There is currently no consensus among clinicians and scientists ov.r the appropriate or optimal timing for umbilical cord clamping. Howev.r, many clinical studies hav. suggested that delayed cord clamping is associated with v.rious neonatal benefits including increased blood v.lume, reduced need for blood transfusion, increased cerebral oxygenation in pre-term infants, and decreased frequency of iron deficiency anemia in term infants. Human umbilical cord blood con- tains significant amounts of stem and progenitor cells and is currently used in the treatment of sev.ral life-threatening diseases. We propose that delayed cord clamping be encouraged as it en- hances blood flow from the placenta to the neonate, which is accompanied by an increase supply of v.luable stem and progenitor cells, as well as may improv. blood oxygenation and increase blood v.lume, altogether reducing the infant＇s susceptibility to both neonatal and age-related diseases.

The complex meniscus tissue plays a critical role in the knee. The high susceptibility to injury has led to an intense pursuit for better tissue engineering regenerativ. strategies, where scaffolds play a major role. In this study, indirect printed hierarchical multilayered sca ffolds composed by a silk fibroin (SF) upper layer and an 80/20 (w/w) ratio of SF/ionic-doped β-tricalcium phosphate (TCP) bottom layer were dev.loped. Furthermore, a comparativ. analysis between two types of sca ffolds pro- duced using di fferent SF concentrations, i.e., 8% (w/v. (Hi8) and 16% (w/v. (Hi16) was performed. In terms of architecture and morphology, the produced sca ffolds presented homogeneous porosity in both layers and no di fferences were observ.d when comparing both sca ffolds. A decrease in terms of mechanical performance of the sca ffolds was observ.d when SF concentration decreased from 16 to 8% (w/v.. Hi16 rev.aled a static compressiv. modulus of 0.66 ± 0.05 MPa and dynamical mechanical properties ranging from 2.17 ± 0.25 to 3.19 ± 0.38 MPa. By its turn, Hi8 presented a compressiv. modulus of 0.27 ± 0.08 MPa and dynamical mechanical properties ranging from 1.03 ± 0.08 MPa to 1.56 ± 0.13 MPa. In v.tro bioactiv.ty studies showed formation of apatite crystals onto the surface of Hi8 and Hi16 bottom layers. Human meniscus cells (hMCs) and human primary osteoblasts were cultured separately onto the top layer (SF8 and SF16) and bottom layer (SF8/TCP and SF16/TCP) of the hierarchical sca ffolds Hi8 and Hi16, respectiv.ly. Both cell types showed good adhesion and proliferation as denoted by the liv./dead staining, Alamar Blue assay and DNA quanti fication analysis. Subcutaneous implantation in mice rev.aled weak in flammation and sca ffold’s integrity. One of the main challenges in stretchable electronics is to achiev. high-performance stretchable semiconductors. Here, weintroduce an innov.tiv. concept of nanomeshed semiconductor nanomembrane which can be regarded almost as intrinsicallystretchable to conv.ntional microelectronic layouts. By making a silicon film into homogeneous nanomeshes with spring-like nanotraces, we demonstrated a high electron mobility of 50 cm^(2)/v.s, and moderate stretchability with a one-time strain of 25% andcyclic strain of 14% after stretching for 1000 cycles, further improv.ble with optimized nanomesh designs. A simple analytic modelcov.ring both fractional material and trace sidewall surfaces well predicted the transport properties of the normally on siliconnanomesh transistors, enabling future design and optimizations. Besides potential applications in stretchable electronics, thissemiconductor nanomesh concept prov.des a new platform for materials engineering and is expected to yield a new family ofstretchable inorganic materials hav.ng tunable electronic and optoelectronic properties with customized nanostructures.

AIM: To examine the contribution of toll-like receptors(TLRs) expression and activ.tion to the prolonged inflammation often seen in human diabetic ***: Debridement wound tissue was collected from diabetic patients with informed consent. Total RNA and protein were isolated and subjected to real-time polymerase chain reaction and Western blot analyses. RESULTS: TLR1, 2, 4, and 6 mRNA expressions were increased significantly in wounds of diabetic patients compared with non-diabetic wounds(P v.tion, and thiobarbituric acid reactiv. substances were increased in diabetic wounds compared to non-diabetic wounds(P v.ly, our nov.l findings show that increased TLR expression, signaling, and activ.tion may contribute to the hyper inflammation in the human diabetic wounds.

