The Ability of Some Aquatic and Terrestrial Plants to Purify Domestic Wastewater

The study aimed to evaluate the ability of some terrestrial and aquatic plants for wastewater puriﬁ*** plants can remove pollutants from wastewater by consuming and accumulating various contaminants in different parts of *** aquatic and terrestrial plants(Rosa sinensis,Typha latifolia,Ocimm bacilicum,Azolla pinnata,and Salvinia molesta)which have the ability to decrease water pollution were utilized in this *** capability offive different species of plants was investigated by measuring chemical oxygen demand(COD),biological oxygen demand(BOD),electrical conductivity(EC),total dissolved solids(TDS),and pH of the *** this research,some aquatic and terrestrial plants were transplanted in wastewater plastic pots containing domestic wastewater with different ratios of 50%and 100%.Then,after 30 days,the physiological and biochemical parameters of plants were calculated to observe the effect of wastewater on *** revealed higher chlorophyll and carotenoids in typha plants treated with 100%*** highest percentage of elimination in BOD(65%),COD(27%),TDS(72%),EC(83%),and pH(6.8%)was noted with the use of typha and ***,total soluble sugars,total free amino acids,and total proteins were found maximum in the hibiscus plant as compared to the other plants under 100%and 50%domestic wastewater treatment,while typha and ocimum showed lower values of these parameters irrespective of wastewater ***,the COD,BOD,TDS,EC,and pH trend was higher in 100%wastewater as compared to 50%*** into account the accumulation capacity of the tested plants especially typha can be efﬁciently used for the treatment of domestic wastewater.

Teicoplanin is a potential inhibitor of SARS CoV-2 replication enzymes:A docking study

Objective:To explore potential inhibitors of viral enzymes of SARS ***:The in-silico docked potential of anti-viral,antibiotic,and analgesic drugs were studied for inhibition of the nonstructural protein(NSP)9,NSP3,and NSP15 of SARS CoV-2 using recent structural peculiarities of these enzymes,3 D optimized structures of drugs and algorithm-based ligand inhibitory ***:Teicoplanin,azithromycin,and remdesivir potentially inhibited NSP9(Dock-score 9620,5472 and 6252,respectively),NSP3(Dock-score 9846,5604 and 5548,respectively)and NSP15(Dock-score 10960,6414 and 6002,respectively).Conclusions:Teicoplanin acts as a significant receptor antagonist and potentially inhibits the SARS CoV-2 enzymes.

Liquid-liquid extraction of phosphorus from sulfuric acid solution using benzyl dimethyl amine

This study addresses the liquid-liquid extraction behavior of phosphorus from a sulfuric acid solution using benzyl dimethyl amine(BDMA)in *** extraction equilibria investigated with varied BDMA concentrations could reveal the formation of 3[BDMA]·[H_(3)PO_(4)]^(-)complex in the organic *** thermodynamic properties determined at various temperatures indicated that the process was exothermic with a calculated enthalpy(△H^(Θ))of−24.0 kJ·mol^(−1).The organic-to-aqueous phase(O/A)volume ratio was varied to elucidate the quantitative extraction of *** McCabe-Thiele diagram plotted for the extraction isotherm was validated for the requirement of three counter-current stages in the extraction at an O/A volume ratio of 2.0/*** back-extraction of phosphorus from the loaded organic phase was quantitatively achieved by contacting 4.0 mol·L−1 H2SO4 solution in three stages of counter-current contact at an O/A volume ratio of 3/*** study can be applied to remove phosphorus from the sulfuric acid leach solutions of monazite processing,and many other solutions.

Preparation of LDPE-Acetylated/Butyrylated Starch Blend Blow Films and Characterization

Development of modified plastics has been studied through the LDPE-acylated starch blend films to examine the effect of different acyl groups and degrees of substitution （DS） on properties of films. Corn starch was modified with acetyl and hutyryl groups and films were prepared by blending acylated starch with low density polyethylene （LDPE）. Systematic studies were done to observe the effect of acyl groups, DS and starch concentration on the properties and biodegradability of the blend films. It was observed that blend films containing 5% acetylated and butyrylated starches of high DS （2.5, 1.7） maintained 75% and 83% of tensile strength of LDPE films. Thermal analysis results indicated that acetylated and butyrylated starch blend films decomposed at 370℃ and 389℃ which were higher than the decomposition temperature of native starch film （349℃）. Scanning electron micrographs of blend films containing high DS acylated starch showed well dispersed starch particles due to improvement in dispersion between starch and LDPE. Water absorption capacity of high DS acetylated and butyrylated starch blend films （4.18% and 3.76%, respectively） was lower than that of native starch films （5%）. This study has an advantage because of blown films prepared can be integrated with the present manufacturing systems without any other requirement.

