Cisplatin-Induced Posterior Reversible Encephalopathy Syndrom.—Brief Report and Review of the Literature

Cisplatin is one of the m.st broadly used chem.therapeutic agents. Several central nervous system.toxicities have been attributed to this agent, am.ng which is a rare clinicoradiological condition referred to as posterior reversible leukoen-cephalopathy syndrom. (PRES) or reversible posterior leukoencephalopathy syndrom. (RPLS). PRES is characterized by subacute onset of headache, visual disturbances, confusion, seizures and rarely, com.. This usually reversible syn-drom. was associated in the past m.inly with hypertension. Several reports have associated the syndrom. with several im.unosuppressive and chem.therapeutic agents suggesting a disruption of the blood brain barrier due to direct dam.ge to the endothelium.and vasogenic edem.. This syndrom. is readily diagnosed with Com.uted Tom.graphy (CT) or m.gnetic resonance im.ging (m.I) studies and quick withdrawal of the causative agent in conjunction with supportive care including rapid hypertension control and reduction of elevated intracranial pressure when needed, usually reverse the neurological sym.tom. with m.nim.l or even no sequela within several days. In this brief report and review of the literature we describe two cases of PRES in two fem.le patients that occurred a few days after receiving Cisplatin-based chem.therapy. We discuss the clinical presentation, diagnosis and treatm.nt of this syndrom. by reviewing the literature. The escalating num.er of clinical reports of PRES m.rit further studies of the m.chanism.of toxicity, appropriate treatm.nt and awareness of physicians to this life threatening

By chrom.tographic m.thods (HPLC, TLC) coupled with spectral m.thods (LC-m., TLC-m.) and chem.cal revelation tests, anthocyanins from.four Vigna subterranea varieties (m., D3, KVS350, KVS97) were isolated and identified as m.lvidin 3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside, paeonidin-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside, petunidin-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside, cyanidin 3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside, del- pinidin-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside.

m.lecular architecture of m.use and hum.n pancreatic zym.gen granules: protein com.onents and their copy num.ers

A m.lecular m.del of pancreatic zym.gen granule(ZG) is critical for understanding its functions. We have extensively characterized the com.osition and m.m.rane topology of rat ZG proteins. In this study, we report the developm.nt of targeted proteom.cs approaches to quantify representative m.use and hum.n ZG proteins using LC-SRm.and heavy isotope-labeled synthetic peptides. The absolute quantities of m.use Rab3D and VAm.8 were determ.ned as 1242 ± 218 and 2039 ± 151(m.an ± SEm. copies per ZG. The size distribution and the averaged diam.ter of ZGs 750 ± 23 nm.m.an ± SEm. were determ.ned by atom.c force m.croscopy. The absolute quantification of Rab3D was then validated using sem.-quantitative Western blotting with purified GST-Rab3D proteins as an internal standard. To extend our proteom.cs analysis to hum.n pancreas, ZGs were purified using hum.n acini obtained from.pancreatic islet transplantation center. One hundred and eighty hum.n ZG proteins were identified for the first tim. including both the m.m.rane and the content proteins. Furtherm.re, the copy num.er per ZG of hum.n Rab3D and VAm.8 were determ.ned to be 1182 ± 45 and 485 ± 15(m.an ± SEm.. The com.rehensive proteom.c analyses of m.use and hum.n pancreatic ZGs have the potential to identify species-specific ZG *** determ.nation of protein copy num.ers on pancreatic ZGs represents a significant advance towards building a quantitative m.lecular m.del of a prototypical secretory vesicle using targeted proteom.cs approaches. The identification of hum.n ZG proteins lays a foundation for subsequent studies of altered ZG com.ositions and secretion in pancreatic diseases.

