Back.round:Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is the most common cause of cancer-related death in Saudi *** study aimed to investigate the patterns of HCC and the effect of TNM staging,Alfa-fetoprotein(AFP),and Child-Turcotte Pugh(CTP)on patients’overall survival(OS).Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted on 43 HCC patients at a single oncology center in Saudi Arabia from 2015 to *** patients had to fulfill one of the following criteria:(a)a liver lesion reported as definitive HCC on dynamic imaging and/or(b)a biopsy-confirmed ***:The mean patient age of all HCC cases was 66.8 with a male-to-female ratio of 3.3:*** patients were stratified into two groups:viral HCC(n=22,51%)and non-viral HCC(n=21,49%).Among viral-HCC patients,55%were due to HBV and 45%due to *** was diagnosed in 79%of *** and sex did not significantly statistically differ in OS among viral and non-viral HCC patients(p-value>0.05).About 65%of patients had tumor size>5 cm during the diagnosis,with a significant statistical difference in OS(p-value=0.027).AFP was>400 ng/ml in 45%of the *** was a statistically significant difference in the OS in terms of AFP levels(p-value=0.021).A statistically significant difference was also observed between the CTP score and OS(p-value=0.02).CTP class B had the longest *** was the most common treatment provided to HCC patients followed by sorafenib *** was a significant statistical difference in OS among viral and non-viral HCC patients(p-value=0.008).Conclusions:The most common predictors for OS were the underlying cause of HCC,AFP,and tumor *** having non-viral etiology,a tumor size>5 cm,an AFP>400 ng/mL,and a CTP score class C were all negatively associated with OS.

It has been an established fact that comminution processes, crushing and grinding, are most energy intensive processes which account for more than half of the total energy consumed in mineral *** alternative pre-treatment methods have been tried by experts around the globe. Although these methods yielded positive results in terms of reduction in energy consumption in crushing and particularly, in grinding operations at laboratory scale, their industrial application still remains an unresolved issue and challenge. Present review paper describes each one of these methods along with outcome of earlier studies and issues that need to be addressed through further rigorous experimental *** also suggests the direction in which future studies can be carried out to meet the primary objective of mak.ng comminution processes more energy efficient than today they are.

This study presents a numerical investigation into the equilibrium shapes and snapthrough response of an innovative bistable symmetric composite *** proposed design is a compound plate that consists of a symmetric flat platform followed by a winglet that utilizes the modified hybrid bistable symmetric laminate recently developed in the *** hybrid layup of the winglet resolves the issue of losing the bistability of the unsymmetric laminate when attached to another *** approximate analytical model based on the Rayleigh-Ritz method is developed for the compound plate that considers the geometric nonlinearity,the clamping conditions at the wing root,and the compatibility conditions at the *** static equilibrium positions predicted by the model were verified against the ABAQUS finite element(FE)results and an excellent agreement was *** influence of the geometrical and material parameters of the proposed design on the static equilibrium shapes and the snapthrough response was *** following parameters were considered:the length ratio of the flat plate to the bistable winglet,the thick.ess and location of the bidirectional glass epoxy layers,the load location,and the wing’s taperness and aspect *** parameters were found significant,and their effects were *** novelty of this work.is that it presents the equilibrium shapes and the snapthrough response of a bistable laminate as a part of a bigger compliant structure,which mimics the scenario in real-life applications.

The location of exhaust air vents of an evaporative cooling system can have significant effects on providing thermal comfort and controlling humidity, temperature and air distribution in buildings. In the current study, four different strategies have been evaluated for exhaust air vent locations to provide the optimum thermal comfort inside a typical residential house. This study provides a numerical solution for temperature and relative humidity profiles in the residential house and within the living space in each room typically at a height of 1.8 m or less. By evaluating different exhaust air vent locations in a room, the best strategy(ies) to provide more appropriate thermal comfort condition and obtained and as a conclusion, the exhaust vents should be located on furthest wall away from the entrance of the room and in the middle. The results provided in the current study can eventually be applied in the design of evaporative cooler exhaust vent systems in residential buildings and lead to improve the performance of these systems.

In this paper,we investigate the stability and convergence of a family of implicit finite difference schemes in time and Galerk.n finite element methods in space for the numerical solution of the acoustic wave *** schemes cover the classical explicit second-order leapfrog scheme and the fourth-order accurate scheme in time obtained by the modified equation *** derive general stability conditions for the family of implicit schemes covering some well-k.own CFL *** error estimates are *** sufficiently smooth solutions,we demonstrate that the maximal error in the L^(2)-norm error over a finite time interval converges optimally as O(h^(p+1)+∆t^(s)),where p denotes the polynomial degree,s=2 or 4,h the mesh size,and∆t the time step.

A method with simulation and analysis of the resin flow in a screw is presented to ease the control of some problems that may affect the efficiency and the quality of the product among existing screws in an injection machine. The physical model of a screw is established to represent the stress, the strain, the relationship between velocity and stress, and the temperature of the cells. In this paper, a work.ng case is considered where the velocity and the temperature distributions at any section of the flow are obtained. The analysis of the computational results shows an ability to master various parameters depending on the specifications.

We propose a new method for smoothly interpolating a given set of data points on Grassmann and Stiefel manifolds using a generalization of the De Casteljau *** that end,we reduce interpolation problem to the classical Euclidean setting,allowing us to directly leverage the extensive toolbox of spline *** interpolated curve enjoy a number of nice properties:The solution exists and is optimal in many common *** applications,the structures with respect to chosen Riemannian metrics are detailed resulting in additional computational advantages.
