Maintaining the integrity and longevity of structures is essential in many industries,such as aerospace,nuclear,and *** achieve the cost-effectiveness of large-scale systems in petroleum drilling,a strong emphasis on structural durability and monitoring is *** study focuses on the mechanical vibrations that occur in rotary drilling systems,which have a substantial impact on the structural integrity of drilling *** study speciﬁcally investigates axial,torsional,and lateral vibrations,which might lead to negative consequences such as bit-bounce,chaotic whirling,and high-frequency *** events not only hinder the efﬁciency of drilling but also lead to exhaustion and harm to the system’s components since they are difﬁcult to be detected and controlled in real *** study investigates the dynamic interactions of these vibrations,speciﬁcally in their high-frequency modes,usingﬁeld data obtained from measurement while ***ﬁndings have demonstrated the effect of strong coupling between the high-frequency modes of these vibrations on drilling sys-tem *** obtained results highlight the importance of considering the interconnected impacts of these vibrations when designing and implementing robust control ***,integrating these compo-nents can increase the durability of drill bits and drill strings,as well as improve the ability to monitor and detect ***,by exploiting theseﬁndings,the assessment of structural resilience in rotary drilling systems can be ***,the study demonstrates the capacity of structural health monitoring to improve the quality,dependability,and efﬁciency of rotary drilling systems in the petroleum industry.

The foraging strategy at abundant resources of the social wasp Vespula germanica includes scanning in the direction of the nest while memorizing resource-specific landmarks and contextual *** the present study,we sought to explore wasps'behavioral plasticity on foraging trips to resources whose location and composition changed after a single *** evaluated how contextual modifications of food displacement and replacements 60 cm apart from the original site,affect re-orientation for re-finding previously memorized food *** results showed that wasps detected and collected the resource faster when more changes were introduced on the following *** returning foragers discovered several modifications on both the location and the kind of resource,they collected food more rapidly from the displaced dish,than if only a single parameter in the environment had been *** findings illustrate the grade of behavioral plasticity in *** while foraging on abundant resources,which may contribute to the understanding of the prodigious invasive success of this species in anthropized environments.

The role of general anesthetics and the mechanisms of hippocampal and extra-hippocampal dysfunctions in the genesis of postoperative cognitive dysfunction

Postoperative cognitive dysfunction （POCD） is a multifactorial process with a huge number of predisposing, causal, and precipitating factors. In this scenario, the neuroinflammation and the microglial activation play a pivotal role by triggering and amplifying a complex cascade involving the immuno-hormonal acti- vation, the micro circle alterations, the hippocampal oxidative stress activation and, finally, an increased blood-brain barrier＇s permeability. While the role of anesthetics in the POCD＇s genesis in humans is debated, a huge number of preclinical studies have been conducted on the topic and many mechanisms have been proposed to explain the potential neurodegenerative effects of general anesthetics. Probably, the problem concerns on what we are searching for and how we are searching and, surprisingly, preclinical studies showed that anesthetics may also manifest neuroprotective properties. The aim of this paper is to offer an overview on the potential impact of general anesthetics on POCD. Mechanisms of hippocampal and extra-hippocampal dysfunction due to neuroinflammation are discussed, whereas further research perspectives are also given.

B cell development in bone marrow is a precisely regulated complex *** successive stages of differentiation,which are regulated by a multitude of signaling pathways and an array of lineage-specific transcription factors,the common lymphoid progenitors ultimately give rise to mature B *** to early thymocyte development in the thymus,early B cell development in bone marrow is critically dependent on IL-7 *** this IL-7-dependent stage of differentiation,several transcription factors,such as e2A,eBF1,and Pax5,among others,play indispensable roles in B lineage specification and *** recent studies have implicated several other transcription factors in B cell development,the role of NFATc1 in early B cell developmental stages is not ***,using multiple gene-manipulated mouse models and applying various experimental methods,we show that NFATc1 activity is vital for early B cell *** of NFATc1 activity in pro-B cells suppresses eBF1 expression,impairs immunoglobulin gene rearrangement,and thereby preBCR formation,resulting in defective B cell ***,deficiency in NFATc1 activity arrested the pro-B cell transition to the pre-B cell stage,leading to severe B cell *** findings suggest that,along with other transcription factors,NFATc1 is a critical component of the signaling mechanism that facilitates early B cell differentiation.

BSN: The First Photometric Analysis of Contact Binary Systems V1961 Cyg and V0890 Lyr

We presented the first photometric analysis of the V1961 Cyg and V0890 Lyr binary *** observed and analyzed these systems at an observatory in France as part of the Binary Systems of South and North （BSN）*** extracted and collected the times of minima from the observations and literature and presented a new ephemeris for each *** to the few observations about these systems over the years,both O–C diagrams were fitted *** PHysics Of eclipsing Binaries （PHOeBe） Python code and the Markov Chain Monte Carlo （MCMC） method were used for light curve *** light curve solution required a cold starspot on the hotter component in the V1961 Cyg binary *** compared and have close agreements between our mass ratios’results from the light curve analysis processes and a new method based on the light curve *** estimated the absolute parameters using an empirical relationship between the semimajor axis and orbital period for contact binary *** results show V1961 Cyg and V0890 Lyr are W-type contact binary *** displayed stars and systems’positions in the M–L,M–R,and logMtot-log *** also presented a new relationship between mass ratio and luminosity ratio.

Reconsidering sex differences during place learning in tungara frogs

In tungara frogs, female mate choice requires remembering the location and/or calls of preferred males who advertise from fixed positions within a breeding pond. A previous study found that, when solving a place discrimination task in the laboratory, female tCingara frogs were able to learn a visual cue to solve the task, whereas males were not. In that task, male performance appeared to be inhibited, in part, by their attempt to use egocentric cues. We tested whether the sex difference in place learning previously reported would generalize to other training parameters with different cues available by eliminating the potential to use egocentric cues and increasing the number of trials per day. As before, frogs were given a choice between a red or yellow door, one of which led to shelters and return to their home cage. In the current testing conditions, we detected a preference for the red door;thus, we only considered frogs rewarded to the yellow door. Training was associated with an in crease in correct choices and an in creased preference for the yellow door. However, there was no evide nee for a sex d iff ere nee in learni ng. In summary, un der the curre nt training conditions, we fou nd that the appare nt female advantage in place learning was no Ion ger evide nt. Future studies that in vestigate sex d iff ere nces in cue pref ere nee and/or ability to switch among cues will further illuminate the conditions under which sex differences in learning are manifest in tungara frogs.

Comparison of laboratory and field electrical resistivity measurements of a gypsum rock for mining prospection applications

Geophysical surveys are frequently applied in mining prospection to detect the presence and volume of ore bodies of different ***,in gypsum ore bodies exploitation,electrical resistivity measurements are usually the most used ***,it has been observed that different electrical resistivity values can be obtained depending on geometrical features and composition of ***,electrical resistivity of gypsum rocks depends on several parameters,such as gypsum purity,nature of secondary minerals,porosity,saturation and interstitial fluid *** and hydrogeological setting,in particular,were recognized as the most influencing *** conditions of gypsum rock masses are also very relevant for exploitability,safety conditions and economic feasibility and should be accurately known during the prospection and planning phases of the *** this work,a relationship between electrical resistivity and saturation degree of gypsum is *** possibility to estimate gypsum porosity with the use of this relationship is also *** reliability of laboratory measurements is finally verified in comparison with field and modelled resistivity *** reported results underline the potentiality of the proposed approach to obtain a reliable characterization of the studied ore body.
