Corneal and intraocular pressure changes associated to the circadian rhythms:a narrative review

Virtual Transmission Solution Based on Battery Energy Storage Systems to Boost Transmission Capacity

The increasing penetration of variable renewable energy(VRE)generation along with the decommissioning of conventional power plants in Chile,has raised several operational challenges in the Chilean National Power Grid(NPG),including transmission congestion and VRE *** mitigate these limitations,an innovative virtual transmission solution based on battery energy storage systems(BESSs),known as grid booster(GB),has been proposed to increase the capacity of the main 500 kV corridor of the *** paper analyzes the dynamic performance of the GB using a wide-area electromagnetic transient(EMT)model of the *** GB project,composed of two 500 Mva BESS units at each extreme of the 500 kV corridor,allows increasing the transmission capacity for 15 min during N-1 contingencies,overcoming transmission limitations under normal operation conditions while maintaining system stability during *** dynamic behavior of the GB is also analyzed to control power flow as well as voltage *** results show that the GB is an effective solution to allow greater penetration of VRE generation while maintaining system stability in the NPG.

Background:To evaluate the precision of corneal higher-order aberrations measurements after small incision lenticule extraction(SMILE)using the Sirius Scheimpfug-Placido topographer(CSo,Italy).Methods:Seventy-fve eyes from 75 postoperative subjects were included in this prospective *** consecutive corneal aberrometric measurements were obtained with the Scheimpfug-Placido topographer by two experienced operators to assess intra-and inter-observer *** within-subject standard deviation(Sw),test-retest repeatability(TRT)and the intraclass correlation coefcient(ICC)were ***:For intraobserver repeatability of anterior and total corneal aberrations,all ICCs were more than 0.922,except for trefoil(0.722 to 0.768).The ICCs of total root mean square(RMS),coma Z(3,±1),and spherical aberration Z(4,0)were over 0.810 while higher-order RMS,trefoil Z(3,±3),and astigmatism II Z(4,±2)were below 0.634 for posterior corneal surface *** Sw values for all types of aberrations were equal to or below 0.07μ*** interobserver reproducibility,all TRT values were no more than 0.12μm,0.05μm,and 0.11μm for anterior,posterior,and total corneal aberrations,*** ICC values ranged from 0.875 to 0.989,from 0.686 to 0.976 and over 0.834 for anterior,posterior,and total corneal aberrations,***:The repeatability of measurements of anterior and total corneal aberrations with the Sirius system in corneas after SMILE surgery was high,except for *** was some variability in posterior corneal aberrometric *** reproducibility of corneal aberrometric measurements was observed between measurements of both examiners,except for trefoil,with poor to moderate reproducibility.

Evaluation of corneal parameter changes under different accommodative stimuli with Scheimpflug imaging-based tomography

AIM:To evaluate the reliability of measurements of corneal changes with accommodation in healthy eyes using a Scheimpflug imaging-based system and how these measurements distribute in the normal ***:Prospective,non-randomized,comparative study including 27 healthy subjects(54 eyes),including emmetropia(13 eyes),myopia(17 eyes),hyperopia(4 eyes)and astigmatism(20 eyes)*** all cases,a complete eye examination was performed,including the analysis of corneal changes with different accommodative stimuli(+2.00,0.00 and-3.00 D)using the Pentacam AXL *** investigation was structured in 2 phases:repeatability analysis and characterization of accommodation-related corneal changes in healthy ***:In the repeatability analysis,the index of height asymmetry(IHA)showed the greatest variability with the three accommodative stimuli,being the results for the rest of parameters *** group of emmetropes showed significant differences with accommodative changes in the position of maximum keratometry(Kmax;Poup,significant changes were not only observed in the position of Kmax,but also in minimum corneal thickness(MCT),corneal spherical aberration,and total and low order aberration root mean square(all Pound in the displacement of the X position of Kmax with+2.00 D and-3.00 D in the myopia group(P=0.033)as well as in changes with+2.00 D and-3.00 D in the magnitude of the position vector of Kmax in the emmetropia group(Po significant changes were found between accommodative stimuli in the displacement of coordinates of MCT(P≥0.109).CoNCLUSIoN:The position of Kmax and MCT in healthy corneas can change significantly when presenting different accommodative stimuli using the accommodation mode of the Pentacam system,with different trends in these accommodation-related corneal changes between refractive ***,the consistency of the measurement

