Lignocellulosic materials(LCMs),abundant biomass residues,pose signiﬁcant environmental challenges when improperly disposed ***,such as sugarcane bagasse,rice straw,saw dust and agricultural residues,are abun-dant but often burned,contributing to air pollution and greenhouse gas *** review explores the potential of transforming these materials into high-value carbon nanomaterials(CNMs).We explore the potential of transforming these materials into high-value *** employing techniques like carbonization and activa-tion,LCMs can be converted into various CNMs,including carbon nanotubes(CNTs),graphene(G),graphene oxide(GO),carbon quantum dots(CQDs),nanodiamonds(NDs),fullerenes(F),carbon nanoﬁbers(CNFs),and *** different carbon allotropes further enhances their *** derived from cellulose,lignin,and hemicellulose exhibit promising applications in diverseﬁ*** instance,CNTs can be used in energy storage devices like batteries and supercapacitors due to their exceptional electrical conductivity and mechanical ***,CNTs can be incorporated into recycled paper as aﬁre retardant additive,enhancing itsﬂame resistance.G,renowned for its high surface area and excellent electrical conductivity,ﬁnds applications in electronics,sensors,catalysis,and water treatment,where it can be used to adsorb heavy metal ***,owing to their unique optical properties,are used in bioimaging,drug delivery,and optoelectronic *** harnessing the potential of LCMs,we can not only mitigate environmental concerns but also contri-bute to a sustainable *** research is essential to optimize synthesis methods,explore novel applica-tions,and unlock the full potential of these versatile materials.

Lanthanum-bearing iron lithium borate glass is a quaternary system for oxide glasses and was prepared via the melt-quenching *** present article correlates the structure,optical,ligand field and M?ssbauer data on iron lithium borate glass co ntaining La^(3+).The density was measured,while the molar volume was *** physical parameters are *** increasing the La_(2)O_(3) content within the glass network,infrared spectra analysis reveals structural modifications such as the increase in BO_(4) units and the decline in both BO_(3) units and NBO bonds ***,optical absorption spectra were *** absorption spectra disclose a plethora of electronic transitions that are related to Fe^(3+)in tetrahedral and octahedral sites,however,Fe^(2+)phase is not observed in optical spectra,but it has a clear signature in M?ssbauer ***,the glass absorption edges undergo a clear blue shift,reflecting an increased band gap energy(1.96-2.28 eV).The decline in NBO bonds justifies this ***,the values of crystal field splitting are increased,while the values of Racah parameters are *** trend is justified by the decline in NBO bonds and increases electron localization around Fe cations.M?ssbauer spectra confirm the existence of Fe^(3+)in tetrahedral and octahedral sites,while Fe^(2+)exists in only a tetrahedral *** increasing La_(2)O_(3) content,the isomer shift of Fe^(3+)in tetrahedral sites changes to be 0.312-0.329 mm/s,while the isomer shift of octahedral Fe^(3+)is 0.424-0.456 mm/*** findings coincide with optical *** the isomer shift of tetrahedral Fe^(2+)is 0.902-0.911 mm/*** results of structural,optical and ligand field associated with M?ssbauer spectra open more vistas toward the utility of these samples in the optics realm.

Retained foreign bodies are commonly seen in both the emergency department (ED) and the outpatient setting.^([1,2])The associated complications include inflammation,delayed healing,infection,damage to surrounding tissues,and disability.^([3,4])While most foreign bodies are locatable during an extensive wound-probing physical exam,they can be missed even when a welltrained clinician performs a thorough history and physical exam.^([5])Therefore,they are often a cause of malpractice litigations in the ED.

