diagnosis of enteropathogens related to acute gastroenteritis in children.

The design of all spatial scares in a manufactured environment is part of the architectural skills and knowtedge. Therefore, an architectural design should be drafted to reduce the vulnerability of humans and buildings against unexpected events, such as terrorist attacks and bombardments. Human casualties and equipment destruction inside the buitdings coutd be prevented by designing a suitabte architectural space. This study addresses the absence of a codified and detaited criterion to evatuate architecturat spaces and their design. Hence, art proposed indices for architectural spaces have been extracted using the ideas of experts in the field of architecture and exptosives. Questionnaires were presented to 25 experts to weigh the effective indices using the anatytic hierarchy process method. The human-oriented （ergonomic） characteristics of the buitding space is found to be the most important factor in facilitating crisis management, followed by the Location of criticat spaces.

Tribological behavior of A356-CNT nanocomposites fabricated by various casting techniques

Tribological behaviors of monolithic A356 aluminum alloy castings and *** nanocomposite castings, fabricated by fully liquid and semisolid routes were examined. Samples were prepared by melt agitation, rheocasting, stir casting, and compocasting techniques. Effects of addition of carbon nanotubes (CNTs), casting process and the applied load on wear properties and mechanisms were investigated. It was found that wear loss, wear rate and friction coefficient of nanocomposite samples remarkably declined by the addition of CNTs. Moreover, changing the casting process from fully liquid to semisolid routes, plus increasing fractions of the primary phase were the two factors that improved the wear properties of the investigated samples, especially nanocomposite ones. In addition, it was revealed that adhesion and delamination were the dominant wear mechanism of the monolithic samples produced by fully liquid and semisolid routes, respectively. However, regardless of fabrication techniques, the abrasion was the main wear mechanism of nanocomposite samples.

Effects of die geometry on non-equal channel lateral extrusion(NECLE) of AZ80 magnesium alloy

Non-equal channel lateral extrusion（NECLE） is a new process that can be used to attain higher grain refinement in comparison with equal channel lateral extrusion（ECLE）. The die design for this process was numerically and experimentally studied. After finding a good correlation between the numerical and experimental results, more comprehensive FE analyses were carried out. Different die geometrical parameters were considered and their effects on the induced plastic strain, stress distribution, velocity field and forming load of the process were investigated. It was found that by this process with a suitable set of die geometrical parameters, higher induced effective strain and more homogeneous strain distribution could be achieved in comparison with ECLE operation.

Distribution and Influence of Iron Phases on the Physico-Chemical Properties of Phyllosilicates

Clay minerals from different Cretaceous stratigraphic successions of Egypt were investigated using XRD, DTA, dissolution analysis (DCB), IR, Mssbauer and X\|ray Electron Spin Resonance (ESR) spectroscopes. The purity of the samples and the degree of their structural order were determined by XRD. The location of Fe in the octahedral sheet is characterized by absorption bands at ～875cm\+\{-1\} assigned as Al\|OH\|Fe which persist after chemical dissolution of free iron. The Mssbauer spectra of these clays show two doublets with isomer shift and quadrupole splitting typical of octahedrally coordinated Fe\+\{3+\}, in addition to third doublet with hyperfine parameter typical of Fe\+\{2+\} in the spectra of Abu\|Had kaolinite (H) sample. Six\|lines magnetic hyperfine components which are consistent with those of hematite are confirmed in the spectra of both Isel and Rish kaolinite samples. Goethite was confirmed by both IR and DTA. Multiple nature of ESR of these clays suggested structural Fe in distorted octahedral symmetry as well as non\|structural Fe.\; Little dispersion and low swelling indices as well as incomplete activation of the investigated montmorillonite samples by NaCO\-3 appear to be due to incomplete disaggregation of montmorillonite particles. This can be explained by the ability of Fe\|gel to aggregate the montmorillonite into pseudo\|particles and retard the rigid\|gel structure. However, extraction of this ferric amorphous compound by dithonite treatment recovers the surface properties of the montmorillonite samples.\; On the other hand, the amount and site occupation of Fe associated with kaolinite samples show an inverse correlation with the parameters used to describe the degree of crystallinity perfection, color, brightness and vitrification range of these kaolinite samples.

Yam hairiness is a complex concept, which generally cannot be completely defined by a single figure. Hairiness can be considered as the fiber ends and loops standing out from the main compact yarn body. Uster hairiness system characterizes the hairiness by H value, i.e. the mean value of the total length of all hairs within one centimeter of yarn. The raw data HI are in fact realization of spatial process （hairiness spatial process -- HSP） and can be used for more complex evaluation of hairiness characteristics in the space and frequency domain. The main aim of this contribution is description of some tools for spatial characterization of yarn hairiness. The simple methods for complex characterization of lISP statistical behavior （stationarity, independence, linearity etc. ） are presented. The techniques based on the embedding dimension and correlation integral or long-range dependences evaluation are discussed. The selected methods are core of HYARN program in MATLAB. Application of this program for deeper characterization of artificial data and cotton type yam are shown.

VeriFace:Defending against Adversarial Attacks in Face Verification Systems

Face verification systems are critical in a wide range of applications,such as security systems and biometric ***,these systems are vulnerable to adversarial attacks,which can significantly compromise their accuracy and *** attacks are designed to deceive the face verification system by adding subtle perturbations to the input *** perturbations can be imperceptible to the human eye but can cause the systemtomisclassifyor fail torecognize thepersoninthe *** this issue,weproposeanovel system called VeriFace that comprises two defense mechanisms,adversarial detection,and adversarial *** first mechanism,adversarial detection,is designed to identify whether an input image has been subjected to adversarial *** second mechanism,adversarial removal,is designed to remove these perturbations from the input image to ensure the face verification system can accurately recognize the person in the *** evaluate the effectiveness of the VeriFace system,we conducted experiments on different types of adversarial attacks using the Labelled Faces in the Wild(LFW)*** results show that the VeriFace adversarial detector can accurately identify adversarial imageswith a high detection accuracy of 100%.Additionally,our proposedVeriFace adversarial removalmethod has a significantly lower attack success rate of 6.5%compared to state-of-the-art removalmethods.

Colonoscopic diagnosis of appendiceal intussusception in a patient with intermittent abdominal pain: A case report

Intussusception of the appendix is a rare condition. Most cases are diagnosed during operation of the patients suspected to have appendicitis. In this report we present a seventy one year-old man with a history of periumbilical intermittent abdominal pain for several months. None of the paraclinical tests were useful for determining the diagnosis. Colonoscopy performed during the last episode of abdominal pain revealed the prolapsed appendix in the cecum and the patient was sent to the operating room. Macroscopic appearance of the appendix was normal and microscopic examination revealed follicular hyperplasia and acute focal appendicitis. Appendiceal intussusception should be considered in differential diagnosis of intermittent abdominal pain and colonoscopic diagnosis could be very important to avoid dangerous or unnecessary decision making.
