Tapping declassified US Senate and Central Intelligence Agency reports, United Nations studies, and other primary sources, this study investigates the etiology, policies, and consequences of US detention policy as a part of the War on Terror. The record of the last two presidential administrations in dealing with detainees at Guantanamo b.y Naval b.se in Cub. （GITMO） and elsewhere is examined and the legal rationale for the tactics used on those in captivity is scrutinized. The study reveals that although certain features of detention policy changed from the George W. b.sh administration to the b.rack Ob.ma presidency, others remained the same. The b.nefits of information acquired from detainees is weighed and detention policy itself is evaluated according to fundamental American values.

The corrosion resistance of three Mg alloys containing rare-earth elements(WE43,EV31 and ZE41)was studied and compared to that of two Mg-Al alloys(AZ31 and AZ91)and of pure Mg(99.95 wt.%).Current-voltage curves and electrochemical impedance measurements were performed with rotating disk electrodes in an aerated 0.1 M Na_(2)SO_(4)*** all the alloys,it was confirmed that the intermetallic particles acted as local cathodes and that more protective films were formed on the alloys surface b. comparison with the pure *** rates were determined from inductive coupled plasma-optical emission spectroscopy measurements and from the electrochemical *** corrosion rates were ob.erved for the rare-earth Mg alloys compared to the AZ series *** data allowed the corrosion mechanisms to b. discussed.

This paper proposes a new two dimensional（2D） analytical model for a germanium（Ge） single gate silicon-on-insulator tunnel field effect transistor（SG SOI TFET）. The parab.lic approximation technique is used to solve the 2D Poisson equation with suitab.e b.undary conditions and analytical expressions are derived for the surfacepotential,*** is derived further b. using the electric fields. The results show that Ge b.sed TFETs have significant improvements ***heanalytical model results with the technology computer aided design（TCAD） simulation results and also comparing them with results from a silicon b.sed TFET.

AIM: To assess the agreement within 3 commonly used symptom-reflux association analysis (SAA) parameters investigating gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) in infants. METHODS: Twenty three infants with suspected GERD were included in this study. Symptom index (SI), Symptom sensitivity index (SSI) and symptom association prob.b.lity (SAP) related to cough and irritab.lity were calculated after 24 h comb.ned pH/multiple intraluminal impedance (MII) monitoring. Through defined cutoff values, SI, SSI and SAP values are differentiated in normal and ab.ormal, whereas ab.ormal values point towards gastroesophageal reflux (GER) as the origin of symptoms. We analyzed the correlation and the concordance of the diagnostic classification of these 3 SAA ***: Evaluating the GER-irritab.lity association, SI, SSI and SAP showed non-identical classification of normal and ab.ormal cases in 39.2% of the infants. When irritab.lity was taken as a symptom, there was only a poor inter-parameter association b.tween SI and SSI, and b.tween SI and SAP (Kendall’s tau b.= 0.37, P b.= 0.36, P b.ormal cases in 52.2% of the patients. When cough was taken as a symptom, only SI and SSI showed a poor inter-parameter association (Kendall’s tau b.= 0.33, P b. taken into consideration when interpreting the results of SAA in infants.

Hundreds of children died in 2010 due to suspected lead poisoning from mining sources in Zamfara State among epidemiological concerns. Evaluating ecological and human health risks of heavy metals levels in sampled food crops harvested near two ab.ndoned Lead-Zinc mining sites at Logo b.nue State is crucial. Ab.lmoschus esculentus, Carica papaya, Manihot esculenta, and Zea mays were sampled, prepared, and analyzed for four heavy metals using the Atomic Ab.orption Spectrophotometric method. The mean data from the analysis of variance was sub.ected to ecological and health risk models. Pb.means value ranged from Carica papaya Peel 0.46 ± 0.011 mg/kg to 1.30 ± 0.01 mg/kg in Zea mays seed. Zn was highest in Carica papaya flesh 0.50 ± 0.01 mg/kg, and lowest in Manihot esculenta peels and its flesh 0.12 ± 0.000 mg/kg. Hg and Cd were b.low detectab.e levels. Zea mays seeds (1.001) had the highest Pd b.oaccumulation factor. b.F of zinc and ecological indices were b.was ≥1 in Manihot esculenta flesh 1.143 and Zea mays at 1714. Cancer Risks were within permissib.e range (10-4 - 10-6). Health Risk result indicates communities around the mining area may b. at risk of lead poisoning therefore due to high contamination of samples, routine checks on heavy metals especially lead is recommended to prevent excessive b.oaccumulation in the b.dy.

Over last 20 years, extracellular matrices have b.en shown to b. useful in promoting tissue regeneration. Recently, they have b.en used and have had success in achieving neurogenesis. Recent developments in extracellular matrix design have allowed their successful in vivo incorporation to engender an environment favorab.e for neural regeneration in animal models. Promising treatments under investigation include manipulation of the intrinsic extracellular matrix and incorporation of engineered naometer-sized scaffolds through which inhib.tion of molecules serving as b.rriers to neuroregeneration and delivery of neurotrophic factors and/or cells for successful tissue regeneration can b. achieved. Further understanding of the changes incurred within the extracellular matrix following central nervous system injury will undoub.edly help design a clinically efficacious extracellular matrix scaffold that can mitigate or reverse neural degeneration in the clinical setting.

Neglecting the consumption of the material, a steady incompressib.e flow of an exothermic reacting third-grade fluid with viscous heating in a circular cylindrical pipe is numerically studied for b.th cases of constant viscosity and Reynolds＇ viscosity model. The coupled ordinary differential equations governing the flow in cylindrical coordinates, are transformed into dimensionless forms using appropriate transformations, and then solved numerically. Solutions using Maple are presented in tab.lar form and given in terms of dimensionless central fluid velocity and temperature, skin friction and heat transfer rate for three parametric values in the Reynolds＇ case. The numerical results for the velocity and temperature fields are also presented through graphs. b.furcations are discussed using shooting method. Comparisons are also made b.tween the present results and those of previous work, and thus verify the validity of the provided numerical solutions. Important properties of thermal criticality are provided for variab.e viscosity parameter and reaction order. Further numerical results are presented in the form of tab.es and graphs for transition of physical parameters, while varying certain flow and fluid material parameters. Also, the flow b.haviour of the reactive fluid of third-grade is compared with those of the Newtonian reactive fluid.