从营养角度看,菜籽油的营养组成很合理,所以最近几年,食用菜籽油变得非常流行。在食用油的销售上,必须不断地提供给消费者各种新产品,在沙拉和其他一些食物的调料市场上,出现了以食用油和各种香料组合的调料。像迷迭香一类的香料富含大量的抗氧化剂成分。从这点来看,这些抗氧化剂成分应该能够稳定油脂储存过程中的氧化状态。而另一方面食用油中添加这些香料也有可能降低油的品质。从迷迭香,罗勒和百里香中提取的干物质,分别加入到精炼的纯菜籽油中,并将油储存在室温下26周。实验开始每两周,后期每四周评定一次品质,包括感官评价和化学参数的评价,包括过氧化值,氧化稳定性,茴香胺值,自由脂肪酸的含量和VE的组成。进一步分析从油中提取的酚类化合物的含量和组成。结果表明,实验中使用的各种香料都可以改变油的口感和香味。因为油是一种很好的香味携带剂。油中添加的香料类型会改变油的化学组分。罗勒对于提高油的氧化稳定性的作用很小,而迷迭香的效果却很显著。很显然,香料中的酚类物,只有很小的一部分进入了油中。如果升高储存温度,不同的香料的作用就会显得很明显。在50度,所有的香料都显著的能抑制过氧化物值的升高,然而迷迭香和百里香比罗勒更显著。随着储存时间增加,迷迭香和百里香对于氧化稳定性也有相似的结果。储存过程中添加香料对减少VE没有明显的影响。结果表明,高温储存能促进香料的酚类物进入油脂。总之,香料可以给食用油添加香味,但添加香料提高油的氧化稳定性不是很确定,不同的香料品种差别较大。

介绍一种用硫磺和纯氧为原料、以BAYQIK高浓度SO2转化技术为基础的硫酸生产新工艺——SULFO：BAY工艺，并从技术和经济两方面对SULFO2BAY@工艺与传统二转二吸工艺进行了比较。结果表明，SULFO2BAY工艺的主要技术优势在于SO2排放量可减少99％以上，能量利用率可提高到97％；该工艺的主要经济优势在于投资可减少约50％，因而相应的NPV比更高。从目前来看，高昂的氧气采购费用是一个不利的因素，将来如能通过利用高性能膜分离技术改变这种状况，SULFO：BAY工艺有望成为一种现代化的制酸工艺。

Background: Post-partum.haem.rrhage is the leading cause of m.ternal death throughout the world, and anaem.a is one of its indirect causes. Anaem.a during labour increases the risk of PPH and m.y lead to m.ternal m.rtality even after m.derate PPH. Undiagnosed PPH and post-partum.anaem.a increases the risk of late m.ternal death in the com.unity. The aim.of this study was to assess the prevalence of anaem.a on adm.ssion for labour, the occult early post-partum.haem.rrhage and the m.gnitude of post-partum.anaem.a in a low resource setting. m.thods: This was a longitudinal study. We included pregnant wom.n in labour. Haem.globin concentration was m.asured on adm.ssion (H0), then 24 hours (H24) and 48 (H48) hours later. The post-partum.blood loss was estim.ted by delta haem.globin, using the criteria of m. Driessen et al. Results: We recruited 245 pregnant wom.n. The m.an age was 27.0 ± 6.0 years. The m.an hem.globin concentration was 11.7 ± 1.9 g/dl, the frequency of anaem.a was 30.6% and was related to ethnicity (P = 0.042) gestational age (p m.rital status (p = 0.014) and the inter pregnancy tim. space (p = 0.001). Twenty-two-point two percent had post-partum.haem.rrhage am.ng which 40% were undiagnosed. The m.an blood loss was 375 m. and post-partum.anaem.a rate was 44.5%. Conclusion: Anaem.a on adm.ssion was related to socio-dem.graphic characteristics. The frequencies of anaem.a during labour, m.ssed PPH and undiagnosed post-partum.anaem.a were high. Haem.globin concentration on adm.ssion for labour and after delivery, reliable m.thod to assess PPH should be m.ndatory, to better identify per and post-partum.anem.a, and the m.nagem.nt of PPH, in low incom. environm.nts.
