Controlling Congestion in Al-Seeb highway Using Ramp Metering (Case Study)

This paper represents a case study of traffic congestion within a section on Al Seeb Street highway due to the on-ramp merging of vehicles that causes a bottleneck in the mainline road. It studies the efficiency of installing ramp metering within a ramp within the selected study zone. This is done by simulating the collected data using Vissim software by drawing three one-hour-long scenarios;the first scenario reflects the data collected for 30 minutes duration and is used as a base scenario to draw the other two scenarios, which are reflected as factored-up scenarios to create a situation observed in the early morning in the study zone at 6:00-7:00 in which slowing down of speeds exist, and breakdown is raised in working days. The two factoring-up scenarios were as follows: one without ramp metering and the other without ramp metering. Each scenario was calibrated and run five times with random seeds, and then the average was considered. The simulation examines the ability of RM to smooth traffic in mainline and reduce queuing on on-ramp roads within the selected study zone by comparing the performance of the network for the scenarios and comparing them in terms of the overall delays, number of stops and the average speeds for the vehicles within the mainline. The results showed a good performance reflected by the scenario with ramp metering with a reduction of the overall delay, a decrease in stops number and an increase of the average speed were achieved. For the base scenario, a visualization (video extracted from Vissim software) was extracted, showing no need to install RM with an associated table showing a number of stops equal to zero with an average speed of 102.74 km/h and a total delay of 6045 seconds. Objective: To investigate molecular and serological prevalence of Toxoplasma gondii(***) in pregnant women and sheep in ***: Blood samples collected from healthy 364 pregnant women and 170 sheep were investigated for *** antibodies and parasitemia using highly specific and sensitive surface antigen(TgSAG2) based enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)and real time-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR).Results: Overall prevalence of *** was 51.76%, 17.65% in sheep, 33.79%, 11.81%in pregnant women, using ELISA and RT-PCR *** differences in *** prevalence were observed on the basis of contact with cats or soil in pregnant women using either RT-PCR or *** pregnant women, a significant increase was detected in aged and those eating under-cooked mutton using simultaneous ELISA/***: Consumption of under-cooked infected mutton is an important source of human infection and the combination of the two assays provide accurate and precise data during infection.

Acral melanoma(AM)is the most common histologic subtype of melanoma in dark-skinned patients and is associated with a worse prognosis and a high mortality rate,largely due to the inconspicuous nature of early-stage lesions,which can lead to late *** of the overlapping clinical and histopathological features of AM with other forms of cutaneous melanomas,early detection of AM requires a multidisciplinary approach that integrates various diagnostic modalities,including clinical examination,dermoscopy,histopathology,molecular testing,radiological imaging,and blood *** surgery is the preferred method of treatment for AM,other therapeutic options may be employed based on the stage and underlying etiology of the *** checkpoint inhibitors,molecular targeted therapy,radiotherapy,chemotherapy,and oncolytic virotherapy represent promising advanced treatment options for *** this review,we provide an overview of the latest advancements in diagnostic and therapeutic methods for AM,highlighting the importance of early detection and the prompt,individualized management of this challenging disease.

In continuation of our chemical investigation on some medicinal plants of the genus Tephrosia, re-investigation of the methylenechloride/methanol （1：1） extract of the air-dried aerial part of Tephrosia apollinea afforded a new prenylated flavonoid 1, in addition to an aromatic ester, a sesquiterpene, a lignan and several known prenylated flavonoids. The structures were established by （^1h NMR, ^13C NMR, DEPT, ^1h-^1h COSY, hMQC, hMBC, NOESY and hRMS）. Relative configurations of 9 and 10 were confirmed by X-ray analysis.

Sulphonated nano-structured micro-porous ion exchange polymers, known as sulphonated PolyhIPE Polymers （s-PhPs） were used in syngas cleaning to investigate their impact on tar composition, concentration and dew point depression during the gasification of fuel cane bagasse as a model biomass. The results showed that the s-PhPs used as a secondary syngas treatment system, was highly effective at adsorbing and reducing the concentration of all class of tars in syngas by 95%-80% which resulted in tar dew point depression from 90 ~C to 73 ~C. It was shown that tars underwent chemical reactions within s-PhPs, indicating that tar diffusion from syngas was driven by chemical potential. It was also observed that s-PhPs also captured ash forming elements from syngas. The use of s-PhPs in gasification as well as in an integrated thermochemical biorefinery technology is discussed since the tar loaded s-PhPs can be used as natural herbicides in the form of soil additives to enhance the biomass growth and crop yield.

Identification of natural substances with antioxidant properties is ongoing research for addressing issues related to oxidative stress especially attributed to environmental effects. Our previous study demonstrated that Lateolabrax japonicus peptides （LPh）， rich in Glu， Gly， and hydrophobic amino acids， exhibited remarkable antioxidant activity in vitro， with though its action mechanism yet to be revealed. Therefore， to assess the in vivo antioxidative properties of LPh， we employed h2O2to generate oxidative stress in Drosophila melanogaster model. Results indicated that LPh significantly prolonged the lifespan of Drosophila subjected to oxidative stress mostly mediated via LPh's enhancement of the antioxidant defense system and intestinal functions. Antioxidant effects were manifested by a decrease in malondialdehyde （MDA） levels， elevated superoxide dismutase （SOD）， catalase （CAT）， and glutathione peroxidase （GSh-Px） activities， decreased levels of reactive oxygen species （ROS） in intestinal epithelial cells， and the preservation of intestinal length. LPh effectively controlled the excessive proliferation and differentiation of oxidative stress-induced Drosophila intestinal stem cells. At the gene level， LPh upregulated the expression of antioxidant-related Nrf2 genes while concurrently downregulated mTOR expression level. Furthermore， high-throughput 16S rDNA sequencing revealed that the addition of LPh significantly influenced the diversity and abundance of the intestinal microbiota in h2O2-induced Drosophila. These findings provide a deeper understanding of the antioxidative mechanism of LPh， suggesting its potential applications in food industry and to be assessed using other in vivo oxidative stress models.

Synthesis of carbon nanotubes （CNTs） below 600℃ using supporting catalyst chemical vapor deposition method was reported by many research groups. however, the floating catalyst chemical vapor deposition received less attention due to imperfect nanotubes produced. In this work, the effects of varying the preheating temperature on the synthesis of CNT were investigated. The reaction temperature was set at 570℃. The preheating set temperature was varied from 150 to 400℃ at 50℃ interval. Three O-ring shape heating mantels were used as heating source for the preheater. In situ monitoring device was used to observe the temperature profile in the reactor. Benzene and ferrocene were used as the carbon source and catalyst precursor, respectively. Vertically aligned CNTs were synthesized when the preheating temperature was set at 400℃. When the preheating temperature was increased up to 400℃, both the length and the alignment of CNTs produced were improved.
