Background In addition to hematopoietic effect, the erythropoietin is known as a multifunctional cytokine with anti-fibrosis and organ-protective activities. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of recombinant human erythropoietin （rhEPO） on hepatic fibrosis and hepatic stellate cells （HSCs）. Methods Carbon tetrachloride （CCI4） induced hepatic fibrosis mice models were used for in vivo study and HSCs line for in vitro study. CCI4 and rhEPO （0,200 or 1000 U/kg） was injected intraperitoneally in BALB/c mice three times a week for 4 weeks. Immunohistochemistry and immunoblotting were performed to evaluate expressions of transforming growth factor-β1 （TGF-β1）, α-smooth muscle actin （α-SMA）, and fibronectin in explanted liver. Immunoblotting of α-SMA, phophorylated Smad-2 and Smad-2/3 was performed in HSCs treated with TGF-β1 and/or rhEPO. Results Expressions of TGF-β1, α-SMA, and fibronectin were increased in CCI4 injected mice livers, but significantly attenuated by co-treatment with CCI4 and rhEPO. Co-treatment of rhEPO markedly suppressed fibrosis in Masson＇s trichrome compared with treatment of only CCI4. TGF-β1 increased phosphorylated α-SMA, Smad-2 expressions in HSCs, which were decreased by rhEPO co-treatment. Conclusions Treatment of rhEPO effectively suppressed fibrosis in CCI4-induced liver fibrosis mice models. Anti-fibrosis effect of rhEPO could be related to inhibition of TGF-β1 induced activation of HSCs.

The CarbonTracker(CT) model has been used in previous studies for understanding and predicting the sources, sinks, and dynamics that govern the distribution of atmospheric CO_2 at varying ranges of spatial and temporal scales. However, there are still challenges for reproducing accurate model-simulated CO_2 concentrations close to the surface, typically associated with high spatial heterogeneity and land cover. In the present study, we evaluated the performance of nested-grid CT model simulations of CO_2 based on the CT2016 version through comparison with in-situ observations over East Asia covering the period 2009–13. We selected sites located in coastal, remote, inland, and mountain areas. The results are presented at diurnal and seasonal time periods. At target stations, model agreement with in-situ observations was varied in capturing the diurnal cycle. Overall, biases were less than 6.3 ppm on an all-hourly mean basis, and this was further reduced to a maximum of 4.6 ppm when considering only the daytime. For instance, at Anmyeondo, a small bias was obtained in winter, on the order of 0.2 ppm. The model revealed a diurnal amplitude of CO_2 that was nearly flat in winter at Gosan and Anmyeondo stations, while slightly overestimated in the summertime. The model's performance in reproducing the diurnal cycle remains a challenge and requires improvement. The model showed better agreement with the observations in capturing the seasonal variations of CO_2 during daytime at most sites, with a correlation coefficient ranging from 0.70 to 0.99. Also, model biases were within-0.3 and 1.3 ppm, except for inland stations(7.7 ppm).

Organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite solar cells (PSCs) are attracting tremendous attention for new-generation photovoltaic devices because of their excellent power conversion efficiency and simple fabrication process. One of the various approaches to increase the efficiency of PSCs is to change the material or structure of the carrier transport layer. Here, optically long and electrically short structural concept is proposed to enhance the characteristics of a PSC by employing selectively grown single crystalline TiO2 nanorods. The approach has the merit of increasing the electro n-hole separati on effectively and en ables a thicker active layer to be coated without electrical loss by using TiO2 nano rods as an electr on pathway. Moreover, selectively grow n TiO2 nano rods in crease the optical path of the in cide nt light via scatteri ng effects and en able a smooth coati ng of the active layer. Nano imprint lithography and hydrothermal growth were employed to fabricate selectively grow n TiO2 nanorod substrates. The fabricated solar cell exhibits an efficiency of 19.86% with a current density, open-circuit voltage, and fill factor of 23.13 mA/cm^2, 1.120 V, and 76.69%, respectively. Time-resolved photoluminescence, ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy, and the incident phot on to current efficiency (IPCE) an alysis were conducted to understand the factors resp on sible for the improvement in characteristics of the fabricated PSCs.

