Molybdenum phosphide is a potential hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)***,traditional high-temperature phosphating preparation methods are prone to damage of material morphology and *** the carbon skeleton to limit the size and morphology of MoP and to improve the conductivity of the material is an effective method to improve the performance of the ***,there is a lack of research on the effect of carbon skeleton and MoP composite structure on the catalytic mechanism of *** coated ZIF-8 on the surface of MoP nanorods,and obtained open N-doped carbon-coated porous MoP nanorods(N/C/MoP)through carbonization and *** have shown that the ZIF-8 coating effectively limits the size and morphology of the material and avoids *** alkaline conditions,N/C/MoP has a low overpotential of 169 mV for HER at 10 mA/cm2,which is 55 mV lower than MoP without a carbon *** the same time,its Tafel slope(51.3 mV/dec)is smaller than Pt/C(59.9 mV/dec),and it has good *** functional theory(DFT)studies have shown that under alkaline conditions,there is a synergistic effect between the open N-doped carbon layer and the exposed MoP active surface,which reduces the activation energy of water and improves the catalytic performance of *** is worth noting that a tight coating will hinder the exposure of active sites and reduce catalytic activity.

Vesicular Li3V2(PO4)3/C hollow mesoporous microspheres as an efficient cathode material for lithium-ion batteries

Vesicular lithium vanadium phosphate/carbon hollow mesoporous microspheres were fabricated using a facile polyvinylpyrrolidone-assisted aerosol-spray-assisted method and subsequent heat-treatment. While changing the content of polyvinylpyrrolidone, we found that carbon content was adjustable on the surface of lithium vanadium phosphate. By optimizing the carbon content among the composites, the electrochemical performance can be enhanced significantly. The results of electrochemical performance tests suggested that the samples exhibited good cycle performance and high discharge capability in the voltages between 3.0-4.8 V. The observed excellent electrochemical performances could be attributed to the proper content of carbon coating and the vesicular hollow mesoporous microsphere structure, increasing the transmission rate of lithium ions and reducing the structural change during charging and discharging effectively.

New insights into the effect of molecular crowding environment induced by dimethyl sulfoxide on the conformation and stability of G-quadruplex

Various structures of G-quadruplex in biosystems play an important role in different diseases and are often regulated by a variety of molecular crowding environments induced by internal and even external factors(e.g.,a solvent).Dimethyl sulfoxide(DMSO),a universal solvent,has been widely used in biological studies and for drug therapy,but little is known regarding its effect on G-quadruplex structure and ***,we report the influence of molecular crowding environment induced by DMSO on the conformation and stability of G-quadruplex *** show that the G-quadruplex-forming sequences such as human telomeric sequence,which may have diverse conformations in different environments,tend to convert their topologies to parallel structures under the molecular crowding stimulated by ***,DMSO can increase the stability of the parallel and antiparallel topologies,especially the parallel G-quadruplex sequence c-kit,but not the hybrid *** analysis of c-kit using the CD and NMR technique,combined with the unique structural characteristics of c-kit,reveals that the crowding,dehydration and interaction of DMSO are conductive to the formation and stability of the parallel *** present study suggests that,DMSO,a common solvent used in DNA experiments,may have a nonnegligible influence on the structure and stability of G-quadruplex.

Micro-distribution and mechanical characteristics analysis of remaining oil

Effects of dietary nickel on detoxification enzyme activities in the midgut of Spodoptera litura Fabricius larvae

Nickel accumulated in midugt of Spodoptera litura Fabricius could induce the expression of metal-lothionein,one of the most important detoxification proteins in *** the present study,the effects of dietary nickel on the activities of detoxification enzymes,such as carboxylesterase(CarE) and glutathione S-transferase(GST) in the midgut of *** larvae have been studied to get an un-derstanding of the detoxification mechanisms of *** larvae to excessive *** showed that CarE activities in the midgut of the 5th instar larvae decreased at lower levels of nickel(≤5 mg/kg),while increased with increasing nickel doses at higher levels of nickel(≥10 mg/kg) exposure in suc-cessive 3 *** activities of the 6th instar larvae were also characterized as inhibited at low levels of nickel exposure,and improved at higher levels in the 1st *** activities of 6th instar larvae in the 2nd and 3rd generations were all lower than that in ***,GST activities in the midgut of the 5th and 6th instar larvae all increased with increasing nickel doses(1―20 mg/kg) in diets.

