The corticospinal tract （CST） is a major neuronal tract of motor function in the human brain （York, 1987; Davidoff, 1990; Jang, 2014）. Recovery of an injured CST is one of the motor recovery mechanisms in stroke patients （Hendricks et al., 2003; Jang et al., 2006, 2007; Swayne et al., 2008; Kwon et al., 2011, 2013; Kwon and Jang, 2012; Yeo and Jang, 2013; Rong et al., 2014）. Diffusion tensor tractography （DTT）, derived from diffusion tensor imaging （DTI）, and transcra- nial magnetic stimulation （TMS） have been widely used in demonstrating the recovery of an injured CST （Hendricks et al., 2003; Jang et al., 2006, 2007; Swayne et al., 2008; Pannek et al., 2009; Kwon et al., 2011, 2013; Kwon and Jang, 2012; Yeo and Jang, 2013; Rong et al., 2014）. DTT has the advan- tage of enabling visualization of the architecture and integ- rity of the CST at the subcortical level in three dimensions （Mori et al., 1999; Kunimatsu et al., 2004）.

Graphene oxide and silver nanowires were bar coated onto polyethylene terephthalate （PET） substrates and then welded using an ultraviolet （UV）-assisted flash light irradiation process to achieve both high electrical conductivity and low haze. The irradiation process connected adjacent silver nanowires by welding, while simultaneously reducing the graphene oxide to graphene. This process was performed using a custom W-assisted flash light welding system at room temperature under ambient conditions and was extremely rapid, with processing time of several milliseconds. The effects of varying the weight fractions of the silver nanowires and graphene oxide and of varying the W-assisted flash light welding conditions （light energy and pulse duration） were investigated. The surface morphologies of the welded silver nanowire/graphene films were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy. Optical characterizations, including transmittance and haze measurements, were also conducted using a spectrophotometer. To test their resistance to oxidation, the welded silver nanowire/graphene films were subjected to high temperature in a furnace （100 ℃）, and their sheet resistances were measured every hour. The flash light welding process was found to yield silver nanowire/graphene films with high oxidation resistance, high conductivity （14.35 Ω·sq-1）, high transmittance （93.46%）, and low haze （0.9%）. This material showed uniform temperature distribution when applied as a resistive heating film.

This paper presents a macroscopic constitutive model reproducing the hysteretic behaviors of the superelastic shape memory alloy (SMA) under cyclic loading. The progressive increase of residual strain with the increased cycle number in such materials is assumed to be a consequence of the progressive increase of residual stress-induced martensitic volume fraction upon the cyclic effects. The progressive decrease of phase transformation critical stresses with the increased cycle number in such materials is assumed to be a result from the progressive increase of phase transformation critical temperatures upon the cyclic effects. A cyclic evolution equation is supposed to describe the influences of cycle effects on the material properties of the SMA under cyclic loading. A phase transformation equation expressing the phase transformation behaviors of the SMA under cyclic loading is established based on the differential relationship between martensitic volume fraction and the free energy increment of phase transformation. A mechanical constitutive equation predicting the mechanical characteristics of the SMA under cyclic loading is developed on the basis of thermodynamics and continuum mechanics. The cyclic evolution equation, phase transformation equation, and mechanical constitutive equation together compose the presented macroscopic constitutive model considering cyclic effects. Results of the numerical simulations illustrate that it can well reproduce the superelastic hysteretic behaviors of the SMA under cyclic loading.

The mechanisms of motor recovery through the transcallosal pathway remain poorly understood. The present study reports on a hemiplegic patient with corona radiata infarct; it attempts to confirm motor recovery through the transcallosal motor pathway, from the affected motor cortex to the affected hand, using diffusion tensor tractography and transcranial magnetic stimulation. A 54-year-old, male patient and eight age-matched, normal subjects were enrolled in the study. The patient＇s right hand was initially completely paralyzed, but slowly recovered over 6 months. In the control subjects and the unaffected hemisphere （right） of the patient, the corticospinal tracts originated from the motor cortex and descended along the known corticospinal tract pathway. however, the corticospinal tract of the affected hemisphere was disrupted at the upper pons. Following transcranial stimulation of the affected （left） motor cortex, motor evoked potential from the affected （right） abductor pollicis brevis muscle exhibited longer latency than opposite motor evoked potential. Results from the present study suggest that motor function of the affected （right） hand recovered via the transcallosal motor pathway from the affected （left） motor cortex in this patient.

We report a patient who presented with neurological deterioration 26 days after a motor vehicle accident. A 25-year-old man crashed a car onto farmland from a height of approximately 3 meters. Neurological deterioration including ataxia and visual disturbance became apparent 26 days after the accident. Brain magnetic resonance imaging did not reveal any abnormality, but brain single photon emission computed tomography showed mild hypoperfusion in the left frontotemporal lobe. An ophthalmic examination revealed no specific abnormality, but visual-evoked potentials revealed prolonged latencies in both eyes. We propose that this neurological deterioration might have resulted from traumatic axonal injury. As such, future studies should examine preventive strategies against delayed deterioration in patients with head trauma.

A new concept of bend-mode inkjet nozzle with double PZT (lead zirconate titanate) actuators has been designed and fabricated in the present study. Then the pressure wave and fluid velocity at the nozzle exit have been investigated. The complex pressure behavior inside the channel was solved numerically based on the narrow channel acoustic theory. The two PZTs attached to a rectangular channel were actuated sequentially by setting the waveforms of each PZT to be center-aligned with various pulse widths. As a result, the double PZT actuation is superior to the single PZT actuation in view of strong momentum force and fast dissipation of residual pressure. The maximum fluid velocity at the nozzle exit is observed when the respective pulse widths equal to their optimum pulse widths. The numerical results are supported by the experimental results with the fabricated inkjet device by measuring the speed of meniscus just out of the nozzle.

The cingulum,connecting the orbitofrontal cortex to the medial temporal lobe,involves in diverse cognition functions including attention,memory,and *** investigate the relationship between the cingulum injury and cognitive impairment in patients with chronic mild traumatic brain injury,we evaluated the integrity between the anterior cingulum and the basal forebrain using diffusion tensor tractography in 73 patients with chronic mild traumatic brain injury(39 males,34 females,age 43.29±11.42 years)and 40 healthy controls(22 males,18 females,age 40.11±16.81 years).The patients were divided into three subgroups based on the integrity between the anterior cingulum and the basal forebrain on diffusion tensor tractography:subgroup A(n=19 patients)– both sides of the anterior cingulum were intact;subgroup B(n=36 patients)– either side of the anterior cingulum was intact;and subgroup C(18 patients)– both sides of the anterior cingulum were *** were significant differences in total Memory Assessment Scale score between subgroups A and B and between subgroups A and *** were no significant differences in diffusion tensor tractography parameters(fractional anisotropy,apparent diffusion coefficient,and fiber volume)between patients and *** findings suggest that the integrity between the anterior cingulum and the basal forebrain,but not diffusion tensor tractography parameter,can be used to predict the cognitive function of patients with chronic mild traumatic brain *** study was approved by Yeungnam University hospital Institutional Review Board(approval ***-2014-01-425-010)on August 16,2017.
