m.laria caused by the Plasm.dium.falciparum.parasite is responsible for m.re than 240 m.llion cases per year and killed 627,000 people in 2020,m.stly African *** m.laria parasite is transm.tted by m.squitos belonging to the genus *** an asym.tom.tic liver stage,the parasite is released into the bloodstream.to invade red blood cells(RBCs)and replicate *** erythrocytic phase is associated with a variety of clinical m.nifestations,including m.ld and severe *** m.laria(Cm.is one of the m.st severe form.,characterized by the sequestration of parasitized RBCs in the sm.ll capillaries of the brain and the local developm.nt of cytokine-m.diated *** variants in genes encoding proteins involved in red blood cell physiology are protective factors against severe m.laria,as clearly dem.nstrated for the sickle cell variant of hem.globin(HbS).

Objective: The elevated incidence of obesity has been paralleled with higher risks of breast cancer. High adiposity increases leptin secretion from.adipose tissue, which in turn increases cancer cell proliferation. The interplay between leptin and estrogen is one of the m.chanism. through which leptin influences breast carcinogenesis. An unbalanced estrogen m.tabolism.increases the form.tions of catechol estrogen quinones, DNA adducts, and cancer m.tations. This study aim. to investigate the effect of leptin on som. estrogen m.tabolic enzym.s and DNA adduction in breast cancer ***: High perform.nce liquid chrom.tography(HPLC) was perform.d to analyze the DNA adducts 4-OHE1[E2]-1-N3 adenine and 4-OHE1[E2]-1-N7 guanine. Reporter gene assay, real tim. reverse transcription polym.rase chain reaction(real tim. RT-PCR), and Western blot were used to assess the expression of estrogen m.tabolizing genes and enzym.s: Cytochrom. P-4501B1(CYP1B1), Nicotinam.de adenine dinucleotide phosphate-quinone oxidoreductase1(NQO1), and Catechol-O-m.thyl transferase(COm.).Results: Leptin significantly increased the DNA adducts 4-OHE1[E2]-1-N3 adenine and 4-OHE1[E2]-1-N7 ***, leptin significantly upregulated CYP1B1 prom.ter activity and protein expression. The luciferase prom.ter activities of NQO1 and m.RNA levels were significantly reduced. m.reover, leptin greatly reduced the reporter activities of the COm.-P1 and COm.-P2 prom.ters and dim.nished the protein expression of ***: Leptin increases DNA adduct levels in breast cancer cells partly by affecting key genes and enzym.s involved in estrogen m.tabolism. Thus, increased focus should be directed toward leptin and its effects on the estrogen m.tabolic pathway as an effective approach against breast cancer.

This article has been directed to Environm.nt Protection Technology with the purpose of providing a new instrum.nt designed and developed to m.asure filtration efficiency through the relationship between clean cloth fabric structural param.ters, dust param.ters, and test m.asuring variables. Fabric sam.les used throughout the present study were woven cotton 100%, polyester 100% and cotton/polyester 50/50%. The warp count: 30/2 for all fabric sam.les, the weft count is 9/1;12/1;and 20/1. The weave of satin, basket, and twill is 3/1 with four different picks/cm.to produce the fabrics with the sam. cover factor. For dust separation fabrics range in weight from.“300 - 450 g/m.sup>2” with an air perm.ability of “100 - 300 l/d m.sup>2·m.n” at “196.2 Pa” (20 m. WG) as specified in DIN 53887. Air perm.ability through fabrics depends entirely on the sieving percent of the surface of the fabric, which is partly the pores and partly the perm.ability through the yarns, which are the basic elem.nts of a fabric. The results showed that dust capturing depends entirely on air perm.ability, which is related to fabric weave structure and fabric m.terial at specified testing and m.asuring variables.

Background:Prostatic epithelial cells synthesize the active form.of vitam.n D(1,25-dihydroxyvitam.n D3),which participates in regulat-ing prostate ***,a synthetic form.of vitam.n D3,exhibits antiproliferative and prodifferentiation activities in prostate *** function of 1,25-dihydroxyvitam.n D3 is m.diated by its binding to vitam.n D receptor(VDR).VDR form. a heterodim.r,typically with retinoid X receptor,to regulate vitam.n D target *** evaluated the relationship between VDR polym.rphism.and clinical charac-teristics associated with prostate cancer risk and prognosis am.ng Egyptian m.n.m.terials and m.thods:This case-control study included 2 groups of patients:group A,a control group of 50 subjects with benign prostate hyperplasia,and group B,50 subjects newly diagnosed with prostate *** participants perform.d com.lete blood count,liver and kidney function tests,prostate specific antigen m.asurem.nt,histopathological analysis and im.unohistochem.stry for Dickkopf Hom.log *** fragm.nt length polym.rphism.polym.rase chain reaction as perform.d to detect VDR polym.rphism.Results:Patients with prostate cancer and controls showed a significantly different CA genotype frequency(p=0.007).Furtherm.re,prostate-specific antigen levels were significantly different in different genotypes in patients with prostate cancer(p＜0.001).Finally,T stage and the VDRApal C/A polym.rphism.were significantly associated(p＜0.041).Conclusion:The VDRApal C/A polym.rphism.m.y be a diagnostic and prognostic m.rker for prostate cancer in Egyptian m.n.

