Digital mapping of soil physical and mechanical properties using machine learning at the watershed scale

Knowledge about the spatial distribution of the soil physical and mechanical properties is crucial for soil management,water yield,and sustainability at the watershed scale;however,the lack of soil data hinders the application of this tool,thus urging the need to estimate soil properties and consequently,to perform the spatial *** research attempted to examine the proficiency of three machine learning methods(RF:Random Forest;Cubist:Regression Tree;and SVM:Support Vector Machine)to predict soil physical and mechanical properties,saturated hydraulic conductivity(Ks),Cohesion measured by fall-cone at the saturated(Psat)and dry(Pdry)states,hardness index(HI)and dry shear strength(SS)by integrating environmental variables and soil features in the Zayandeh-Rood dam watershed,central *** determine the best combination of input variables,three scenarios were examined as follows:scenarioⅠ,terrain attributes derivative from a digital elevation model(DEM)+remotely sensed data;scenarioⅡ,covariates of scenarioⅠ+selected climatic data and some thematic maps;scenarioⅢ,covariates in scenarioⅡ+intrinsic soil properties(Clay,Silt,sand,bulk density(BD),soil organic matter(SOM),calcium carbonate equivalent(CCE),mean weight diameter(MWD)and geometric weight diameter(GWD)).The results showed that for Ks,Psat Pdry and SS,the best performance was found by the RF model in the third scenario,with R2=0.53,0.32,0.31 and 0.41,respectively,while for soil hardness index(HI),Cubist model in the third scenario with R2=0.25 showed the highest *** predicting Ks and Psat,soil characteristics(*** and soil SOM and BD),and land use were the most important *** predicting Pdry,HI,and SS,some topographical characteristics(Valley depth,catchment area,mltiresolution of ridge top flatness index),and some soil characteristics(***,SOM and MWD)were the most important input *** results of this research present moderate accuracy,however,the methodology em

Cyber Secure Framework for Smart Containers Based on Novel Hybrid DTLS Protocol

The Internet of Things (IoTs) is apace growing, billions of IoT devicesare connected to the Internet which communicate and exchange data among eachother. Applications of IoT can be found in many fields of engineering and sciencessuch as healthcare, traffic, agriculture, oil and gas industries, and logistics. Inlogistics, the products which are to be transported may be sensitive and perishable, and require controlled environment. Most of the commercially availablelogistic containers are not integrated with IoT devices to provide controlled environment parameters inside the container and to transmit data to a remote *** necessitates the need for designing and fabricating IoT based smart containers. Due to constrained nature of IoT devices, these are prone to different cybersecurity attacks such as Denial of Service (DoS), Man in Middle (MITM) andReplay. Therefore, designing efficient cyber security framework are required forsmart container. The Datagram Transport Layer Security (DTLS) Protocol hasemerged as the de facto standard for securing communication in IoT ***, it is unable to minimize cyber security attacks such as Denial of Serviceand Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) during the handshake process. Themain contribution of this paper is to design a cyber secure framework by implementing novel hybrid DTLS protocol in smart container which can efficientlyminimize the effects of cyber attacks during handshake process. The performanceof our proposed framework is evaluated in terms of energy efficiency, handshaketime, throughput and packet delivery ratio. Moreover, the proposed framework istested in IoT based smart containers. The proposed framework decreases handshake time more than 9% and saves 11% of energy efficiency for transmissionin compare of the standard DTLS, while increases packet delivery ratio andthroughput by 83% and 87% respectively.

Modeling the effect of uniform and nonuniform dispersion of nanofillers on electrical tree propagation in polyethylene dielectric

Efficient Body-Transfer Wheelchair for Assisting Functionally Impaired People

Functionally impaired people always have difficulty accomplishing activities of daily *** this regard,tasks including toileting and bathing have a higher prevalence rate of injuries and greater risk of *** this study,a body-transfer wheelchair was developed to assist people in transferring from bed to wheelchair for bathing,and *** bodytransfer wheelchair is a semi-automatic wheelchair that has features such as a controlled leg and backrest,linkage commode slot,and height *** wheelchair consists of a seat and a main frame that can be detached to enable bathtub *** mechanism lets the user stay on the seat while being transferred into the bathtub without any risk of falling.A linkage mechanism was developed as a part of the seat for ease of *** and force analysis was conducted to calculate the force required for each *** has been proved by the experimental results that the wheelchair can securely and comfortably transfer a patient from the bed to the toilet or bathtub.A survey has been conducted to evaluate the wheelchair prototype design *** focus groups were chosen:one comprised of functionally impaired people,and the other comprised of *** results of the survey show that 60%of both functionally impaired people and caregivers would like to use the body-transfer wheelchair for toileting and bathing ***,on average 65%of both focus groups find it convenient to operate the body-transfer wheelchair independently.

PoIR: A Node Selection Mechanism in Reputation-Based Blockchain Consensus Using Bidirectional LSTM Regression Model

