Laparoscopic resection of primary retroperitoneal schwannoma:A case report

BACKGROUND schwannomas are rare,often benign,tumors deriving from schwann cells that have low incidence in the retroperitoneal region(0.5%to 5%).Their diagnosis is hardly confirmed at early stage due to lack of specific features in signs,symptoms and imaging ***,it is necessary performing guided punch biopsy in order to identify *** removal is the treatment of choice due to its low sensitivity to radiation and *** sUMMARY Forty-seven years old female patient who was hospitalized for elective orthopedic procedure,without complications,evolved with severe pain in the lower limbs,thigh and gluteal region associated with neurogenic *** pain required magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)of the lumbar spine,which showed epidural collection with dural compression and massive heterogeneous perihepatic nodular *** surgical team opted for draining the collection,as well as requested an MRI of the abdomen and pelvis,whose analysis showed expansive lesion in the retroperitoneum,in close contact with the inferior vena cava and with the right renal vein.A guided puncture was performed for diagnostic clarification,which showed immunohistochemical profile compatible with *** selected treatment comprised retroperitoneum tumor resection in association with laparoscopic *** patient was discharged and remained stable after 4-mo follow-up;she remains under followup to check the need of cancer *** schwannoma features requires surgical treatment based on laparoscopic resection,which often presents low relapse rates and optimistic prognosis.

New particle formation(NPF) in the tropical free troposphere(FT) is a globally important source of cloud condensation nuclei, affecting cloud properties and climate. Oxidized organic molecules(OOMs)produced from biogenic volatile organic compounds are believed to contribute to aerosol formation in the tropical FT, but without direct chemical observations. We performed in situ molecular-level OOMs measurements at the Bolivian station Chacaltaya at 5240 m above sea level, on the western edge of Amazonia. For the first time, we demonstrate the presence of OOMs, mainly with 4–5 carbon atoms, in both gas-phase and particle-phase(in terms of mass contribution) measurements in tropical FT air from Amazonia. These observations, combined with air mass history analyses, indicate that the observed OOMs are linked to isoprene emitted from the rainforests hundreds of kilometers away. Based on particle-phase measurements, we find that these compounds can contribute to NPF, at least the growth of newly formed nanoparticles, in the tropical FT on a continental scale. Thus, our study is a fundamental and significant step in understanding the aerosol formation process in the tropical FT.

Grain-size end-members and environmentally sensitive grain-size components: A comparative study in the mud shelf depocenters off southern Brazil

The current study aims to do a comparative analysis of the results obtained with two End-Member(EM)grain-size modeling techniques(Analy size and Bas EMMA) and the Environmental sensitive Grain-size(EsGs) modeling for sediment samples collected in the mudbelts of the southern Brazilian shelf. The methods were compared using grain-size data from the south Brazilian shelf, and the results are discussed here. It is the first time that the concept of EsGs, in its present form, is utilized outside China. The results show that despite its relative ease of use, the EsGs is not fully comparable to the EM analyses, and only two grain-size EsGs classes were recognized as analogous to EMs. The comparison of the Analy size and Bas EMMA procedures also revealed significant differences between the techniques. A comparative analysis between the two EM techniques revealed advantages in the Bas EMMA, especially in the better correlation of the end-members with the original grain size distribution. The analysis of the geographical distribution of the EM abundances allowed point sources of sandy populations to be recognized as well as the contribution of the Rio de la Plata as a source of silty sediments to be inferred.

A theoretical study of the structural, elastic, electronic, mechanical, and thermal properties of the perovskite-type hydride CaNiH3 is presented. This study is carded out via first-principles full potential （FP） linearized augmented plane wave plus local orbital （LAPW＋lo） method designed within the density functional theory （DFT）. To treat the exchange-correlation energy/potential for the total energy calculations, the local density approximation （LDA） of Perdew-Wang （PW） and the generalized gradient approximation （GGA） of Perdew-Burke-Ernzerhof （PBE） are used. The three independent elastic constants （C11, C12, and C44） are calculated from the direct computation of the stresses generated by small strains. Besides, we report the variation of the elastic constants as a function of pressure as well. From the calculated elastic constants, the mechanical character of CaNiH3 is predicted. Pertaining to the thermal properties, the debye temperature is estimated from the average sound velocity. To further comprehend this compound, the quasi-harmonic debye model is used to analyze the thermal properties. From the calculations, we find that the obtained results of the lattice constant （ao）, bulk modulus （Bo）, and its pressure derivative （B0′） are in good agreement with the available theoretical as well as experimental results. similarly, the obtained electronic band structure demonstrates the metallic character of this perovskite-type hydride.

Countering DNs Amplification Attacks Based on Analysis of Outgoing Traffic

Domain name system(DNs)amplification distributed denial of service(DDos)attacks are one of the popular types of intrusions that involve accessing DNs servers on behalf of the *** this case,the size of the response is many times greater than the size of the request,in which the source of the request is substituted for the address of the *** paper presents an original method for countering DNs amplification DDos *** novelty of our approach lies in the analysis of outgoing traffic from the victim’s *** servers used for amplification attacks are easily detected in Internet control message protocol(ICMP)packet headers(type 3,code 3)in outgoing *** packets of this type are generated when accessing closed user datagram protocol(UDP)ports of the victim,which are randomly assigned by the saddam attack *** prevent such attacks,we used a Linux utility and a software-defined network(sDN)module that we previously developed to protect against port *** Linux utility showed the highest efficiency of 99.8%,i.e.,only two attack packets out of a thousand reached the victim server.

Thermo' computer program is described. It is intended for computation of thermal cycle parameters during surface pulse heating. For example, during laser processing, surface heating owing to grinding, etc. It gives rates of heating, cooling, as well as temperature gradients and cumulative exposure time as function of the CURRENT TEMPERATURE, with the peak temperature at the surface as variable parameter. Forest fire risk estimation constitutes an essential process to prevent high-intensity fires which are associated with severe implications to the natural and cultural environment. The primary aim of this research was to determine fire risk levels based on the local features of an island,namely, the impact of fuel structures, slope, aspects, as well as the impact of the road network and inhabited regions. The contribution of all the involved factors to forest fires ignition and behavior highlight certain regions which are highly vulnerable. In addition, the influence of both natural and anthropogenic factors to forest fire phenomena is explored. In this study, natural factors play a dominant role compared to anthropogenic factors. Hence essential preventative measures must focus on specific areas and established immediately. Indicative measures may include: the optimal allocation of watchtowers as well as the spatial optimization of mobile firefighting vehicles;and, forest fuel treatments in areas characterized by extremely high fire risk. The added value of this fire prediction tool is that it is highly flexible and could be adopted elsewhere with the necessary adjustments to local characteristics.