Objective:To investigate the cardioprotective effect of naringenin against isoproterenol(ISO)-induced cardiotoxicity in ***:Rats were divided into five groups:the normal group,the ISO group(85 mg/kg b.w.);the ISO+naringenin(50 mg/kg b.w.)group,the ISO+naringenin(100 mg/kg b.w.)group and the ISO+propranolol(10 mg/kg b.w.)*** creatine kinase-MB(CK-MB),cardiac troponin T,lactate dehydrogenase,brain natriuretic peptide(BNP),and IL-10,as well as cardiac transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β1),vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)and malondialdehyde(MDA)were *** addition,NLRP3 and mRNA-208a expressions were evaluated by RT-PCR *** examination was also performed to assess cardiac ***:Naringenin treatment significantly decreased plasma lactate dehydrogenase,CK-MB,cardiac troponin T,BNP,and IL-10,as well as cardiac TGF-β1,VEGF,and MDA while increasing p-Akt and superoxide dismutase in ISO-administered *** also reduced NLRP3 and mRNA-208a gene expression ***,naringenin improved ISO-induced cardiac ***:Naringenin attenuates myocardial dysfunction in ISO-treated rats by decreasing oxidative stress and increasing cardiac endogenous antioxidant system,which may be modulated partly by improvement of NLRP3 and mRNA-208a gene expression.

This study highlights the regulatory potential antibacterial and antiradical of Origanum elongatum essential oil(EO),an endemic medicinal plant of Morocco used for its various *** chemical composition of the EO was characterized using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS).The antibacterial activity against different agricultural phytopathogens was determined by disc diffusion and microatmosphere methods,as well as by the determination of minimum inhibitory concentrations(MIC)and minimum bactericidal concentration(MBC),while the antioxidant activity was evaluated by DPPH and FRAP *** complement the experimental analyses,a molecular docking approach was used to predict and elucidate the mechanisms of action of the identified bioactive com-pounds,both for their antioxidant and antibacterial *** GC-MS analysis revealed a chemical composition dominated by the major compounds:p-cymene-2-ol(25.31%),thymol(23.88%),andγ-terpinene(19.26%).Furthermore,antibacterial analyses performed using different methodological approaches(disc diffusion,microatmosphere,MIC,and MBC)showed significant inhibitory activity against all phytopathogens ***,*** EO exhibited interesting antioxidant ability with an IC_(50) value of 168.251.14μg/mL for DPPH assay and EC_(50) value±of 164.221.04μg/mL for FRAP ***,in silico molecular docking demonstrated further insights into±the interactions between the oil’s active components and bacterial targets,supporting its mode of *** in-depth characterization highlights the potential of *** EO as a natural alternative for the biocontrol of plant *** opens new perspectives for developing natural solutions to protect crops against plant diseases.

Background:Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is the most common cause of cancer-related death in Saudi *** study aimed to investigate the patterns of HCC and the effect of TNM staging,Alfa-fetoprotein(AFP),and Child-Turcotte Pugh(CTP)on patients’overall survival(OS).Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted on 43 HCC patients at a single oncology center in Saudi Arabia from 2015 to *** patients had to fulfill one of the following criteria:(a)a liver lesion reported as definitive HCC on dynamic imaging and/or(b)a biopsy-confirmed ***:The mean patient age of all HCC cases was 66.8 with a male-to-female ratio of 3.3:*** patients were stratified into two groups:viral HCC(n=22,51%)and non-viral HCC(n=21,49%).Among viral-HCC patients,55%were due to HBV and 45%due to *** was diagnosed in 79%of *** and sex did not significantly statistically differ in OS among viral and non-viral HCC patients(p-value>0.05).About 65%of patients had tumor size>5 cm during the diagnosis,with a significant statistical difference in OS(p-value=0.027).AFP was>400 ng/ml in 45%of the *** was a statistically significant difference in the OS in terms of AFP levels(p-value=0.021).A statistically significant difference was also observed between the CTP score and OS(p-value=0.02).CTP class B had the longest *** was the most common treatment provided to HCC patients followed by sorafenib *** was a significant statistical difference in OS among viral and non-viral HCC patients(p-value=0.008).Conclusions:The most common predictors for OS were the underlying cause of HCC,AFP,and tumor *** having non-viral etiology,a tumor size>5 cm,an AFP>400 ng/mL,and a CTP score class C were all negatively associated with OS.

