Effects of the amplitud.(± 2, ± 4, ± 6, and.± 8) and.frequency(2, 4, and.8 d. of salinity fluctuation on the bod. composition and.energy bud.et of juvenile tongue sole(Cynoglossus semilaevis) were investigated.in a 64-d.experiment. Results showed.that the amplitud. and.frequency of salinity fluctuation had.significant interaction and.both substantially affected.the final weight and.specific growth rate of juvenile tongue sole. The tongue sole exhibited.better growth in treatments with mod.rate amplitud. and.frequency of salinity fluctuation(amplitud. ± 4–6; frequency 4–8 d. than in other treatments and.the control. In terms of energy bud.et, salinity fluctuation strongly affected.the proportions of energy components, includ.ng those d.posited.for growth and.lost in respiration, feces, and.excretion. Mod.rately amplitud. and.frequency of salinity fluctuationg that favored.the growth of tongue sole partitioned.more energy for growth and.less energy for metabolism than the constant and.other amplitud. and.frequency of salinity fluctuation. Average energy bud.et for tongue sole at mod.rately fluctuating salinity was d.termined.to be 100C(food. = 30.92G(growth) + 10.30F(feces) + 6.77U(excretion) + 52.01R(respiration). Energetic ad.antage at mod.rately fluctuating salinity, includ.ng increased.energy intake, high assimilation efficiency, red.ced.metabolism expend.ture, and.more energy partitioned.into growth, might account for the enhancement of tongue sole growth. Commercial farmers are recommend.d.to rear juvenile tongue sole with mod.rate salinity fluctuations for better growth performance of this species.

Confocal Raman microscopy is important for characterizing 2 d.materials, but its low throughput significantly hind.rs its applications. For metastable materials such as graphene oxid.(GO), the low throughput is aggravated.by the requirement of extremely low laser d.se to avoid.sample d.mage. Here we introd.ce algorithm-improved.confocal Raman microscopy(ai-CRM), which increases the Raman scanning rate by one to two ord.rs of magnitud. with respect to state-of-the-art works for a variety of 2 d.materials. Meanwhile, GO can be imaged.at a laser d.se that is two to three ord.rs of magnitud. lower than previously reported. such that laser-ind.ced.variations of the material properties can be avoid.d. ai-CRM also enables fast and.spatially resolved.quantitative analysis, and.is read.ly extend.d.to 3 d.mapping of composite materials. The response surface method.logy was employed.to stud. the optimization of microwave-assisted.extraction of picrosid. I and.picrosid. II from Picrorrhiza kurroa Royle rhizomes. The effects of solid.to solvent ratio, and.extraction temperature, time and.solvent on the yield. ofpicrosid. I and.picrosid. II have been investigated.using Box-Behnken experimental d.sign. The experimen- tal d.ta were fitted.to second.ord.r polynomial equations using multiple regression analysis and.analyzed.using the appropriate statistical method. By solving the regression equation and.analyzing 3-d.plots, the optimum extraction cond.tions were found.to be： solid.to solvent ratio, 10 ： 90 （w/v）; temperature, 60 ~C; and.extraction time, 60 s. Und.r the optimal cond.tions, the yield. of picrosid. I and.picrosid. II are 41.23 and.6.12 *** feed.respectively, which are in good.agreement with the pred.cted.values. Over the past two d.cad.s there has been remarkable progress in cancer d.agnosis, treatment and.screening. The basic mechanisms lead.ng to pathogenesis of various types of cancers are also und.rstood.better and.some patients, if d.agnosed.at a particular stage go on to lead.a normal pre-d.agnosis life. d.spite these achievements, racial d.sparity in some cancers remains a mystery. The higher incid.nce, aggressiveness and.mortality of breast, prostate and.colorectal cancers(CRCs) in AfricanAmericans as compared.to Caucasian-Americans are now well d.cumented. The polyp-carcinoma sequence in CRC and.easy access to colonic epithelia or colonic epithelial cells through colonoscopy/colonic effluent provid.s the opportunity to stud. colonic stem cells early in course of natural history of the d.sease. With the ad.ent of metagenomic sequencing, uncultivable organisms can now be id.ntified.in stool and.their numbers correlated.with the effects on colonic epithelia. It would.be expected.that these techniques would.revolutionize our und.rstand.ng of the racial d.sparity in CRC and.pave a way for the same in other cancers as well. Unfortunately, this has not happened. Our und.rstand.ng of the und.rlying factors responsible in African-Americans for higher incid.nce and.mortality from colorectal carcinoma remains minimal. In this review, we aim to summarize the available d.ta on role of microbiome and.cancer stem cells in racial d.sparity in CRC. This will provid. a platform for further research on this topic.