BACKGRoUND The association between the intestinal microbiota and psychiatric disorders is becoming increasingly *** gut microbiota contributes to colorectal carcinogenesis(CRC),as demonstrated with colibactin-producing Escherichia coli(CoPEC).AIM To evaluate the association between CoPEC prevalence and anxiety-and depressive-like behaviors with both preclinical and clinical *** Patients followed after a CRC surgery and for whom the prevalence of CoPEC has been investigated underwent a psychiatric *** were compared according to the CoPEC *** parallel C57BL6/J wild type mice and mice with a CRC susceptibility were chronically infected with a CoPEC *** behavior was assessed using the Elevated Plus Maze test,the Forced Swimming Test and the Behavior recognition system PhenoTyper®.RESULTS In a limited cohort,all patients with CoPEC colonization presented with psychiatric disorders several years before cancer diagnosis,whereas only one patient(17%)without CoPEC *** result was confirmed in C57BL6/J wildtype mice and in a CRC susceptibility mouse model(adenomatous polyposis colimultiple intestinal neoplasia/+).Mice exhibited a significant increase in anxiety-and depressive-like behaviors after chronic infection with a CoPEC *** This finding provides the first evidence that CoPEC infection can induce microbiota-gut-brain axis disturbances in addition to its procarcinogenic properties.

The effect of reactive plasticizer on viscoelastic and mechanical properties of solid rocket propellants based on different types of HTPB resin

Conventional plasticizers deteriorate mechanical and viscoelastic properties of the propellants due to their migration upon aging and long-term storage,which affects reliability and safety properties during *** address this issue,conventional plasticizer,dioctyl adipate(DoA),is replaced by reactive one,castor oil(Co).In addition,three different types of HTPB were used to obtain propellants with designed viscoelastic and mechanical *** Co increased propellants viscosity,without a significant impact on the propellant processability,regardless to the type of ***,mechanical properties were different depending on the type of resin,which were further analyzed by gel permeation chromatography(GPC).Addition of Co formed a denser polymer network and shifted T_(g) to higher values,compared to the compositions with *** tensile strength of Co-containing propellants was lower at +20℃ and +50℃ compared to the reference compositions,while the strain at maximum load and strain at break were significantly increased with pronounced plastic deformation,especially for samples at -30℃.The inclusion of Co in the propellants composition gives more room for adjusting a wide range of mechanical properties.

Interaction of Acaena elongata *** Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi under Phosphorus Limitation Conditions in a Temperate Forest

The aim of this study was to analyze the performance of Acaena elongata colonized by arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi(AMF)to different phosphorus(P)concentrations,as a measure of AMF ***,is a species from soils where P availability is limited,such as temperate *** research questions were:1)How do different P concentrations affect the AMF association in Acaena elongata,and 2)How does the AMF association influence ***’s growth under different P concentrations?***’s growth,P content in plant tissue,AMF colonization and dependency were measured under four P concentrations:control(0 g P kg^(-1)),low(0.05 g P kg^(-1)),intermediate(0.2 g P kg^(-1))and high(2 g P kg^(-1))in different harvests.A complete randomized block design was ***’s growth was higher under-AMF in intermediate and high P concentrations,and the lowest growth corresponded to+AMF in the low and intermediate P *** observed a negative effect on the root biomass under+AMF in intermediate P concentration,while the P concentration had a positive effect on the leaf area *** AMF colonization in *** decreased in the highest P concentration and it was favored under intermediate P concentration;while the low and the high concentrations generated a cost-benefit *** results suggest that the performance of some plant species in soils with low P availability may not be favored by their association with AMF,but a synergy between AMF and intermediate P concentrations might drive ***’s growth.
