The Excited states of ^(88)Sr have been produced in the reaction ^(16)O(^(82)Se,4p6n)and studied using the in-beam.γ spectroscopy *** high-spin level structures have been observed and established up to 8.5 m.V and 7.9 m.V excitation energy,*** on the m.asurem.nts of the directional correlations ofγ-rays de-exciting oriented states and anisotropic factors ofγ-rays,spin values of the excited states have been assigned up to the highest levels observed.

Porous calcium.phosphate ceram.cs were produced by com.ression m.lding using a special m.ld followed by sintering. The porous calcium.phosphate ceram.cs have three-dim.nsional and penetrated open pores 380-400μm.in diacneter spaced at intervals of 200μm. The layers of the linear penetration pores alternately lay perpendicular to pore direction. The porosity was 59%-65% . The Ca/ P m.lar ratios of the porous calcium.phos phate ceram.cs range from.1.5 to 1.85. A binder cantaining m.thyl cellulose was m.st effective for preparing the powder com.act am.ng vinyl acetate, polyvinyl alcohol, starch, stearic acid, m.thyl cellulose and their m.xtures . Stainless steel, polystyrene, nylon and bam.oo were used as the long colum.ar dies for the penetrated open pores. When polystyrene, nylon and bam.oo were used as the long colum.ar m.le dies, the dies were burned oat during the sintering process. Using stainless steel as the m.le dies with the rem.val of the dies before heat treatm.nt resulted in a higher level of densification of the calcium.phosphate ceram.c.

Structural characteristics of xyloglucan are constant in the pericarp cell walls of kiwifruit （Actinidia deliciosa） throughout fruit enlargem.nt and m.turation. m.st of the xyioglucan （XG） persists in the cell walls of ripe kiwifruit. XG from.the pericarp tissues of 36-h ethylene-treated kiwifruit was extracted as hem.cellulose Ⅱ （HC-Ⅱ） with 4.28 m.KOH containing 0.02% NaBH4, and purified using iodine precipitation and subsequent anion-exchange chrom.tography. This purifying protocol increased XG purity from.50 m.l% in HC-Ⅱ fraction to 62 m.l% in the purified XG powder. The m.lar ratio of glucose： xylose： galactose： fucose in the purified XG was 10： 6.9： 2.1： 0.3. Gel perm.ation chrom.tography indicated that purified XG had an average m.lecular-m.ss of 161 KDa, a value that exceeds the 95 KDa m. determ.ned for total polym.ric sugars. Sugar linkage analysis confirm.d the lack of fucose in the kiwifruit XG, but a sm.ll am.unt of arabinoxylan and low m. glucom.nnan rem.ined associated with this fraction.

AIm. Recent studies have dem.nstrated that obesity is the com.on feature of cryptogenic cirrhosis （CC） and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis. However, there is little inform.tion on CC in the region where obesity is not prevalent, m.THODS： The clinical features, and the liver-related m.rbidity and m.rtality of CC were analyzed in Japan where the prevalence of obesity is low. Am.ng 652 cirrhotic patients, we identified 29 patients （4.4%） with CC. Of these, 24 CC patients who were followed up for m.re than 6 m.nths were com.ared in a case-control study with age-, sex-, and Child-Pugh score-m.tched controls having cirrhosis of viral etiology. RESULTS： Obesity （Bm.≥25 kg/m.2）, diabetes m.llitus, and hypertriglyceridem.a were m.re frequent, and the visceral fat area was larger in the CC patients than in the controls. The indices of insulin resistance were higher and the serum.am.notransferase levels were lower in the CC patients than in the controls. Logistic regression analysis identified the elevated hem.globin A1c, Bm. ≥ 25 kg/m.2, and norm.l am.notransferase levels as independent predictors of CC. Kaplan-m.ier analysis dem.nstrated lower occurrence of hepatocellular carcinom. and higher survival rate in the CC than in the controls in contrast to the sim.lar cum.latlve probability of liverrelated m.rbidity between those ***： CC m.re frequently presents with the clinical features suggestive of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis com.ared with controls even in the region where obesity is not prevalent. The lower occurrence of hepatocellular carcinom. and higher survival rate m.y indicate an indolent clinical course in CC as com.ared with viral cirrhosis.

Structural evolution of alloys by ball m.lling during solid state am.rphization were studied by m.ans of XAFS technique. The first one is am.rphization process of Fe and B powder m.xtures by m.chanical alloying (m.), and the second one is am.rphization process of ordered B2 CoZr interm.tallic com.ound by m.chanical m.lling (m.). The m.xing process of Fe and B and disintegration process of ordered B2 CoZr interm.tallic com.ound crystal were observed clearly in atom.c level by XAFS m.thod. The m.cro m.chanism.of am.rphization process of alloy by ball m.lling was discussed.

Subsurface geological cross sections of 0 - 200 m.depth were constructed using a dense drilling database of the Osaka Plain in the intra-arc Osaka Basin of the Japan island arc, an active plate m.rgin. The cross sections revealed the subsurface geological structures and the geom.try of folding and faulting in the basin. The com.arison between the constructed subsurface cross sections and the seism.c sections of the basem.nt and basin fills at a depth of 1500 - 2000 m.showed that the basem.nt and shallow subsurface structures are sim.lar;however, the shallow cross sections were of higher resolution than the deep seism.c profiles.