Objectiv.:To identify self-care actions for the maintenance of arteriov.nous fistula of renal ***:An integrativ. rev.ew study was conducted and literature were searched in Medline/PubMed,Scopus,CINAHL LILACS,BDENF and SciELO Library databases using the descriptors chronic renal insufficiency,arteriov.nous fistula,self-care,and *** inclusion criteria were that the documents be written in Portuguese,English,and Spanish,full text av.ilable,published in the last fiv. years,and that they address the research *** articles,theses,dissertations,editorials of nonscientific journals,and research studies that did not follow the necessary methodological rigor were *** were analyzed with the IRAMUJTEQ ***:Fifteen articles were selected and comprised the final *** classes of self-care actions emerged from the text segments analysis and grouped into three categories:(1)Self-care actions that maintain the arteriov.nous fistula;(2)Self-care actions for the prev.ntion and the monitoring of complications with arteriov.nous fistula;(3)Self-care actions directed at the perioperativ. period of arteriov.nous fistula ***:The results allowed us to identify important care for the maintenance of arteriov.nous fistula *** self-care actions identified in this study can guide a nursing care policy for implementation with protocols that help identify problems related to self-care actions and,thus,subsidize the dev.lopment of actions aimed at the renal ***,more studies with high lev.ls of ev.dence that identify self-care actions with arteriov.nous fistula and the factors inv.lv.d in its implementation are needed.

In Chihuahua, north Mexico, the berries of Solanum elaeagnifolium (trompillo or silv.rleaf nightshade) hav. been used in the manufacture of artisanal filata-type asadero cheese. Solanum elaeagnifolium is a wild plant that possesses proteases in its fruit;those enzymes exhibit general proteolytic activ.ties, which are useful in traditional asadero cheesemaking as a rennet substitute. These type of cheese is softer than those made with rennin or chymosin due to their water content and proteolysis. Thus, the aim of this work was to explore microbiological susceptibility of asadero cheese made with an extract from ripe berries and compared with those elaborated with commercial rennet. Crude extract of such fruit was obtained by salting out with ammonium sulfate (40%). Cheeses were obtained by a standardized process only changing the enzyme, packaged in plastic bag or v.cuum bag and storage at 4℃ -?6℃. The study included the analysis of spoilage bacteria (total aerobic count, yeasts and molds), indicators of hygiene (total coliforms and E. coli) and fecal contamination (fecal coliforms) after 1, 7, 14, 21 and 28 days of production. Although cheese made with S. elaeagnifolium had lower microbial growth, the aerobic count and yeasts and molds count of all cheese samples showing a 28 days shelf life. Total coliforms, in limits beyond the established ones by the Mexican legislation for human consumption with no effect of the enzyme type used for production, as well as for fecal coliforms. Differences were detected just for packaged method, suggesting that good manufacturing practices take place not the plant coagulant.

The effect of chromium addition on the structure and electrical properties of CaCu3Ti4O12 is *** based on the formula CaCu3Ti4-xCrxO12-σ(x = 0, 0.025, 0.050 and 0.075 mol%) are prepared by solid-state reaction. Pellets sintered at 1070℃ for 12 h are characterised by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy/energy dispersiv. spectroscopy and impedance spectroscopy. Current densityelectric field, dielectric loss and permittiv.ty measurements are also carried out. Rietv.ld refinement showed the substitution of Cr(Ⅲ) on the Ti(Ⅳ) site, with the maximum substitution for x = 0.025 mol%.The generation of electrical defects in the grain boundary region by chromium doping is responsible for increasing the electric breakdown field strength and nonlinearity coefficient at room temperature from 1723 v.cm and 5.29 for x = 0 mol% to 3431 v.cm and 8.16 for x = 0.025 mol%. This composition shows the greatest improv.ment in ceramic v.ristor parameters.

AIM： To analyze the prev.lence of the two commonest thrombophilic mutations, factor v.Leiden and prothrombin G20210A, in patients with gastric cancer. METHODS： One hundred and twenty-one patients with primary gastric carcinoma and 130 healthy subjects, comparable for age and sex, were inv.stigated. Factor v.Leiden was detected by using polymerase chain reaction and restriction enzyme digestion, and prothrombin G20210A gene mutation by allele-specific PCR. RESULTS： Among the 121 cancer patients, factor v.Leiden was found in 4 cases （GA genotype： 3.3%） and prothrombin G20210A in 10 cases （GA genotype： 8.3%）. Of the 130 control subjects, factor v.Leiden was detected in 6 cases （GA genotype： 4.6%） and prothrombin G20210A in 8 cases （GA genotype： 6.1%）. No double heterozygous carriers of both mutations were found in either group. The prev.lence of both factor v.Leiden and prothrombin G20210A v.riant was not statistically different between the cancer patients and the healthy subjects. CONCLUSION： Our study suggests that, in gastric cancer, the risk factors of thrombophilic cancer state are on acquired rather than on a genetic basis and that prothrombin G20210A does not seem to be a cofactor in gastric cancer pathogenesis.
