Aqueous extracts of microalgae exhibit antioxidant and anticancer activities

Objective:To investigate the antioxidant and anticancer activities of aqueous extracts of nine microalgal ***:Variable percentages of major secondary metabolites(total phenolic content,terpenoids and alkaloids) as well as phycobiliprotein pigments(phycocyanin, allophycocyanin and phycoerythrin) in the aqueous algal extracts were *** activity of the algal extracts was performed using 2,2 diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH) test and 2,2'azino-bis(ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulfonic acid(ABTS.) radical cation *** efficiency of the algal water extracts was investigated against Ehrlich Ascites Carcinoma cell(EACC) and Human hepatocellular cancer cell line(HepG2).Results:Antioxidant activity of the algal extracts was performed using DPPH test and ABTS.^+ radical cation assays which revealed 30.1-72.4%and 32.0-75.9%*** efficiency of the algal water extracts was investigated against Ehdich Ascites Carcinoma Cell(EACC) and Human Hepatocellular cancer cell line(HepG2) with an activity ranged 87.25%and 89.4%*** the promising cyanobacteria species;Nostoc muscorum and Oscillatoria *** nitrogen stress conditions(increasing and decreasing nitrate content of the normal BG11 medium,1.5 g/L),increased nitrate concentration(3,6 and 9 g/L) led to a remarkable increase in phycobilin pigments followed by an increase in both antioxidant and anticancer activities in both cyanobacterial *** the decreased nitrate concentration(0.75,0.37 and 0.0 g/L) induced an obvious decrease in phycobilin pigments with complete absence of allophycocyanin in case of Oscillatoria ***:Nitrogen starvation(0.00 g/L nitrate) induced an increase and comparable antioxidant and anticancer activities to those cultured in the highest nitrate content.

Role of multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging in the diagnosis and staging of urinary bladder cancer

Objectives:To assess the role of multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging(mp-mRI)in the diagnosis and staging of urinary bladder cancer(BC).materials and methods:Fifty patients diagnosed with bladder masses underwent mp-mRI *** results of 3 image sets were analyzed and compared with the histopathological results as a reference standard:T2-weighted image(T2WI)plus dynamic contrast-enhanced(DCE),T2WI plus diffusion-weighted images(DWI),and mp-mRI,including T2WI plus DWI and *** diagnostic accuracy of mp-mRI was evaluated using receiver operating characteristic curve ***:The accuracy of T2WI plus DCE for detecting muscle invasion of BC was 79.5%with a fair agreement with histopathological examination(κ=0.59);this percentage increased up to 88.6%using T2WI plus DWI,with good agreement with histopathological examination(κ=0.74),whereas mp-mRI had the highest overall accuracy(95.4%)and excellent agreement with histopathological data(κ=0.83).multiparametric mRI can differentiate between low-and high-grade bladder tumors with a high sensitivity and specificity of 93.3%and 98.3%,***:multiparametric mRI is an acceptable method for the preoperative detection and accurate staging of BC,with reasonable accuracy in differentiating between low-and high-grade BC.

利用三维地震和测井资料对maui气田晚白垩世—上新世的沉积层序建立构造模型，结合地质统计学方法预测Taranaki盆地的构造力学特征。通过构造模型识别出受断裂影响的3期构造运动：晚白垩世—古新世裂谷期、晚始新世—中新世挤压性断裂期、上新世一更新世构造分化期（maui气田南部挤压性断裂、maui气田北部正断层活动）。各期构造运动形成不同的构造样式，早渐新世以前具有轻微走滑特征的正断层较发育，断层倾角大（40°-70°），北部地层倾角（10°-15°）低于南部（15°-20°）；中渐新世一晚中新世发育低角度逆断层（20°-40°），表明这一时期构造整体受到挤压性应力作用；中渐新世—上新世地层出现构造反转，表明这一时期构造应力为先挤压后拉张。

In this work,the Nerium Oleander was dried at its prescribed drying temperature(50±2.5℃) in indirect solar dryer(ISD) using phase change material(PCm) as energy storage medium.12 kg of paraffin wax were used as a latent heat thermal *** the experimental obtained results it is found that the ISD implementing PCm as thermal storage medium successfully maintains the temperature of drying air around 50℃ for seven consecutive *** is also found that the temperature of drying air is higher than ambient temperature by 2.5-5℃ after sunset for 5 hrs at *** profile of the temperature of drying air helps reaching the final moisture content of Nerium Oleander after 14 *** thin layer drying mathematical models were tested to specify the suitable model for describing the drying behavior of the Nerium *** was found that midilli and Kucuk model is convenient to describe the thin layer solar drying of Nerium Oleander.

