This paper explores the deployment of multimodal elements as appraisal resources in#Endsars civil unrest-related memes in Nigerian social media space(WhatsApp and Twitter)to express affective meanings and intersubjective *** study investigates how both verbal and non-verbal elements are deployed as appraisal resources to evaluate the trajectory of the *** data,which comprise thirty purposively selected Internet memes,collected between October and December,2020,were analysed *** study shows that the meme producers,through the use of multimodal concepts such as symbolic,analytical,action,reactional processes,offer and salience,among others,project various expressions of affect,judgement and appreciation of things to create important narratives in the ***,the verbal elements are graded/upscaled through the non-verbal elements in the memes to evoke specific reactions,positive/negative,which signal intersubjective positioning about the protest and relevant social *** study concludes that meme producers effectively utilize multimodal elements to interrogate various expressions of attitude and inter-subjective opinions that Nigerians made about the protest and its management by the Nigerian government.

This paper examines different modes of non-verbal communication deployed as discursive strategies/safety protocol measures during the Covid-19 crisis to warn people against contracting the disease and to contain its *** data,which consist of forty purposively selected images used by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control and remodified logos of some international brands shared on the social media space—NCDC website,Facebook and Twitter,are divided into four broad categories and analysed qualitatively using Kress and van Leeuwen’s Social Semiotic framework to examine their representational *** non-verbal modes of communication are used as representations to create awareness about the pandemic,depict its manifestations(signs and symptoms)and educate people on the important guidelines to observe in order to prevent contracting the infectious ***,different semiotic resources are deployed as meaning-making processes to interrogate these thematic *** study concludes that the choice of the non-verbal modes/images are intentional and strategic as their specificity projects the intended meaning of the message,enhances wider reach and enables effective communication of proper management of the health crisis.

Humans are daily exposed to free radicals from various sources causing degenerative diseases,but can be prevented by daily intake of natural *** orange is an underutilized anti-oxidants source which can help in curbing degenerative diseases,if its consumption is encouraged by masking its bitterness or sourness with a natural sweetening *** mixed fruits juices from various percentage of bitter orange and pineapple(0:100,25:75,50:50,75:25 and 100:0%)were produced using standard procedures,stored at ambient condition and analyzed monthly for a period of six *** physicochemical properties,antioxidant activities,sensory properties and microbial load were carried out using standard *** obtained were analyzed using *** pH,obrix,titratable acidity,vitamin C,total carotenoid,total antioxidant,DPPH,total phenolic,reducing power ranged from 2.43 to 4.34,10.66-15.40 obrix,0.08-0.86 mg/g,0.10-0.45 mg/g,0.03-0.98 mg/g,0.25-1.01 mg/g,14.95-91.28%,0.10-0.28 mg/g,0.11-1.64 mg/g *** colour,taste,aroma,mouth feel and overall acceptability varied from 6.53 to 7.63,4.42-8.16,6.21-7.47,4.63-7.89 and 5.21-7.89 *** percentage of mixing and length of storage had significant influenced on all the aforementioned parameters at 95%confidence *** sample having 25%of bitter orange and 75%pineapple was the most preferred by panelists,possessing high anti oxidants capacities and better keeping quality,while the quality of the product was acceptable up to 4 months without adding synthetic preservative at room temperature.

Laboratories play significant roles in all the critical processes of detecting rapid infectious disease outbreaks,risk assessments,early warnings,early responses and notifications,and monitoring and surveillance[1,2].Veterinary Laboratories(VLs)that rapidly identify,respond to and control rapidly spreading and emerging(or re-emerging)infectious and zoonotic diseases is critical to:(1)the financial performance of animal agriculture and international trade;(2)livelihoods of animal related industries;and(3)nutritional status,food security,and the socio-economic well-being of a country[3].

We report near-zero crossover for vanadium cross-permeation through single-layer graphene immobilized at the interface of two Nafion?polymer electrolyte *** ion diffusion and migration,including proton mobility through membrane composites,were studied with and without graphene under diffusion and migration ***-layer graphene was found to effectively inhibit vanadium ion diffusion and migration under specific *** single-layer graphene composites also enabled remarkable ion transmission selectivity improvements over pure Nafion membranes,with proton transport being four orders of magnitude faster than vanadium ion *** values of 0.02±0.005Ωcm^(2) for proton and 223±4Ωcm^(2) for vanadium ion through single atomic layer graphene are *** high selectivity may have significant impact on flow battery applications or for other electrochemical devices where proton conductivity is required,and transport of other species is *** results emphasize that crossover may be essentially completely eliminated in some cases,enabling for greatly improved operational viability.

The one-pot synthesis of ZSM-5-magadiite, ZSM-23-magadiite, and ZSM-5-ZSM-23-magadiite using isopropylamine and 2-propanol as an organic structure-directing agent and co-solvent, respectively, was studied. Zeolite mixtures were prepared by adding 2-propanol （0 to 10wt%） to the reaction solu- tion. The intergrowth of composites was observed when 2-propanol was introduced as a co-solvent into the reaction mixture. Synthesized samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction, field-emission scan- ning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis. The results revealed that the amount of 2-propanol and source of aluminum influenced the nature of the zeolite-magadiite composites formed.

A review on the ambit and prospects of C_3 and C_4 plants in Nigeria

Despite the enormous applications of photosynthesis in global carbon budget and food security, photosynthesis research has not been adequately explored as a research focus in Nigeria. Previous works on C3 and C4 plants in Nigeria were mainly on the use of anatomical characteristics to delimit plant species into their respective pathways, with no attention being paid to its applications. In this review, past and present knowledge gaps in this area of study are elucidated. Information used in this review were sourced from referred research articles and books in reputable journals. The results revealed that C3 and C4 plants are distributed among 21 genera and 11 families in Nigeria. In addition there is dearth of informatio such that only three genera have been classified based on diverse photosynthetic pathways with no information found on the physiological and biochemical characterization of these genera. Moreover, further research is also suggested for tackling new challenges in the area of food productivity and climate change.
