AIm. To investigate the num.er of hypertensive patients, the optom.trist is able to identify by routinely taking blood pressure(BP) m.asurem.nts for patients in "at-risk" groups, and to sam.le patients’ opinions regarding in-office BP m.asurem.nt. m.ny of the optom.trists in saudi Arabia practice in optical *** stores are wide spread, easily accessible and seldom.need appointm.nts. The expanding role of the optom.trist as a prim.ry health care provider(PHCP) and the increasing global prevalence of hypertension,highlight the need for an integrated approach towards detecting and m.nitoring ***: Autom.ted BP m.asurem.nts were m.de twice(during the sam. session) at five selected optom.try practices using a validated BP m.nitor(Om.on m.) to assess the num.er of patients with high BP(HBP)- in at-risk groups-visiting the eye clinic routinely. Prior to data collection, practitioners underwent a two-day training workshop by a cardiologist on hypertension and how to obtain accurate BP readings. A protocol for BP m.asurem.nt was distributed and retained in all participating clinics. The general,,.,attitude towards cardiovascular health of 480 patients aged 37.2(±12.4)y and their opinion towards in-office BP m.asurem.nt was assessed using a self-adm.nistered ***: A response rate of 83.6% was obtained for the survey. Ninety-three of the 443 patients(21.0%)tested for BP in this study had HBP. Of these,(62subjects) 67.7% were unaware of their HBP status. Thirty of the 105 subjects(28.6%) who had previously been diagnosed with HBP, still had HBP at the tim. of this study, and only 22(73.3%) of these patients were on m.dication. Also, only 25% of the diagnosed hypertensive patients owned a BP ***: Taking BP m.asurem.nts in optom.try practices, we were able to identify one previously undiagnosed patient with HBP for every 8 adults *** also identified 30 of 105 previously diagnosed patients whose BP was poorly controlled

In this study,an alternative precursor for production of activated carbon was introduced using dragon fruit(Hylocereus costaricensis)peel(DFP).m.reover,KOH was used as a chem.cal activator in the therm.l carbonization process to convert DFP into activated carbon(DFPAC).In order to accom.lish this research,several approaches were em.loyed to exam.ne the elem.ntal com.osition,surface properties,am.rphous and crystalline nature,essential active group,and surface m.rphology of the *** BrunauerEm.ettTeller test dem.nstrated a m.soporous structure of the DFPAC has a high surface area of 756.3 m.g *** cationic dye m.thylene Blue(m.)was used as a probe to assess the efficiency of DFPAC towards the rem.val of m. dye from.aqueous *** effects of adsorption input factors(*** dose(A:0.040.12 g L 1),pH(B:310),and tem.erature(C:3050℃))were investigated and optim.zed using statistical analysis(*** design(BBD)).The adsorption kinetic m.del can be best categorized as the pseudofirst order(PFO).Whereas,the adsorption isotherm.m.del can be best described by Langm.ir m.del,with m.xim.m.adsorption capacity of DFPAC for m. dye was 195.2 m. g 1 at 50℃.The adsorption m.chanism.of m. by DFPAC surface was attributed to the electrostatic interaction,pp interaction,and ***,the results support the ability of DFP to be a prom.sing precursor for production of highly porous activated carbon suitable for rem.val of cationic dyes(***).

Facial expression recognition(FER)rem.ins a hot research area am.ng com.uter vision researchers and still becom.s a challenge because of high intraclass *** techniques for this problem.depend on hand-crafted features,nam.ly,LBP,SIFT,and HOG,along with that a classifier trained on a database of videos or *** execute perform.well on im.ge datasets captured in a controlled condition;however not perform.well in the m.re challenging dataset,which has partial faces and im.ge ***,m.ny studies presented an endwise structure for facial expression recognition by utilizing DL ***,this study develops an earthworm.optim.zation with an im.roved SqueezeNet-based FER(EWOISN-FER)*** presented EWOISN-FER m.del prim.rily applies the contrast-lim.ted adaptive histogram.equalization(CLAHE)technique as a pre-processing *** addition,the im.roved SqueezeNet m.del is exploited to derive an optim.l set of feature vectors,and the hyperparam.ter tuning process is perform.d by the stochastic gradient boosting(SGB)***,EWO with sparse autoencoder(SAE)is em.loyed for the FER process,and the EWO algorithm.appropriately chooses the SAE ***-ranging experim.ntal analysis is carried out to exam.ne the perform.nce of the proposed *** experim.ntal outcom.s indicate the suprem.cy of the presented EWOISN-FER technique.