Developing favorable bio-based polymers that replace petroleum-based plastics is an essential environmental *** is a by-product of the chemical pulping *** is a natural UV protection ingredient in broad-spectrum(UVA and UVB)*** could be partially and selectively acetylated in a simple,fast,and more reliable *** this work,a composite film was prepared with UV-resistant properties through a casting ***-based cellulose acetate(CA)was employed as a major matrix while nano-acetylated kraft lignin(AL-NPs)was used as filler during synthesizing UV-shielding films loaded with various amounts(1–5 wt.%)of *** lignin was acetylated through a simple and fast microwave-assisted process using acetic acid as a solvent and acetylating *** physicochemical and morphological characteristics of the prepared films were evaluated using different methods,including scanning electron microscopy(SEM),Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy(FTIR),X-ray diffraction analysis(XRD),mechanical testing and contact angle *** UV-Vis spectroscopy optical investigation of the prepared films revealed that AL-NPs in the CA matrix showed strong UV *** feature demonstrated the effectiveness of our research in developing UV-resistant bio-based polymer ***,the prepared films can be considered as successful candidates to be applied in packaging applications.

Soft clays are usually classified according to their undrained shear strength,*** of Su less than 12.5 kPa are associated with very soft *** addition to their low shear strength,soft clays exhibit high compressibility upon ***,soft clays are considered to be problematic for foundation ***-foam is an industrial material that is characterized by a very low unit weight(20 kg/m^(3) on average)compared to that of the *** density of expanded polystyrene(EPS)ranges from 1.0%to 2.5%,which results in a compressive strength ranging between 70 kPa and 140 kPa and an elastic modulus ranging between 5 MPa and 12 *** geofoam blocks are used in a wide range of geotechnical applications as a lightweight fill *** main objective of this study was to investigate the geotechnical properties of soft clays containing geo-foam beads and cement bypass dust(CBPD).We also investigated the viability of preparing low-strength excavatable fill *** study the effect of(geofoam beads+CBPD)/soft clay on the fluid-state and hardened properties of new fill,we conducted experiments on two groups of mixtures(A&B).Each mixture contained different ratios of geo-foam beads and CBPD so that we could study the effect of the additive on the flow consistency,dry unit weight,unconfined compressive strength,and shear strength of the *** test results showed that the unconfined compressive strength of the studied mixtures without geo-foam ranged from 271.8 kPa to 1405.14 kPa at CBPD concentrations between 3.88%and 18.63%.The cohesion values for the group containing geo-foam ranged from 50 kPa to 20 kPa at geo-foam percentages between 0.32%and 1.35%.The friction angle of the group containing geo-foam ranged from 10 kPa to 22 kPa at CBPD percentages between 0.32%and 1.35%.Cement bypass dust can be successfully used to process self-compacting,self-leveling,excavatable and flowable fill material.

A novel magnetic hydrogel loaded with graphene oxide(GO)was developed in this ***,GO was prepared from bagasse through a single step via oxidation in the presence of ferrocene under muffled atmospheric conditions,followed by the loading of different amounts of magnetite onto GO via co-precipitation reaction of iron onto GO ***,the 2-acrylamido-2-methyl-1-propane sulfonic acid was grafted onto carboxymethyl cellulose in the presence of magnetite GO and N,N′-methylenebisacrylamide as crosslinker yielded *** structure,morphological,and thermal behavior of the prepared hydrogels were *** addition,the adsorption performance of Ni(Ⅱ)ions from aqueous media by the prepared hydrogels was investigated as a function of temperature,time,and concentration of adsorbate in a batch *** results demonstrated a remarkable enhancement in the adsorption process of Ni(Ⅱ)(Removal efficiency=98.82%).All isotherms were found to fit the Langmuir model *** adsorption properties of both magnetic GO and magnetic hydrogel showed promising properties as green and cheap adsorbents.
