In the domain of perovskite solar cells(PSCs),the imperative to reconcile impressive photovoltaic performance with lead-related issue and environmental stability has driven innovative solutions.This study pioneers an approach that not only rectifies lead leakage but also places paramount importance on the attainment of rigorous interfacial passivation.Crown ethers,notably benzo-18-crown-6-ether(B18C6),were strategically integrated at the perovskite-hole transport material interface.Crown ethers exhibit a dual role:efficiently sequestering and immobilizing Pb^(2+)ions through host-guest complexation and simultaneously establishing a robust interfacial passivation layer.Selected crown ether candidates,guided by density functional theory(DFT)calculations,demonstrated proficiency in binding Pb2+ions and optimizing interfacial energetics.Photovoltaic devices incorporating these materials achieved exceptional power conversion efficiency(PCE),notably 21.7%for B18C6,underscoring their efficacy in lead binding and interfacial passivation.Analytical techniques,including time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry(ToF-SIMS),ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy(UPS),time-resolved photoluminescence(TRPL),and transient absorption spectroscopy(TAS),unequivocally affirmed Pb^(2+)ion capture and suppression of non-radiative recombination.Notably,these PSCs maintained efficiency even after enduring 300 h of exposure to 85%relative humidity.This research underscores the transformative potential of crown ethers,simultaneously addressing lead binding and stringent interfacial passivation for sustainable PSCs poised to commercialize and advance renewable energy applications.

As true for any cancer,intrinsic and acquired drug resistance represent perhaps the single biggest obstacle limiting our ability to cure patients with metastatic disease.Yet,tackling this challenge has been particularly difficult for sarcoma.First and foremost,sarcomas are rare and diverse,which splits a class of tumors representing less than 1 percent of all malignancies into more than fifty smaller molecularly and histologically distinct entities,each having its own etiology,prognosis,and clinical presentation.Even the most“common”sarcoma subtypes(e.g.,liposarcoma,leiomyosarcoma,or gastrointestinal stromal tumors)have annual incidences in the thousands in the United States,whereas rarer subtypes like desmoplastic small round cell tumors number less than fifty per year.Due to their scarcity,it’s not uncommon for just a few cell lines,organoids,or patient-derived tumor explants to exist for each sarcoma subtype.This shortage limits their usefulness to model the wide variety of innate and adaptive mechanisms that exist in human tumors.Many times,no representative preclinical model exists.The scarcity of FDA-approved drugs aimed at sarcoma-specific targets,often fusion proteins and transcription factors,is also problematic.

Underground coal fires are one of the most common and serious geohazards in most coal producing countries in the world. Monitoring their spatio-temporal changes plays an important role in controlling and preventing the effects of coal fires, and their environmental impact. In this study, the spatio-temporal changes of underground coal fires in Khanh Hoa coal field(North-East of Viet Nam) were analyzed using Landsat time-series data during the 2008-2016 period. Based on land surface temperatures retrieved from Landsat thermal data, underground coal fires related to thermal anomalies were identified using the MEDIAN+1.5×IQR(IQR: Interquartile range) threshold technique. The locations of underground coal fires were validated using a coal fire map produced by the field survey data and cross-validated using the daytime ASTER thermal infrared imagery. Based on the fires extracted from seven Landsat thermal imageries, the spatiotemporal changes of underground coal fire areas were analyzed. The results showed that the thermalanomalous zones have been correlated with known coal fires. Cross-validation of coal fires using ASTER TIR data showed a high consistency of 79.3%. The largest coal fire area of 184.6 hectares was detected in 2010, followed by 2014(181.1 hectares) and 2016(178.5 hectares). The smaller coal fire areas were extracted with areas of 133.6 and 152.5 hectares in 2011 and 2009 respectively. Underground coal fires were mainly detected in the northern and southern part, and tend to spread to north-west of the coal field.

This paper evaluates two methods of diagnosing damage, Natural frequency and Stiffness-Frequency change-Based damage detection method in reinforced concrete beams under load using vibration characteristics such as natural frequency and mode shape. The research uses finite element method with crack damage instead of deleting or reducing the bearing capacity of the element like in previous studies. First, a theory of the damage diagnosis method based on the change of natural frequency and mode shape is presented. Next, the simulation results of reinforced concrete beams using ANSYS will be compared with the experiment. Particularly, the investigated damage cases are cracks in reinforced concrete beams under loads. Finally, we will evaluate the accuracy of the damage diagnosis methods and suggest the location of the vibration data and specify the failure threshold of the methods.