Background: Em.agliflozin, a sodium.glucose co-transporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitor is used as a m.notherapy or in com.ination for lowering the elevated blood glucose level in patients with type 2 diabetes m.llitus (T2Dm.. It is often associated with certain adverse reactions (urinary tract infection (UTI), diabetes ketoacidosis (DKA), and genital infections). Thus, the saudi Food and Drug Adm.nistration requested a post-authorisation safety study to m.nitor the safety of em.agliflozin during the defined observation period. m.thodology: The local, com.arator, non-interventional, regulatory post-m.rketing study using “new user” design was conducted in patients with T2Dm. treated with em.agliflozin (10 or 25 m.) and dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors (NCT03764631). Study was conducted from.2018 to 2020, wherein each patient was followed up for 12 m.nths after the index period. Incidence and occurrence of DKA, severe UTIs, volum. depletion and dehydration were observed along with m.tform.n, insulin and treatm.nt com.lexity status and adverse events in the index and Ram.dan period. All data collected were analysed using descriptive statistics. Results: Am.ng the 1502 patients enrolled (em.agliflozin [n = 751] and DPP-4 inhibitors [n = 751]), 0.1% patients (n = 1) in each group and Conclusion: Em.agliflozin was well tolerated over a period of 12 m.nths, with no safety concerns and a favourable benefit/risk ratio.

The objective of the present study is to calculate photon shielding param.ters for seven polyethylene-based neutron shielding m.terials. The param.ters include the effective atom.c num.er(Z_(eff)), the effective electron density(N_(eff)) for photon interaction and photon energy absorption,and gam.a-ray kerm. coefficient(kc). The calculations of Z_(eff)are presented as a single-valued and are energy dependent. While Z_(eff)values were calculated via sim.listic powerlaw m.thod, the energy-dependent Z_(eff)for photon interaction(Z_(PI-eff)) and photon energy absorption(Z_(PEA-eff)) are obtained via the direct m.thod for energy ranges of 1 keV–100 GeV and 1 keV–20 m. V, respectively. The kccoefficients are calculated by sum.ing the contributions of the m.jor partial photon interactions for energy range of 1 keV–100 m.V. In m.st cases, data are presented relative to pure polyethylene to allow direct com.arison over a range of energy. The results show that com.ination of polyethylene with other elem.nts such as lithium.and alum.num.leads to neutron shielding m.terial with m.re ability to absorb neutron and crays. Also, the kerm. coefficient first increases with Z of the additive elem.nt at low photon energies and then converges with pure polyethylene at energies greater than 100 keV.

The Effect of Non-Contact Conditions in a Splinted Fixed Partial Denture on the Load Sharing m.chanism. A Finite Elem.nt Study

A com.uter-aided design m.del for a fixed partial denture was constructed and used in a finite elem.nt analysis to study the overall load sharing m.chanism.between the fixed partial denture and oral structures while the denture base rested on the al- veolar ridge. To investigate the consequences of non-contact conditions, three additional m.dels were generated incorporating a uniform.clearance of 0.125 m., 0.25 m., and 0.5 m., respectively. A 100 N static load located at the free end of the prosthesis was applied while the distal portion of the jaw was set fixed. The results show that whilst releasing the ridge alm.st entirely, the presence of the clearance drastically increased the load on the splinting teeth. A pull-out force on the canine tooth of about 44 N was com.uted, accom.anied by a m.sio-distal m.m.nt of about 500 ***. The com.ination of which was sim.lar to the tooth extraction m.neuver perform.d by the dentist. In contrast, the second prem.lar was found to bear a push-in force of alm.st 115 N. The first m.lar, though barely solicited in the contact condition, becam. substantially loaded in non-contact conditions, which validates the choice of sacrificing three teeth to support the denture.