Synchronous constructing ion channels and confined space of Co_(3)O_(4) anode for high-performance lithium-ion batteries

The yolk–shell structure has a unique advantage in lithium-ion batteries applications due to its ability to effectively buffer the volume expansion of the lithiation/delithiation ***,its development is limited by the low contact point between the core and ***,we propose a general strategy of simultaneous construction of sufficient reserved space and multicontinuous active channels by pyrolysis of two carbon substrates.A double-shell structure consisting of Co_(3)O_(4) anchored to hollow carbon sphere and external self-supporting zeolitic imidazolate framework(ZIF)layer was constructed by spray pyrolysis and additional carbon coating in-situ *** the process of high-temperature calcination,the carbon and nitrogen layers between the shells separate,creating additional space,while the Co_(3)O_(4) particles between the shells remain are still in close contact to form continuous and fast electron conduction channels,which can realize better charge *** to the synergy of these design principles,the material has ultra-high initial discharge capacities of 2,183.1 mAh·g^(−1) at 0.2 A·g^(−1) with capacity of 1,121.36 mAh·g^(−1) after 250 cycles,the long-term capacities retention rate is about 92.4%after 700 cycles at 1 A·g^(−1).This unique channel-type double-shell structure fights a way out to prepare novel electrode materials with high performance.

Nickel accumulation and its effects on the survival rate of Spodoptera litura Fabricius under continuous nickel stress

The artificial diets mixed with various concentrations of nickel were offered to the larvae of the phytophagous insect Spodoptera litura Fabricius for 3 generations. Nickel accumulations in the 6th instar larvae, pupae and newly emerged adults of the corresponding generations of S. litura were investigated by Inductively Coupled Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectrometer (ICP-AES), and the effects of nickel accumulations on the survival rate of S. litura were also evaluated by individual rearing. The results showed that nickel accumulated in the 6th instar larvae, pupae and adults of S. litura, and the accu- mulated nickel in all the tested developmental stages within a generation increased with the increase of the nickel doses in the treated diets and showed significant dose-dependent relationship with the nickel doses in the artificial diets. The results also indicated that the nickel accumulations in the 6th instar larvae, pupae, and newly emerged adults from the 3rd generation were higher than those from the 2nd generation, which were also higher than those from the 1st generation. Nickel concentrations in pupae and adults were significantly lower than those in larvae, which indicated that the excessive nickel might be excreted during metamorphosis. Furthermore, larval survival rate, pupation rate and eclosion rate of S. litura in the tested three generations all decreased with the increase of the nickel doses in the treated diets.

Metallothionein expression induced by nickel accumulation in the midgut of Spodoptera litura Fabricius larvae exposed to nickel

Metallothionein expression induced by nickel accumulation in the midgut of Spodoptera litura Fabri- cius larvae was investigated by exposing S. litura larvae to the artificial diets amended with different doses of nickel for 3 generations. Nickel accumulations in the midgut of 6th instar larvae were detected by Inductively Coupled Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectrometer (ICP-AES), and the induced metal- lothionein expression in the midgut of 5th and 6th instar larvae in 120 h were quantified using cad- mium-hemoglobin total saturation methods. The accumulated nickel in the midgut of the 6th instar larvae within a generation increased with the increase of the nickel doses in the treated diets and showed significant dose-dependence with the nickel doses in diets. Metallothioneins induced by nickel accumulated in the larval midgut also increased with nickel doses in diets and with the increasing stressing time in a generation. Results also suggested that the metallothionein expression was differ- ent with the time of S. litura larvae stressed by nickel.

Spectroscopic studies of the interaction between methyleneblue and G-quadruplex

G-rich single-stranded DNA (5′-TTAG-GG-3′) adopted a G-quadruplex structure in buffercontaining potassium ions. The spectroscopic featureand the interaction between methylene blue andG-quadruplex have been investigated by circular di-chroism, and nuclear magnetic resonance spectros-copy. The UV-Vis absorption and fluorescence spec-tral results show that the fluorescence behavior ofMB by single-stranded DNA fits Stern-Volmer staticquenching equation very well and they formed 1︰1complexes; dimeric G-quadruplexes were bound toMB with 1︰1 or 2︰1, and their equilibrium constantswere 1.047×105 and 8.79×104 L/mol, *** on the above results and 1H-NMR spectraldata, one may conclude that MB stacked either theterminal tetrads to form 1︰1 complexes or betweentwo terminal tetrads of G-quadruplexes to form 1︰2sandwich complexes with G-qudruplexes.

Apoptosis of Spodoptera litura larval hemocytes induced byheavy metal zinc

By adding different amount of zinc into the artificial medium of the insect larvae, the zinc-induced apoptosis of the larvae haemocytes of the herbivorous insect Spodoptera litura Fabricius was investigated with flow cy- tometer. The results showed that the increase of zinc dose in the artificial feed led to the accumulations of zinc in the lar- val hemolymph and fat body, and more zinc was accumu- lated in fat body than in hemolymph. The apoptosis of hemocytes was significantly induced at high zinc concentra- tion (1000 mg·kg?1) in the insect diet, and the apoptosis rate was 63.63%, which was remarkably higher than that at con- trol and lower concentrations (50―500 mg·kg?1). This sug- gests that the high dose of zinc in the artificial diet of S. litura larvae could induce the apoptosis of the larval hemocytes of S. litura.