Various early Paleozoic （Cambrian Series 3-Middle Ordovician） reefs are found in the Taebaek Group, eastern Korea, located in the eastern margin of the Sino-Korean Block. They occur in every carbonate-dominant lithostratigraphic unit of the group, but their morphology and composition differ markedly. The Daegi Formation （middle Cambrian： Cambrian Series 3） contains siliceous sponge-Epiphyton reefs formed in a shallow subtidal environment, which is one of the earliest metazoan-bearing microbial reefs after the archaeocyath extinction. The Hwajeol Formation （upper Cambrian： Furongian） encloses sporadic dendrolites consisting of Angulocellularia, which developed in a relatively deep subtidal environment, representing a rare deeper water example. The onset of the Ordovician radiation resulted in the formation of microbialite-Archaeoscyphia-calathiid patch reefs in shallow subtidal deposits of the Lower Ordovician Dumugol Formation. Subsequent late Early Ordovician relative sea-level fall established extensive peritidal environments, forming microbial mats and stromatolites of the Lower-Middle Ordovician Makgol Formation. Ensuing Ordovician radiation resulted in one of the earliest metazoan skeletal reefs of the Middle Ordovician Duwibong Formation, constructed by stromatoporoid Cystostroma and bryozoan Nicholsonella, and developed around shallow shoals. These reefs reflect ongoing evolution and sea-level change during the early Paleozoic, and exemplify a rare glimpse of peri-Gondwanan records of reef evolution, which warrant detailed investigations and comparison with their counterparts in other regions.

This study compares and analyzes stereotactic radiotherapy using tomotherapy and linac-based fractionated stereotactic radiotherapy in the treatment of intra-cranial tumors,according to some *** this study,linac-based fractionated stereotactic radiotherapy and tomotherapy treatment were administered to five patients diagnosed with intra-cranial cancer in which the dose of 18–20 Gy was applied on 3–5 separate *** tumor dosing was decided by evaluating the inhomogeneous index （II） and conformity index （CI）.Also,the radiation-sensitive tissue was evaluated using low dose factors V1,V2,V3,V4,V5,and V10,as well as the non-irradiation ratio volume （NIV）.The values of the II for each prescription dose in the linacbased non-coplanar radiotherapy plan and tomotherapy treatment plan were （0.125±0.113） and （0.090±0.180）,respectively,and the values of the CI were （0.899±0.149） and （0.917±0.114）,*** low dose areas,V1,V2,V3,V4,V5,and V10,in radiation-sensitive tissues in the linac-based non-coplanar radiotherapy plan fell into the ranges 0.3%–95.6%,0.1%–87.6%,0.1%–78.8%,38.8%–69.9%,26.6%–65.2%,and 4.2%–39.7%,respectively,and the tomotherapy treatment plan had ranges of 13.6%–100%,3.5%–100%,0.4%–94.9%,0.2%– 82.2%,0.1%–78.5%,and 0.3%–46.3%,*** the NIV for each organ,it is possible to obtain similar values except for the irradiation area of the brain *** percentages of NIV10%,NIV20%,and NIV30%for the brain stem in each patient were 15%–99.8%,33.4%–100%,and 39.8%–100%,respectively,in the fractionated stereotactic treatment plan and 44.2%–96.5%,77.7%–99.8%,and 87.8%–100%,respectively,in the tomotherapy treatment *** order to achieve higher-quality treatment of intra-cranial tumors,treatment plans should be tailored according to the isodose target volume,inhomogeneous index,conformity index,position of the tumor upon fractionated stereotactic radiosurgery,and radiation dosage for radiation-sensitive tissues.

Clinical characteristics of sibling patients with comitant strabismus

AIM：To investigate the clinical characteristics of sibling patients with comitant strabismus. METHODS：Sibling patients who were diagnosed with comitant strabismus from January 2005 to December 2014 were retrospectively reviewed. Factors including age, sex, types of strabismus, refractive errors, angle of deviation, and coexistence of other strabismus were analyzed. RESULTS：A total of 62 patients（31 pairs of siblings） were included. Of these, 26 pairs had intermittent exotropia, 3 had accommodative esotropia, and 2 had infantile esotropia. There were no pairs with different subtypes of strabismus. The age at first visit was 3.7±2.6y and the mean follow-up period was 30.5±24.1mo. In siblings with intermittent exotropia, there was no difference in age of onset, age at operation, or refractive errors between the first and second-born children. The 20（77%） pairs of siblings with exotropia showed more than 80% concordance of maximum angle of deviation during follow-up. In the 9 pairs in which both siblings had an operation, the final angle of deviation after the operation was 8.2±8.1 prism diopters（PD） in first-born children and 8.6±6.5 PD in second-born children. CONCLUSION：The subtypes of strabismus are the same in all pairs of siblings and clinical characteristics of strabismus are similar between the first and secondborn children. This similarity could be an indicator for the diagnosis of second-born children. Further prospective study including a larger number of sibling patients is needed.