The mechanical behavior and indentation creep of Al-20 wt% Zn bearing alloy has been modified with adding 0.2 wt%, 0.5 wt%, 1 wt%, 1.5 wt% Sn. These bearing alloys were prepared by melt spinning technique. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to study the morphology of the melt spun alloys and x-ray diffractometer (XRD) for the identification of the phases pre- sent in these melt-spun bearing alloys. Acaricidal activity of different extracts from Syzygium cumini ***(Pomposia) against Tetranychus urticae Koch

Objective:To investigate the acaricidal activity of different extracts from Syzygium cumini(***)(Pomposia)againsst Tetranyckus urticae Koch(71 urticae)and the biochemical changes in antioxidants ***:Six extracts of ***(Pomposia)at concentrations of 75,150 and 300μg/mL were used to control ***(Koch).Results:The ethanol extract showed the most efficient acaricidal activity agent against ***(98.5%)followed by hexane extract(94.0%),ether and ethyl acetate extract(90.0%).The LC_(50)values of the promising extract-were 85.0,101.0,102.0 and 98.0μ/mL,*** activities of enzymes including ascorbate peroxidase(APX),peroxidase(POD),superoxide dismutase(SOD)and catalase(CAT)in susceptible mites were *** activities of all antioxidant enzymes reach the maximum value in mites at LC_(50)with ethanol and ethyl acetate extracts,***:The extract of *** has acaricidal acivity against ***,and the ethanol extract is the most efficient.

A Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm for a 2-D Irregular Strip Packing Problem

Two-Dimensional Irregular Strip Packing Problem is a classical cutting/packing problem. The problem is to assign, a set of 2-D irregular-shaped items to a rectangular sheet. The width of the sheet is fixed, while its length is extendable and has to be minimized. A sequence-based approach is developed and tested. The approach involves two phases;optimization phase and placement phase. The optimization phase searches for the packing sequence that would lead to an optimal (or best) solution when translated to an actual pattern through the placement phase. A Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm is applied in this optimization phase. Regarding the placement phase, a combined algorithm based on traditional placement methods is developed. Competitive results are obtained, where the best solutions are found to be better than, or at least equal to, the best known solutions for 10 out of 31 benchmark data sets. A Statistical Design of Experiments and a random generator of test problems are also used to characterize the performance of the entire algorithm.

Effect of Cellulose Enzymes on Some Properties of Fibre Clothes

This study examined the effects of the enzyme cellulose on a few single jersey and interlock 100% flax t-shirts, two different styles of knit children’s clothes that differ in both their chemical and mechanical characteristics. Clothing samples were dyed using reactive colours and then subjected to normal acid cellulose enzyme treatment procedures. We evaluated some physical and mechanical features before and after cellulose treatments, then compared these characteristics. Its cellulose enzymatic processing enhances some mechanical properties of fibre knitwear, such as pilling resistance and retention of water. Some characteristics of fibre-knitted clothing, such as fabric weight, fabric thickness, fabric burst resistance, and seam tensile strength of T-shirt side seams, are reduced by cellulose enzyme treatment at a manageable rate. Compared to single-jersey all-fiber children’s T-shirts, interlocking 100% flax children’s T-shirts have a better effect of the enzyme cellulose treatment on the majority of physical and mechanical attributes.

Functional evaluation of the filtering bleb by ultrasound biomicroscopy after trabeculectomy with mitomycin C

AIm： To study the role of ultrasound biomicroscopy（UBm） in the assessment of the bleb function after trabeculectomy with mitomycin C（mmC）. mETHODS： This was a cross-sectional study including all cases had undergone trabeculectomy with mmC 0.2 mg/mL for 3 min. Participants were recruited from the follow-up cases at Department of Ophthalmology, Tanta University in the period from August 2015 to August 2016. Full history taking and ophthalmological examination were performed. Intraocular pressure（IOP） was measured using Goldmann applanation tonometry and the history of prescribed postoperative antiglaucoma medications was recorded. Accordingly, the trabeculectomy blebs were divided clinically into successful blebs when the IOP post-operative was ≤18 mmHg without medications. Scanning examination of the filtering bleb using UBm examination was performed at the period from 2 to 36 mo after trabeculectomy（13.6±9.7 m o）. RESULTS： This study included 33 trabeculectomy filtering blebs of 25 patients（9 males and 16 females）. The mean age of patients was 53.2±14.2 y（range 25-71y）. We had 20 eyes with complete success, 9 eyes with qualified success, and 4 eyes with failure after trabeculectomy with mmC. The blebs were classified into successful blebs（IOP ≤18 mmHg without antiglaucoma medications）, others were classified into qualified successful and failed blebs. There was a significant correlation between certain UBm findings（intra-bleb reflectivity, draining sub-scleral tract, bleb height, and intrableb fluid cysts） and cases with different grades of clinical functional success（P〈0.01）.CONCLUSION： UBm is an objective tool in the functional assessment of the post-trabeculectomy filtering bleb through a significant correlation between certain UBm parameters and the different grades of clinical functional success.

＜正＞ Ploythionic acid, which can form during refinery unit shutdown due to the interaction of the sulfide scale with moisture and oxygen at ambient temperatures, is known to cause intergranular stress corrosion cracking （SCC） of sensitized unstabilized austenitic stainless steels （SSs） On the other hand, un-sensitized stabilized grades of austenitic SSs are essentially immune to this type of cracking. The effect of delta ferrites and their shapes on the polythionic acid SCC is not known. The present paper gives results that show that stringer-type delta ferrites present in a forged 321 SS flange induced polythionic acid SCC. The SCC occurred in a pipe to flange weld joint connected to a heat exchanger in a local refinery. The SCC occurred in the forged flange near the circumferential weld connecting the flange to a wrought seam welded pipe. The presence of a sulfide scale implicated ploythionic acid as the cause of cracking coupled with the weld joint stresses.
