The soil-freezing characteristic curve(SFCC),which represents the relationship between unfrozen water content and subfreezing temperature(or suction at ice-water interface)in a freezing soil,can be used for understanding the transportation of heat,water,and solute in frozen *** this paper,the soil freezing process and the similarity between the SFCC of saturated frozen soil and soil-water characteristic curve(SWCC)of unfrozen unsaturated soil are *** on similar characteristics between SWCC and SFCC,a conceptual SFCC is drawn for illustrating the main features of soil freezing and thawing *** SFCC expressions from the literature are *** widely used expressions(i.e.,power relationship,exponential relationship,van Genuchten 1980 equation and Fredlund and Xing 1994 equation)are evaluated using published experimental data on four different soils(i.e.,sandy loam,silt,clay,and saline silt).Results show that the exponential relationship and van Genuchten(1980)equation are more suitable for sandy *** simple power relationship can be used to reasonably best-fit the SFCC for soils with different particle sizes;however,it exhibits limitations when fitting the saline silt *** Fredlund and Xing(1994)equation is suitable for fitting the SFCCs for all soils studied in this paper.

A practical synthetic method for 4-thiocyanato-1H-pyrazoles through the electrochemical cascade reaction of hydrazines, 1,3-diones and NH4SCN under metal-, chemical oxidant-and external electrolyte-free conditions was established. Importantly, both a gram-scale synthesis of 4-thiocyanato-1H-pyrazoles and five one-pot sequential transformations starting from hydrazine were successfully accomplished.

A theoretical analysis is presented for a channel drop tunnelling structure composed of a horizontal input channel, a vertical output channel and a multi-mode cavity in a photonic crystal. Criteria for a complete transfer are derived for applications of wavelength division demultiplexing. The analytical results are verified with a numerical simulation using a finite difference time domain method. The vertical channel dropping tunnelling system makes the demultiplexing device much more compact, as compared to the conventional parallel channel dropping system.

Placental site trophoblastic tumor(PSTT),a rare gestational trophoblastic neoplasm(GTN),exhibits slow growth,late-onset metastasis,and chemotherapy insensitivity[1,2].The invasive capacity of trophoblasts induces angiogenesis in PSTT,yet the specific mechanism remains unclear[3].PSTT is typically resistant to chemotherapy and hysterectomy stands as the primary therapeutic choice for patients with an overall cure rate of approximately 75%-80%[4,5].Therefore,investigating the precise emergence and progression of PSTT is crucial,aiming to identify novel targets for diagnosis and therapy.

Knowledge about the effect of different prostate biopsy approaches on the prostate cancer detection rate(CDR)in patients with gray-zone prostate-specific antigen(PSA)is *** performed this study to compare the CDR among patients who underwent different biopsy approaches and had rising PSA levels in the gray *** hundred and twenty-two patients who underwent transrectal prostate biopsy(TRB)and 216 patients who underwent transperineal prostate biopsy(TPB)between june 2016 and September 2022 were reviewed in this *** addition,110 patients who received additional targeted biopsies following the systematic TPB were *** parameters,including age,PSA derivative,prostate volume(PV),and needle core count,were *** data were fitted via propensity score matching(PSM),adjusting for potential *** outperformed TRB in terms of the CDR(49.6%vs 28.3%,P=0.001).The clinically significant prostate cancer(csPCa)detection rate was not significantly different between TPB and TRB(78.6%vs 68.8%,P=0.306).In stratified analysis,TPB outperformed TRB in CDR when the age of patients was 65–75 years(59.0%vs 22.0%,Pmore than 12(58.5%vs 31.5%,P=0.005).The CDR(P=0.712)and detection rate of csPCa(P=0.993)did not significantly differ among the systematic,targeted,and combined *** outperformed TRB in CDR for patients with gray-zone ***,performing target biopsy after systematic TPB provided no additional benefits in CDR.
