Experiences of implementing a coping mechanism for the elderly who face chronic diseases while living with the family: a phenomenology study

Objective: Physical and psychological stress causes harm to the health status of the elderly with chronic diseases. This study aimed to understand coping mechanisms of the elderly with chronic conditions who live with their family. Methods: This study was conducted using a descriptive phenomenology method from the experience of 13 older adults with chronic disease. The study processes were interviewed, tape recorded, transcribed, and explored from the transcripts using Colaizzi’s descriptive phenomenological method. The steps of the descriptive phenomenology process are bracketing, intuiting, analyzing, and describing. Results: The coping mechanisms used by the elderly with chronic diseases are (1) the behavioral focus coping ways by doing sports, and physical activities;(2) Focus on spirituality has been implemented by fasting, chanting, dhikr, and prayer;(3) The cognitive focus by working on hobbies or habitual activities and helping each other;(4) The social interaction focus was by interacting with friends, family, and neighbors. Conclusions: This shows that elderly adults with disease conditions try to adapt various forms of coping mechanisms, which positively affects their psychological state. Families which have elderly with chronic diseases are expected to provide nurturing and psychological support to them so that the elderly can consistently apply coping mechanisms to overcome and tackle chronic diseases. Understanding the coping mechanism implementation of the elderly who have chronic diseases by their family can guide health specialists in designing psychological and spiritual approach interventions.

Autoimmune pancreatitis(AIP)is a type of immune-mediated pancreatitis subdivided into two subtypes,type 1 and type 2 ***,type 1 AIP is considered to be the pancreatic manifestation of the immunoglobulin G4(IgG4)-related ***,AIP is increasingly researched and recognized,although its diagnosis represents a challenge for several reasons:False positive ultrasound-guided cytological samples for a neoplastic process,difficult to interpret levels of IgG4,the absence of biological markers to diagnose type 2 AIP,and the challenging clinical identification of atypical ***,60%and 78%of type 1 and type 2 AIP,respectively,are retrospectively diagnosed on surgical specimens of resected pancreas for suspected *** distinguishing AIP from pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma can be challenging,obtaining a definitive diagnosis can therefore prove difficult,since endoscopic ultrasound fine-needle aspiration or biopsy of the pancreas are *** paper focuses on recent innovations in the management of AIP with regard to the use of artificial intelligence,new serum markers,and new therapeutic approaches,while it also outlines the current management recommendations.A better knowledge of AIP can reduce the recourse to surgery and avoid its overuse,although such an approach requires close collaboration between gastroenterologists,surgeons and *** knowledge on AIP and IgG4-related disease remains necessary to diagnose and manage patients.

Hemorrhoidal disease is a prevalent anorectal condition which is generally not managed well with cur- rent pharmacologic interventions. However, in Iranian traditional medicine （ITM） there are numerous plants with hemorrhoid-healing properties. The present research assembled plants with hemorrhoid- healing properties in ITM; their related pharmacological effects, phytochemical constituents and mech- anisms of action in the modern medicine were also gathered. For this purpose, leading ITM textbooks were searched for plants with hemorrhoid-healing effects. Further, in vitro, in vivo and clinical studies on the most cited species were considered using scientific databases. Studying ITM textbooks revealed 37 medicinal plants with hemorrhoid-healing effects. Among the mentioned herbal medicines, six species, including Allium ampeloprasum, Phyllanthus emblica, Aloe vera, Terminalia chebula, Vitis vinifera and Comrniphora mukul, had the largest number of related pharmacological effects documented in scientific databases. These herbs from ITM should be considered as important resources for producing novel drugs for hemorrhoid treatment.

Phase modification and dielectric properties of a cullet–paper ash–kaolin clay-based ceramic

Novel ceramics from waste material made of(x) paper ash–(80-x) cullet–20 kaolin clay(10 wt% ≤ x ≤ 30 wt%) were successfully synthesized using a conventional solid-state reaction technique. Energy-dispersive X-ray analysis confirmed the presence of Si, Ca, Al, and Fe in the waste material for preparing these ceramics. The influence of the cullet content on the phase structures and the dielectric properties of these ceramics were systematically investigated. The impedance spectra were verified in the range from 1 Hz to 10 MHz at room temperature. The phase of the ceramics was found to primarily consist of wollastonite(CaSiO_3), along with minor phases of γ-dicalcium silicate(Ca_2SiO_4) and quartz(SiO_2). The sample with a cullet content of 55 wt% possessed the optimum wollastonite structure and exhibited good dielectric properties. An increase of the cullet content beyond 55 wt% resulted in a structural change from wollastonite to dicalcium silicate, a decrease in dielectric constant, and an increase in dielectric loss. All experimental results suggested that these novel ceramics from waste are applicable for electronic devices.

Probe vehicles with smart phones or other advanced technologies are attractive options for collecting real-time traffic *** this paper,a method is proposed to estimate the minimum number of equipped vehicles needed to completely cover the network within a specified updating period considering time dependent link travel *** method uses a traverse indicator,which is a function of a travel time factor,coverage factor,number of times a link has been traversed,and link travel *** approach is applied to two network structures(radial and grid)to test the sensitivity of the results to network structure,number of origins,travel time and coverage factors,and the updating *** travel time and coverage factors equal to 0.1 and 0.9,respectively,in the grid network and both equal to 0.5 in the radial network produce minimum fleet *** numbers of origins and updating periods generally yield lower fleet sizes.

The present investigation centers on the impact of viscous dissipation and ohmic heating on the plume generated by a line heat source under the impact of an aligned magnetic *** this study,the flow model is adapted to incorporate ohmic heating and viscous dissipation by including the respective terms in the energy equation.A mathematical model is formulated as a system of coupled partial differential equations to analyze the flow ***,a numerical solution is derived with stream function formulation for the system of coupled partial differential equations,which transmutes it into ordinary differential *** achieve this,the numerical properties of the problem are established through the utilization of the Shooting method in tandem with the MATLAB tool *** graphical representations of both missing and specified boundary conditions depict the effects of the magnetic parameter,viscous dissipation variable,magnetic force parameter,Prandtl number,and magnetic Prandtl *** are accompanied by a discussion of their respective physical *** observed results claimed that the velocity,current density,and temperature distribution decrease for enhancing magnetic ***,the skin friction and magnetic flux drop while the heat transfer rate increases with an increment in magnetic *** fluid flow and heat transfer characteristics were observed to decrease for increasing viscous *** current work is novel in incorporating ohmic heating viscous dissipation in energy equations coupled with Max-well and magnetic induction equations.