Generation of a long-term daily gridded precipitation dataset for the rTjSj-Upper Indus Basin(UIB)through temporal Reconstruction,Correction I sag&Informed Regionalization-“ReCIR”

This study attempted to generate a long-term(1961-2010)daily gridded precipitation dataset for the Upper Indus Basin(UIB)with orographic adjustments so as to generate realistic precipitation estimates,enabling hydrological and water resource investigations that can close the water balance,that is difficult,if not impossible to achieve with the currently available precipitation data products for the *** procedure includes temporal reconstruction of precipitation series at points where data were not recorded prior to the mid-nineties,followed by a regionalization of the precipitation series to a smaller scale across the basin(0.125°x 0.125°),while introducing adjustments for the orographic effect and changes in glacier *** reconstruction process involves interpolation of the precipitation at virtual locations of the current(1995-)dense observational network,followed by corrections for frequency and intensity and adjustments for temporal trends at these virtual *** data generated in this way were further validated for temporal and spatial representativeness through evaluation of SWAT-modelled streamflow responses against observed flows across the *** results show that the calibrated SWAT-simulated daily discharge at the basin outlet as well as at different sub-basin outlets,when forcing the model with the reconstructed precipitation of years 1973—1996,is almost identical to that when forcing it with the reference precipitation data(1997-2008).Finally,the spatial distribution pattern of the reconstructed(1961—1996)and reference(1997—2008)precipitation were also found consistent across the UIB,reflecting well the large-scale atmospheric-circulation pattern in the region.

Sampling Designs for Validating Digital Soil Maps: A Review

Sampling design(SD) plays a crucial role in providing reliable input for digital soil mapping(DSM) and increasing its *** design, with a predetermined sample size and consideration of budget and spatial variability, is a selection procedure for identifying a set of sample locations spread over a geographical space or with a good feature space coverage. A good feature space coverage ensures accurate estimation of regression parameters, while spatial coverage contributes to effective spatial ***, we review several statistical and geometric SDs that mainly optimize the sampling pattern in a geographical space and illustrate the strengths and weaknesses of these SDs by considering spatial coverage, simplicity, accuracy, and efficiency. Furthermore, Latin hypercube sampling, which obtains a full representation of multivariate distribution in geographical space, is described in detail for its development, improvement, and application. In addition, we discuss the fuzzy k-means sampling, response surface sampling, and Kennard-Stone sampling, which optimize sampling patterns in a feature space. We then discuss some practical applications that are mainly addressed by the conditioned Latin hypercube sampling with the flexibility and feasibility of adding multiple optimization criteria. We also discuss different methods of validation, an important stage of DSM, and conclude that an independent dataset selected from the probability sampling is superior for its free model assumptions. For future work, we recommend: 1) exploring SDs with both good spatial coverage and feature space coverage; 2) uncovering the real impacts of an SD on the integral DSM procedure;and 3) testing the feasibility and contribution of SDs in three-dimensional(3 D) DSM with variability for multiple layers.

Flow of Burgers' fluid over an inclined stretching sheet with heat and mass transfer

Effects of heat and mass transfer in the flow of Burgers fluid over an inclined sheet are discussed. Problems formulation and relevant analysis are given in the presence of thermal radiation and non-uniform heat source/sink. Thermal conductivity is taken temperature dependent. The nonlinear partial differential equations are simplified using boundary layer approximations. The resultant nonlinear ordinary differential equations are solved for the series solutions. The convergence of series solutions is obtained by plotting theη-curves for the velocity, temperature and concentration fields. Results of this work describe the role of different physical parameters involved in the problem. The Deborah numbers corresponding to relaxation time(β1 and β2) and angle of inclination(α) decrease the fluid velocity and concentration field. Concentration field decays as Deborah numbers corresponding to retardation time(β3) and mixed convection parameter(G) increase. Large values of heat generation/absorption parameters A/B, and the temperature distribution across the boundary layer increase. Numerical values of local Nusselt number,-θ′(0), and local Sherwood number,-f′(0), are computed and analyzed. It is found that θ′(0) increases with an increase in β3.

Binding energy of the donor impurities in GaAs-Ga_(1-x)Al_xAs quantum well wires with Morse potential in the presence of electric and magnetic fields

The behavior of a donor in the GaAs–GaAlAs quantum well wire represented by the Morse potential is examined within the framework of the effective-mass approximation. The donor binding energies are numerically calculated for with and without the electric and magnetic fields in order to show their influence on the binding energies. Moreover, how the donor binding energies change for the constant potential parameters(De, re, and a) as well as with the different values of the electric and magnetic field strengths is determined. It is found that the donor binding energy is highly dependent on the external electric and magnetic fields as well as parameters of the Morse potential.

An optimized framework for degree distribution in LT codes based on power law

LT codes are practical realization of digital fountain codes, which provides the concept of rateless coding. In this scheme, encoded symbols are generated infinitely from k information symbols. Decoder uses only(1+α)k number of encoded symbols to recover the original information. The degree distribution function in the LT codes helps to generate a random graph also referred as tanner graph. The artifact of tanner graph is responsible for computational complexity and overhead in the LT codes. Intuitively, a well designed degree distribution can be used for an efficient implementation of LT codes. The degree distribution function is studied as a function of power law, and LT codes are classified into two different categories: SFLT and RLT codes. Also, two different degree distributions are proposed and analyzed for SFLT codes which guarantee optimal performance in terms of computational complexity and overhead.
