Objective To study the carbon tetrachloride-induced hepatoprotective activity in cow urine. Methods Effect of cow urine distillate on liver function was studied in vivo in rats intoxicated with carbon tetrachloride （CC14）. Hepatotoxicity was induced by a 1 ： 1 （v/v） mixture of CCl4 in olive oil （5 mL/kg i.p）. Protective effect of cow urine distillate （in three dose levels） and standard drug silymarin （100 mg/kg, p.o） on liver function were studied in intoxicated rats. Parameters in the study included liver function tests and histological observations. Results The cow urine distillate decreased the levels of sGOT, sGPT, ALP, GGT, and total bilirubin in a dose-dependent manner （P〈0.05） as sylimarin. Conclusion The observed protective effects of cow urine distillate on liver function might be due to the presence of antioxidants in cow urine.

Docosanol is the only Us Food and Drug Administration(FDA)approved over-the-counter topical product for treating recurrent oral-facial herpes simplex *** analytical methods for docosanol are required to demonstrate the bioequivalence of docosanol topical products.A gas chromatography/selected ion monitoring mode mass spectrometry(GC/sIM-Ms)method was developed and validated for docosanol determination in biological *** and isopropyl palmitate(internal standard)were separated on a high-polarity GC capillary column with(88%cyanopropy)aryl-polysiloxane employed as the stationary *** ions of m/z 83 and 256 were selected to monitor docosanol and isopropyl palmitate,respectively;the total run time was 20 *** GC/sIM-Ms method was validated in accordance with Us FDA guidelines,and the results met the Us FDA acceptance *** docosanol calibration standards were linear in the 100-10000 ng/mL concentration range(R^(2)>0.994).The recoveries for docosanol from the receptor fluid and skin homogenates were>93.2%and>95.8%,*** validated method was successfully applied to analyze ex vivo human cadaver skin permeation *** applying Abreva®cream tube and Abreva®cream pump,the amount of docosanol that penetrated human cadaver skin at 48 h was 21.5±7.01 and 24.0±6.95 ng/mg,***,we concluded that the validated GC/sIM-Ms was sensitive,specific,and suitable for quantifying docosanol as a quality control *** method can be used for routine analysis as a costeffective alternative to other techniques.

single nucleotide polymorphisms （sNPs） in genes that influence development of the male reproductive tract have been associated with male genitourinary abnormalities. However, no studies have tested the relationship between sNPs and intermediate phenotypes such as anogenital distance （AGD）, anoscrotal distance （AsD） and penile width （PW）. We tested whether 24 common sNPs in eight genes that influence male genital development were associated with intermediate phenotypes in 106 healthy male infants from the study for Future Families. We used DNA from buccal smears and linear regression models to assess the relationship between anogenital measurements and sNP genotypes with adjustment for covariates. We found that the rs2077647 G allele, located in the coding region of estrogen receptor alpha （EsR1）, was associated with a shorter AGD （P=0.02; -7.3 mm, 95% confidence interval （CI）： -11.6 to -3.1）, and the rs10475 T allele, located in the 3＇ untranslated region of activating transcription factor 3 （ATF3）, was associated with a shorter AsD （-4.3 mm, 95% Ch -7.2 to -1.4）, although this result was not significant （P=0.07） after controlling for multiple comparisons. We observed no association between PW and the sNPs tested. Minor alleles for two sNPs in genes that regulate estrogen signaling during male genital development were associated with AGD and AsD, although the significance of the association was marginal. Our findings suggest that AGD and AsD are influenced by heritable factors in genes known to be associated with frank male genital abnormalities such as hvpospadias and crvotorchidism.

The Ohmically heated circular limiter tokamak ADITYA （R0 = 75 cm, a = 25 cm） has been upgraded to a tokamak named the ADITYA Upgrade （ADITYA-U） with an open divertor configuration with divertor plates. The main goal of ADITYA-U is to carry out dedicated experiments relevant for bigger fusion machines including ITER, such as the generation and control of runaway electrons, disruption prediction, and mitigation studies, along with an improvement in confinement with shaped plasma. The ADITYA tokamak was dismantled and the assembly of ADITYA-U was completed in March 2016. Integration of subsystems like data acquisition and remote operation along with plasma production and preliminary plasma characterization of ADITYA-U plasmas are presented in this paper.

Alsub>2sub>ssub>3sub>/Mossub>2sub> nanocomposite has been synthesized through electrochemical method and characterized by UV-Visible spectroscopy, XRD, sEM and EDAX data. UV-Visible spectroscopy measurements reveal that the Alsub>2sub>ssub>3sub>/Mossub>2sub> nanocomposite has maximum absorption at 353.04 nm and this peak position reflects the band gap of particles and it is found to be 2.51 eV which was calculated using Tauc plot. X-Ray diffraction (XRD) reveals crystaline size to be 49.85 nm which was calculated using Williamson-Hall (W-H) plot method. Photocatalytic degradation of acetic acid, chloroacetic acid and trichloroacetic acid has been studied by volumetric method using NaOH solution. Photocatalytic degradation of chloroacetic acid and acetic acid follows first order kinetics. The photodegradation efficiency for Alsub>2sub>ssub>3sub>/Mossub>2sub> nanocomposite was found to be ≈97.8%. A Taft linear free energy relationship is noted for the catalysed reaction with ρ* = 0.233 and indicating electron withdrawing groups enhance the rate. An isokinetic relation is observed with β = 358 K indicating that enthalpy factor controls the reaction rate. The result of this paper suggests the possibility of degradation of organic compounds, industrial effluants and toxic organic compounds by photodegradation process by ecofriendly Alsub>2sub>ssub>3sub>/ Mossub>2sub>. The antibacterial activity of Alsub>2sub>ssub>3sub>/Mossub>2sub> nanocomposite was investigated. These particles were shown to have an effective bactericide.
