Emerging global interest:Unraveling the link between diabetes mellitus and depression

BACKGROUND Studies have shown a strong bidirectional association between diabetes and depression,with diabetes increasing the risk of developing depression and vice *** among patients with diabetes is associated with poor glycemic control,complications,and poor *** To explore the present state of research globally concerning diabetes and depression,to aid understanding the current research landscape and identify potential future areas of *** A bibliometric approach was used,utilizing the Scopus database to gather pertinent research articles released from 2004 to *** encompassed publication patterns,significant contributors,research focal points,prevalent themes,and the most influential articles,aimed at discerning emerging research *** A total of 3229 publications that met the search criteria were identified.A significant increase in the number of publications related to diabetes and depression has been observed in the past two *** most productive nation was the USA(n=1015;31.43%),followed by China(n=325;10.07%),the UK(n=236;7.31%),and Germany(n=218;6.75%).Three principal themes in research on depression and diabetes were delineated by the ***,the exploration of the elevated prevalence and etiology of this comorbidity;second,the focus on interventions,particularly randomized controlled trials,aimed at enhancing diabetes management among individuals with depression;and finally,the investigation of the involved risk factors and biological mechanisms under-lying this bidirectional *** There has been a recent surge of interest in the relationship between diabetes and *** could aid researchers to identify areas lacking in the literature and shape future research.

Thyroid hormones play essential roles in spermatogenesis,but their effects on infertile males remain poorly *** study aimed to evaluate the impact of combining carbimazole(CBZ)with vitamin E(VE)on testicular injury induced by experimental hyperthyroidism in adult albino rats,focusing on oxidative,inflammatory,and apoptotic *** this experimental study,64 adult male albino Wistar rats were divided into eight groups:Group I(control-untreated),Group II(CBZ-control),Group III(VE-control),Group IV(CBZ+VE-control),Group V(levothyroxine-induced testicular injury),Group VI(levothyroxine+CBZ-treated),Group VII(levothyroxine+VE-treated),and Group VIII(levothyroxine+CBZ+VE-treated).The study was conducted in the Faculty of Medicine,Suez Canal University(Ismailia,Egypt).After cervical decapitation,both testes and epididymis were examined histopathologically and *** differences were observed among groups concerning malondialdehyde(MDA),glutathione(GSH),superoxide dismutase(SOD),and catalase(CAT;all P<0.001).Polymerase chain reaction analysis showed significant differences in tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),interleukin-10(IL-10),Bcl-2-associated X protein(BAX),B-cell lymphoma 2 protein(Bcl2),p53,Caspase-3,Caspase-8,Caspase-9,and nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-κB)mRNA levels(all P<0.001).Hyperthyroid group treated with CBZ alone(Group VI)exhibited testicular side effects,affecting seminiferous tubules and ***,the Group VIII showed improved spermatogenesis and a decrease in testicular side *** addition of VE to the treatment of hyperthyroid rats with CBZ reduced testicular side effects and seminiferous tubular affection when potentially improving *** research is needed to elucidate the underlying mechanisms fully.

Growth Rate and Chemical Muscle Composition of Oreochromis niloticus Fish Cultured in Drainage Water and Fed Antioxidant Supplemented Diet

Irrigation of fish farms with agricultural drainage water may affect cultured fish species. So, the present study utilizes antioxidants supplemented diet to overcome deterioration of drainage water and its negative effect on fish. The studied groups are fish cultured in dechlorinated tap water as control group or drainage water and fed commercial basal diet. While, the other studied groups represented by Oreochromis niloticus fish cultured in drainage water and fed either commercial diet supplemented with vitamin C (5 g/kg diet) or fennel (5 g/kg diet) for 12 weeks. Results of the water physico-chemical parameters of all studied treatments revealed deterioration of the drainage water with a decrease in dissolved oxygen and an increase in pH, total hardness, total alkalinity, salinity, ammonia, nitrite and heavy metals (Cu, Pb and Cd) with significant differences (P ≤ 0.01) in comparison to that of the control dechlorinated tap water group. Data clarified also that Oreochromis niloticus cultured in drainage water showed a decrease in growth rate accompanied by deterioration of fish meat quality. However, fish reared in the same drainage water for the same exposure period and fed vitamin C or fennel supplemented basal diet (5 g/kg diet) recorded values of the studied parameters more or less similar to that of control group fish. Data of the present study, empowered aquaculturist to supplement fish rations with fennel or vitamin C as antioxidants to improve fish growth rate, meat quality as well as protect fish against heavy metals toxicity that could threat Human Being.

Edge Computing is a new technology in Internet of Things(IoT)paradigm that allows sensitive data to be sent to disperse devices quickly and without *** is identical to Fog,except its positioning in the end devices is much nearer to end-users,making it process and respond to clients in less ***,it aids sensor networks,real-time streaming apps,and the IoT,all of which require high-speed and dependable internet *** such an IoT system,Resource Scheduling Process(RSP)seems to be one of the most important *** paper presents a RSP for Edge Computing(EC).The resource characteristics are first standardized and ***,for task scheduling,a Fuzzy Control based Edge Resource Scheduling(FCERS)is *** results demonstrate that this technique enhances resource scheduling efficiency in EC and Quality of Service(QoS).The experimental study revealed that the suggested FCERS method in this work converges quicker than the other *** method reduces the total computing cost,execution time,and energy consumption on average compared to the *** ES allocates higher processing resources to each user in case of limited availability of MDs;this results in improved task execution time and a reduced total task computation ***,the proposed FCERS m 1m may more efficiently fetch user requests to suitable resource categories,increasing user requirements.

Global research trends and mapping knowledge structure of depression in dialysis patients

BACKGROUND Depression is one of the most common and important psychological issues faced by dialysis *** can make it more difficult for them to adhere to their treatment regimen,which,in turn,can worsen their physical symptoms and lead to poorer health *** To examine the evolution and growth of publications related to dialysis and *** objectives were to identify the number of publications,the top active countries,the contributed institutions,funding agencies and journals,as well as to perform citation and research theme *** The search was conducted using the Scopus database for publications related to dialysis and depression between 1970 and ***,bibliometric analysis was carried out on the data obtained using VOSviewer software,version *** analysis included visualization analysis,co-occurrence analysis and examination of publication trends in dialysis and *** We identified 800 publications that met the search *** number of publications related to dialysis and depression has increased significantly in the past two *** USA led the way with 144 publications,which is 18%of all publications on this *** came second with 88 publications(11%),followed by China with 55 publications(6.88%)and Iran with 52 publications(6.5%).Analysis of the research theme identified three main clusters related to gender differences in prevalence,identification of depression as a risk factor,and effective interventions to relieve *** research direction analysis shows a shift toward effective interventions to relieve depression in dialysis *** This study provides a comprehensive overview of growth,trends and research themes related to dialysis and depression that could help researchers identify gaps in the literature and develop future research.