This research presents a reputation-based blockchain consensus mechanism called Proof of Intelligent Reputation(PoIR)as an alternative to traditional Proof of Work(PoW).PoIR addresses the limitations of existing reputationbased consensus mechanisms by proposing a more decentralized and fair node selection *** proposed PoIR consensus combines Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory(BiLSTM)with the Network Entity Reputation Database(NERD)to generate reputation scores for network entities and select authoritative *** records network entity profiles based on various sources,i.e.,Warden,Blacklists,DShield,AlienVault Open Threat Exchange(OTX),and MISP(Malware Information Sharing Platform).It summarizes these profile records into a reputation score *** PoIR consensus mechanism utilizes these reputation scores to select authoritative *** evaluation demonstrates that PoIR exhibits higher centralization resistance than PoS and *** nodes were selected fairly during the 1000-block proposal round,ensuring a more decentralized blockchain *** contrast,malicious nodes successfully monopolized 58%and 32%of transaction processes in PoS and PoW,respectively,but failed to do so in *** findings also indicate that PoIR offers efficient transaction times of 12 s,outperforms reputation-based consensus such as PoW,and is comparable to reputation-based consensus such as ***,the model evaluation shows that BiLSTM outperforms other Recurrent Neural Network models,i.e.,BiGRU(Bidirectional Gated Recurrent Unit),UniLSTM(Unidirectional Long Short-Term Memory),and UniGRU(Unidirectional Gated Recurrent Unit)with 0.022 Root Mean Squared Error(RMSE).This study concludes that the PoIR consensus mechanism is more resistant to centralization than PoS and *** BiLSTM and NERD enhances the fairness and efficiency of blockchain applications.

Evaluation of microstructure and mechanical properties of squeeze overcast Al7075-Cu composite joints

Al7075-Cu composite joints were prepared by the squeeze overcast *** effects of melt temperature,die temperature,and squeeze pressure on hardness and ultimate tensile strength(UTS)of squeeze overcast Al7075-Cu composite joints were *** experimental results depict that squeeze pressure is the most significant process parameter affecting the hardness and *** optimal values of UTS(48 MPa)and hardness(76 HRB)are achieved at a melt temperature of 800℃,a die temperature of 250℃,and a squeeze pressure of 90 *** electron microscopy(SEM)shows that fractured surfaces show flatfaced morphology at the optimal experimental ***-dispersive spectroscopy(edS)analysis depicts that the atomic weight percentage of Zn decreases with an increase in melt temperature and squeeze *** optimal mechanical properties of the Al7075-Cu overcast joint were achieved at the Al2Cu eutectic phase due to the large number of copper atoms that dispersed into the aluminum melt during the solidification process and the formation of strong intermetallic *** relational analysis integrated with the Taguchi method was used to develop an optimal set of control variables for multi-response parametric *** tests were performed to validate the effectiveness of the employed *** manufacturing of squeeze overcast Al7075-Cu composite joints at optimal process parameters delivers a great indication to acknowledge a new method for foundry practitioners to manufacture materials with superior mechanical properties.

Performance Enhancement of Praseodymium Doped Fiber Amplifiers

In this paper,we report a simulation study on the performance enhancement of Praseodymium doped silica fiber amplifiers(PDFAs)in O-band(1270-1350 nm)in terms of small signal gain,power conversion efficiency(PCE),and output optical power by employing bidirectional *** PDFA performance is examined by optimizing the length of Praseodymium doped silica fiber(PDF),its mode-field diameter(MFD)and the concentration of Pr^(3+).A small-signal peak gain of 56.4 dB,power conversion efficiency(PCE)of 47%,and output optical power of around 1.6 W(32 dBm)is observed at optimized parameters for input signal wavelength of 1310 *** noise figure(NF)of 4.1 dB is observed at input signal wavelength of 1310 ***,the effect of varying the pump wavelength and pump power on output optical power of the amplifier and amplified spontaneous emission(ASE)noise is also investigated,***,the impact of ion-ion interaction(up-conversion effect)on small-signal gain of the amplifier is also studied by considering different values of up-conversion coefficient.

Video Games Localization into Arabic:Gamers’Reactions to Localizing PUBG and Free Fire

The Middle East and North Africa(MENA)region has an active gaming community,with Arab gamers being reliant on games produced in Europe,America,and Japan due to the lack of significant game production companies in the MENA *** study explores the gamers’reactions to the localization process of two video games,namely PUBG and Free *** data collection purposes,a five-point Likert scale questionnaire that consisted of 18 items and six constructs,namely need for subtitled games,technical aspects,language issues,language preference,attitudes to game localization,and future actions and recommendations,was designed to elicit the reactions of 112 *** analyzing the responses,the findings showed that the better the technical aspects and language issues of the games’performance,the more positive participants’attitudes to game *** study recommends that further research could be conducted on the localization of video games with different themes into Arabic.

Stimulants and donors promote megaplasmid pND6-2 horizontal gene transfer in activated sludge

The activated sludge process is characterized by high microbial density and diversity,both of which facilitate antibiotic resistance gene *** studies have suggested that antibiotic and non-antibiotic drugs at sub-inhibitory concentrations are major inducers of conjugative gene *** self-transmissible plasmid pND6-2 is one of the endogenous plasmids harbored in Pseudomonas putida ND6,which can trigger the transfer of another co-occurring naphthalene-degrading plasmid ***,to illustrate the potential influence of stimulants on conjugative transfer of pND6-2,we evaluated the effects of four antibiotics (ampicillin,gentamycin,kanamycin,and tetracycline) and naphthalene,on the conjugal transfer efficiency of pND6-2 by filter-mating *** findings demonstrated that all stimulants within an optimal dose promoted conjugative transfer of pND6-2from Pseudomonas putida GKND6 to *** KT2440,with tetracycline being the most effective (100μg/L and 10μg/L),as it enhanced pND6-2-mediated intra-genera transfer by approximately one ***,seven AS reactors were constructed with the addition of donors and different stimulants to further elucidate the conjugative behavior of pND6-2 in natural *** stimulants positively affected the conjugal process of pND6-2,while donors reshaped the host abundance in the *** was likely because stimulant addition enhanced the expression levels of conjugation transfer-related ***,Blastocatella and Chitinimonas were identified as the potential receptors of plasmid pND6-2,which was not affected by donor *** findings demonstrate the positive role of sub-inhibitory stimulant treatment on pND6-2 conjugal transfer and the function of donors in re-shaping the host spectrum of pND6-2.
