(GU045544.1) from Syringodium isoetifolium could be used as potential antibacterial agent.

The current work was attempted to isolate and characterize the serratiopeptidase producing Serratia sp. Among the 10 bacterial isolates 7 strains were identified as Serratia sp. Out of 7 strains one showed potent proteolytic activity and selected for further studies. Based on the morphological, biochemical and molecular characterization, the potent isolate （RH03） was identified as Serratia marcescens （GenBank accession number： KC961637） and the strain was designated as Serratia marcescens VITSD2. The production of serratiopeptidase was carried out in trypticase soya broth and the enzyme was partially purified using ammonium sulfate precipitation and dialysis. The specific activity was determined by casein hydrolysis assay and was found to be 12.00, 21.33, and 25.40 units/rag for crude, precipitated and dialysed samples. The molecular weight of the protease was determined by SDS-PAGE and it was found to be 50 kDa. The antibacterial activity of the produced serratiopeptidase showed moderate activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa MTCC No. 4676 （12 mm） and Escherichia coli MTCC No. 1588 （15 mm）.

Reversible logic is a new emerging technology with many promising applications in optical information processing, low power (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) CMOS design, (De Oxy RiboNucleic Acid) DNA computing, etc. In industrial automation, comparators play an important role in segregating faulty patterns from good ones. In previous works, these comparators have been implemented with more number of reversible gates and computational complexity. All these comparators use propagation technique to compare the data. This will reduce the efficiency of the comparators. To overcome the problem, this paper proposes an efficient comparator using (Thapliyal Ranganathan) TR gate utilizing full subtraction and half subtraction algorithm which will improve the computation efficiency. The comparator design using half subtraction algorithm shows an improvement in terms of quantum cost. The comparator design using full subtraction algorithm shows effectiveness in reducing number of reversible gates required and garbage output.

In computing architecture, ALU plays a major role. Many promising applications are possible with ATMEGA microcontroller. ALU is a part of these microcontrollers. The performance of these microcontrollers can be improved by applying Reversible Logic and Vedic Mathematics. In this paper, an efficient reversible Arithmetic and Logic Unit with reversible Vedic Multiplier is proposed and the simulation results show its effectiveness in reducing quantum cost, number of gates, and the total number of logical calculations.

In this modern era, power generation seems to be a very demanding factor. New models and methods have been proposed to derive from various natural and manmade resources. In such instances, this paper gives a detailed report on the power generation from Micro Turbines. Micro turbine plays a very important role in electric power generation. Especially they are used in the combined cycle process power plants. The parameters of Rowen’s model 265-MW single shaftheavy duty gas turbines which are used in dynamic studies are estimated in this paper using the operational and performance data. These data are also used to briefly explain the extraction of parameters of the used model. Micro turbine parameters are approximated using simple thermodynamics assumptions. Micro turbine power generation seems to be an uprising and a promising source and an exact design with a perfect model is capable of producing the highest efficiency. Thus this paper is proposed on the aspects of social awareness to elaborate the control design of Micro Turbine Power Generation System. The parameters of micro turbine models are derived and the results of several simulated tests using Matlab/Simulink are presented.

A semisynthetic polymer of carboxymethyl sago cellulose (CMSC) was synthesized from Malaysian sago biomass and further used in the development of drug delivery system. Recently, we have reported spray-dried carboxymethyl sago cellulose (CMSC) microspheres for enteric release and dissolution enhancement of piroxicam. In the present investigation, an attempt has been made to improve the enteric release property of CMSC microspheres using aluminium chloride as a cross-linker in the spray drying process and prednisolone as a model drug. CMSC microspheres loaded with prednisolone were prepared using a cross-linker concentration of 0%, 0.01%, 0.025% and 0.05%. All the drug-loaded microspheres were found to have high drug entrapment efficiencies (DEE) ranging from 99% to 106.1%. FT-IR spectroscopy has confirmed the cross-linking in CMSC microspheres as well as intact and amorphous nature of the entrapped drug. Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM) results have shown agglomeration of microspheres and the presence of drugs on the surface. Cross-linked microspheres have shown better efficiency than the uncross-linked microspheres in restricting drug release in stomach pH. Only about 5% of the loaded drug was released from cross-linked microspheres at pH 1.2 while 10% of the drug was released from uncross-linked microspheres. Also, cross-linked microspheres have exhibited faster drug release in pH 6.8 than the uncross-linked microspheres. Spray-dried and AlCl3 cross-linked CMSC microspheres have shown promising results in enteric drug delivery as well as dissolution enhancement.

In industrial drives, electric motors are extensively utilized to impart motion control and induction motors are the most familiar drive at present due to its extensive performance characteristic similar with that of DC drives. Precise control of drives is the main attribute in industries to optimize the performance and to increase its production rate. In motion control, the major considerations are the torque and speed ripples. Design of controllers has become increasingly complex to such systems for better management of energy and raw materials to attain optimal performance. Meager parameter appraisal results are unsuitable, leading to unstable operation. The rapid intensification of digital computer revolutionizes to practice precise control and allows implementation of advanced control strategy to extremely multifaceted systems. To solve complex control problems, model predictive control is an authoritative scheme, which exploits an explicit model of the process to be controlled. This paper presents a predictive control strategy by a neural network predictive controller based single phase induction motor drive to minimize the speed and torque ripples. The proposed method exhibits better performance than the conventional controller and validity of the proposed method is verified by the simulation results using MATLAB software.

Optimal Extraction of Photovoltaic Model Parameters Using Gravitational Search Algorithm Approach

Extraction of accurate Photo Voltaic (PV) model parameters is a challenging task for PV simulator developers. To mitigate this challenging task a novel approach using Gravitational Search Algorithm (GSA) for accurate extraction of PV model parameters is proposed in this paper. GSA is a population based heuristic optimization method which depends on the law of gravity and mass interactions. In this optimization method, the searcher agents are collection of masses which interact with each other using laws of gravity and motion of Newton. The developed PV model utilizes mathematical equations and is described through an equivalent circuit model comprising of a current source, a diode, a series resistor and a shunt resistor including the effect of changes in solar irradiation and ambient temperature. The optimal values of photo-current, diode ideality factor, series resistance and shunt resistance of the developed PV model are obtained by using GSA. The simulations of the characteristic curves of PV modules (SM55, ST36 and ST40) are carried out using MATLAB/Simulink environment. Results obtained using GSA are compared with Differential Evolution (DE), which shows that GSA based parameters are better optimal when compared to DE.