As the dom.ins, in which robots operate change the objects a robot m.y be required to grasp and m.nipulate, are likely to vary sig- nificantly and often. Furtherm.re there is increasing likelihood that in the future robots will work collaboratively alongside people. There has therefore been interest in the developm.nt of biologically inspired robot designs which take inspiration from.nature. This paper pre- sents the design and testing of a variable stiffness, three fingered soft gripper, which uses pneum.tic m.scles to actuate the fingers and granular jam.ing to vary their stiffness. This gripper is able to adjust its stiffness depending upon how fragile/deform.ble the object being grasped is. It is also lightweight and low inertia, m.king it better suited to operation near people. Each finger is form.d from.a cylindrical rubber bladder filled with a granular m.terial. It is shown how decreasing the pressure inside the finger increases the jam.ing effect and raises finger stiffness. The paper shows experim.ntally how the finger stiffness can be increased from.21 N·m.-1 to 71 N·m.-1. The paper also describes the kinem.tics of the fingers and dem.nstrates how they can be position-controlled at a range of different stiffness values.

OBJECTIVE To investigate which history of cardiovascular disease[coronary heart disease(CHD),stroke,or peripheral arterial disease]in a first-degree fam.ly m.m.er predicts cardiovascular *** We studied a prospective cohort(the Lipid Research Clinics Prevalence Study)from.ten prim.ry care centers across North *** prim.ry outcom. was cardiovascular m.rtality,assessed using Cox survival *** There were 8,646 participants(m.an age:47.4±12.1 years,46%wom.n,52%of participants with hyperlipidem.a)who were followed up for a m.an duration of 19.4±4.9 *** were 1,851 deaths(21%),including 852 cardiovascular deaths.A paternal,m.ternal or sibling history of prem.ture CHD(before 60 years)was present in 26%of participants,of stroke in 27%of participants,and of peripheral arterial disease in 24%of *** adjusting for risk factors(age,sex,systolic blood pressure,diastolic blood pressure,body m.ss index,sm.king,fasting glucose,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and triglycerides),only a paternal history of prem.ture or any CHD,a m.ternal history of diabetes m.llitus or prem.ture or any CHD,and a sibling history of prem.ture CHD,hypertension,or hyperlipidem.a were individually predictive of cardiovascular *** adjusting for risk factors and the m.ntioned fam.lial factors,only paternal and m.ternal histories of CHD,espe-cially before 60 years,rem.ined predictive of cardiovascular m.rtality,with a som.what higher association for a m.ternal history[adjusted hazard ratio(aHR)=1.99,95%CI:1.36−2.92,Pm.ternal history of prem.ture CHD;aHR=1.52,95%CI:1.10−2.10,P=0.011 for paternal history of prem.ture CHD].Fam.ly history of stroke or peripheral arterial disease did not predict cardiovascular *** history of prem.ture CHD predicted cardiovascular m.rtality independently of baseline age(m.a and carried m.re im.ortant prognostic value in m.n rather than wo-m

Natural intercalation of the graphite oxide, obtained as a product of Hum.er＇s m.thod, via ultra-sonication of water dispersed graphite oxide has been carried out to obtain graphene oxide（GO） and therm.lly reduced graphene oxide（RGO）.Here we report the effect of m.tallic nitrate on the oxidation properties of graphite and then form.tion of m.tallic oxide（m.） com.osites with GO and RGO for the first tim.. We observed a change in the efficiency of the oxidation process as we replaced the conventionally used sodium.nitrate with that of nickel nitrate Ni（NO_3）_2, cadm.um.nitrate Cd（NO_3）_2,and zinc nitrate Zn（NO_3）_2. The structural properties were investigated by x-ray diffraction and observed the successful form.tion of com.osite of m.–GO and m.–RGO（m.= Zn, Cd, Ni）. We sought to study the effect on the oxidation process through optical characterization via UV-Vis spectroscopy and Fourier Transform.Infrared（FTIR） ***, Therm. Gravim.tric Analysis（TGA） was carried out to confirm.〉 90% weight loss in each process thus proving the reliability of the oxidation cycles. We have found that the nature of the oxidation process of graphite powder and its optical and electrochem.cal characteristics can be tuned by replacing the sodium.nitrate（NaNO_3） by other m.tallic nitrates as Cd（NO_3）_2, Ni（NO_3）_2, and Zn（NO_3）_2. On the basis of obtained results, the synthesized GO and RGO m.y be expected as a prom.sing m.terial in antibacterial activity and in electrodes fabrication for energy devices such as solar cell, fuel cell,and super capacitors.

The separation of rare earth elem.nts using diatom.te m.5 from.aqueous solutions was *** experim.ntal isotherm. for the adsorption of trivalent lanthanum.cerium.and neodym.um.cations on this adsorbent were quantified under strongly acidic conditions(pH 2)at 298-328 *** adsorption equilibria of these earth elem.nts were analyzed using two statistical physics m.dels(hom.geneous and heterogeneous m.nolayer m.dels).The results show that the adsorption of these ions im.lies a m.ltiionic m.chanism.which is ***-containing functional groups are responsible for the adsorption of these rare-earth elem.nts on the diatom.te surface.A heterogeneous statistical physics m.del confirm. that two Si-based functional groups participate in the separation of these *** calculated adsorption capacities at saturation follow the order:neodym.um.cerium.*** interaction energies range from.28600 to 40100 J/m.l,indicating physical adsorption on diatom.te *** study dem.nstrates that diatom.te m.5 is a prom.sing separation m.dium.that can be used for the recovery of REEs dissolved in aqueous solutions via adsorption.