Free transverse vibration of monolayer graphene, boron nitride (BN), and silicon carbide (SiC) sheets is investigated by using molecular dynamics finite element method. Eigenfrequencies and eigenmodes of these three sheets in rectangular shape are studied with different aspect ratios with respect to various boundary conditions. It is found that aspect ratios and boundary conditions affect in a similar way on natural frequencies of graphene, BN, and SiC sheets. Natural frequencies in all modes decrease with an increase of the sheet’s size. Graphene exhibits the highest natural frequencies, and SiC sheet possesses the lowest ones. Missing atoms have minor effects on natural frequencies in this study.

A strategy based on machine learning is discussed to close the gap between the detailed description of combustion chemistry and the numerical simulation of combustion systems.Indeed,the partial differential equations describ-ing chemical kinetics are stiffand involve many degrees of freedom,making their solving in three-dimensional unsteady simulations very challenging.It is discussed in this work how a reduction of the computing cost by an order of magnitude can be achieved using a set of neural networks trained for solving chemistry.The ther-mochemical database used for training is composed of time evolutions of stochastic particles carrying chemical species mass fractions and temperature according to a turbulent micro-mixing problem coupled with complex chemistry.The novelty of the work lies in the decomposition of the thermochemical hyperspace into clusters to facilitate the training of neural networks.This decomposition is performed with the Kmeans algorithm,a local principal component analysis is then applied to every cluster.This new methodology for combustion chemistry reduction is tested under conditions representative of a non-premixed syngas oxy-flame.

Importance:Nutritional status of infants,measured by birth weight and length,is an essential factor in neonatal development.Malnutrition in newborns may lead to a higher risk of mortality,neurological and cognitive impairment,and poor language development.Objective:This study aims to assess the nutritional status of infants and related factors regarding maternal anthropometric characteristics and medical history.Methods:A cross-sectional study was conducted at the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology,Vietnam from May 2021 to May 2022 on 340 infants and mothers.Low birth weight was defined following the Intergrowth-21 standards.Stunting was evaluated using the Fenton growth chart when the length was below the 10%percentile line of the gestational week.Multivariate regression models were applied to identify factors associated with the nutritional status of infants.Results:We found that 12.4%and 14.1%of infants in our study fell into stunted and underweight categories,respectively.Infants of mothers over 35 years old,having a height lower than 150 cm or experiencing anemia during pregnancy were more likely to be stunted or have low birth weight.Serum albumin deficiency during pregnancy was strongly associated with the infant being underweight(odds ratio[OR]=2.8,95%confidence interval[95%CI]1.1–7.3).Newborns were more likely to be stunted if their mothers had a history of preterm birth(OR=3.3,95%CI 1.1–10.2).Interpretation:Maternal nutritional status is closely related to infant malnutrition,particularly in preterm infants.Improving the understanding of mothers regarding prenatal care,reproductive healthcare,adequate nutritional diet,and multi-micronutrient supplements during pregnancy is therefore important.

This study aims at evidencing the effects of lime treatment on the microstructure and hydraulic conductivityof a compacted expansive clay, with emphasis put on the effect of lime hydration and modification.For this purpose, evolutions of hydraulic conductivity were investigated for both lime-treatedand untreated soil specimens over 7 d after full saturation of the specimens and their microstructureswere observed at the end. Note that for the treated specimen, dry clay powder was mixed with quicklimeprior to compaction in order to study the effect of lime hydration. It is observed that lime hydration andmodification did not affect the intra-aggregate pores but increased the inter-aggregates pores size. Thisincrease gave rise to an increase of hydraulic conductivity. More precisely, the hydraulic conductivity oflime-treated specimen increased progressively during the first 3 d of modification phase and stabilisedduring the next 4 d which correspond to a short period prior to the stabilisation phase. The microstructureobservation showed that stabilisation reactions took place after 7 d. Under the effect of stabilisation,a decreasing hydraulic conductivity can be expected in longer time due to the formation ofcementitious compounds. 2014 Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Influence of Process Factors on Electrode Wear Rate when EDM 90CrSi Steel using Graphite Electrodes

The findings of a study on the optimization of Electric Discharge Machining(EDM)procedure for processing cylindrically shaped components with graphite electrodes are presented in this paper.Tool steel 90CrSi was the material of choice for the study’s workpiece.Additionally,the Electrode Wear Rate(EWR)was chosen as the optimization problem’s objective function.An experiment using the Taguchi design was conducted to address this issue.Additionally,experiments were created and their outcomes were analyzed using the Minitab R19 program.The impact of the input process factors on EWR was investigated,including the powder concentration,the pulse on and off times,the servo current,and the servo voltage.Additionally,the best process variables for a minimal EWR were provided.