Background and Method:The genetic cause of infantile-onset cardiomyopathy is rarely ***,we conducted whole exome sequencing(WES)and mitochondrial DNA(mtDNA)sequencing in eight patients with infantile-onset cardiomyopathy to identify genetic ***:Among these patients,two(25%)had dilated cardiomyopathy(DCMP),two(25%)had left ventricular non-compaction(LVNC),and four(50%)had hypertrophic cardiomyopathy(HCMP).Except four patients identified prenatally,the remaining patients presented at a median age of 85.5 *** identified genetic variants in a total of seven(87.5%)patients and mtDNA sequencing in the other ***1 and MYH7 variants were identified in the two patients with DCMP;MYH11 and MYLK2 variants in the two patients with LVNC;HRAS,BRAF,and MYH7 variants in three patients with HCMP;and MT-ND1 variant in one patient with HCMP having high blood lactic acid *** the eight variants,four were classified as pathogenic or likely-pathogenic according to the American College of Medical Genetics(ACMG)guidelines,and the remaining were identified as variants of unknown significance(VUSs).Three pathogenic mutations were de novo,whereas four(likely-pathogenic or VUSs)were inherited from a respective parent,excluding one variant where parental testing was unavailable,questioning whether these inherited variants are *** patients died before 3 months of ***:Genomic studies,such as WES with additional mtDNA sequencing,can identify a genetic variant in high proportions of patients with infantile-onset *** clinical implication of the parentally inherited variant needs to be assessed in a larger patient and family cohort with a longitudinal follow-up.

The friction coefficient between tube and die in guide zone of tube hydroforming was obtained. In hydroforming, the tube is expanded by an internal pressure against the tool wall. By pushing the tube through tool, a friction force at the contact surface between the tube and the tool occurs. In guiding zone, the friction coefficients between tube and die can be estimated from the measured axial feeding forces. In expansion zone, the friction coefficients between tube and die can be evaluated from the measured geometries of expanded tubes and FE analysis.

黄龙病作为柑橘类水果最具毁灭性的疾病之一,目前尚无有效的治愈手段,因此疾病预防成为已知的唯一有效方法。基于四种柑橘叶片(健康叶片、黄龙病叶片、铁缺乏叶片及氮缺乏叶片)VIS-NIR的反射光谱详细讨论了黄龙病的辨别方法以及在判别模型中光谱特征值的提取方法。在两类判别分析的特征值提取方法中,判别值(discriminability)运算的引入,为特征值提取提供了一个可靠依据,判别值越大表明光谱差异性越大。以被选特征值建立的Fisher线性判别分析模型,黄龙病与健康、铁缺乏、氮缺乏叶片的分类判别预测准确率分别都超过了90%,分类效果符合预期。最后,又讨论了分类树(classificationTree)在多类判别中的应用。通过对柑橘叶片原始反射谱,一阶导数谱及被选特征值分别建立分类模型,四种柑橘叶片平均预测准确度都超过88%,尤其是基于特征值的分类结果更是超过94%,验证了在多类判别中检测柑橘黄龙病的可行性及特征值提取的重要性。结合传统分类方法(k-NN,Bayesian)的结果分析,特征值作为输入变量的分类结果明显要优于原始光谱,证实了特征值选取的正确性,并为将来基于光谱特征值开发多光谱成像技术检测黄龙病打下坚实的基础。

讨论了基于高光谱成像技术光谱及纹理特征在识别早期柑橘黄龙病中的应用。使用一套近地高光谱成像系统采集了176枚柑橘叶片的高光谱图像作为实验样品,其中健康叶片60枚,黄龙病叶片60枚,缺锌叶片56枚。手工选取每幅叶片高光谱图像的病斑位置作为样品感兴趣区域（regions of interest,ROI）,计算其平均光谱反射率,并以此作为样品的反射光谱,光谱范围为396～1 010nm。样品光谱分别经过主成分分析（PXA）及连续投影算法（SPA）进行数据降维,再结合最小二乘支持向量机（LS-SVM）分类器建立分类模型。相比原始光谱,由PCA选取的前四个主成分及SPA选取的一组最佳波长组合（630.4,679.4,749.4和899.9 nm）建立的模型拥有更好的分类识别能力,其对三类柑橘叶片平均预测准确率分别为89.7%和87.4%。同时,从被选四个波长的每幅灰度图像中提取6个灰度直方图的纹理特征以及9个灰度共生矩阵的纹理特征再次构建分类模型。经SPA优选的10个纹理特征值进一步提高了分类效果,对三类柑橘叶片的识别正确率达到了100%,93.3%和92.9%。实验结果表明,同时包含光谱信息及空间纹理信息的高光谱图像在柑橘黄龙病的识别中显示了很大的潜力。
