Beam breakup simulation study for a high energy ERL

The maximum beam current that can be accelerated in an energy recovery linac （ERL） can be severely limited by the transverse multi-pass beam breakup instability （BBU）, especially in future ERL light sources with multi-GeV high energy beam energy and more than 100 mA average current. In this paper, the multi-pass BBU of such a high energy ERL is studied based on the simulation of a 3-GeV ERL light source that is proposed by KEK. This work is expected to provide a reference for future high energy ERL projects.

A lipoplex （i.e., pDNA#1/lipid complex and transfection reagent for pDNA delivery） containing galactosylceramide （GalCer） and an amidine-bearing lipid （TRX） was examined whether the bound pDNA was specifically ingested by hepatocyte via asialoglycoprotein receptor （ASGPR） and then expressed protein. Gel electrophoresis and small-angle X-ray scattering （SAXS） confirmed that the TRX-GalCer liposome#2 complexed with pDNA and the resultant lipoplex took a hexagonally packed inverted cylinder structure when the GalCer composition was less than 20 wt.% of the total lipid. When the lipoplex carrying pGL3 （luciferase-cording pDNA） was administrated to HepG2, the luciferase activity was increased with increasing the GalCer composition until it reached 3 wt.% and then decreased upon further addition of GalCer. When we added galactose itself as a competitor, the luciferase activity was decreased, while glucose did not show such decrease, suggesting that HepG2 ingested the lipoplex via ASGPR-mediated endocytosis. This paper indicated that the hexagonally packed inverted cylinder structures of lipoplex may not always provide excellent transfection and presented a possibility that the TRX lipoplex#3 can obtain a cellulartargeting ability through the receptors for oligosaccharide.

The size distribution of a muck pile depends not on only the blasting standard but also on the mechanical properties,joint system,and crack density of the rock mass. As,the cracks in the rock masses are especially heavily developed at the limestone quar- ries in Japan,they,along with the joints,have a large impact on the effects of blasting, such as the size of the muck ***,if the joint system and/or crack density in a rock mass can be determined and quantitatively evaluated,the blasting operation can be conducted more effectively,efficiently and ***,guidelines for designing ap- propriate blasting standards based on the rock mass conditions have not yet been scien- tifically ***,blasting tests were conducted on different mines and faces, under different geological conditions and blasting standards,in order to determine the im- pacts of each factor on the effects of *** the results of a series of blast- ing tests and described the impacts of geological conditions on the size of the muck pile produced by blast.

利用X射线衍射(XRD)、角分辨光电子能谱(ARPES)和能带计算的方法研究了不同温度下γ-PtBi_(2)的晶体结构。利用单晶XRD确定了室温下晶体的结构为P31m。为了确定低温时样品的晶体结构,用ARPES测得了样品的电子结构并与计算结果进行了对比,结果显示样品的结构与P31m相吻合,这表明在低温时样品依然保持P31m结构。进一步的高温XRD研究表明,在高温时样品的晶体结构仍为P31m结构。

It is poorly understood how plants control their growth by cell division, elongation, and differentiation. We have characterized a seedling-lethal mutant segregation distortion 3 （sd3） that showed a very dwarf phenotype when grown in the light and, in the dark, had short hypocotyls with reduced ploidy levels. The corresponding gene of SD3 encodes a protein with high similarity to yeast translocase on the inner mitochondrial membrane 21 （TIM21）, which is a component of the TIM23 complex. Indeed, SD3 protein fused to GFP localized in the mitochondria. SD3 overexpression increased cotyledon size in the light and hypocotyl thickness in the dark. The expression of genes for several subunits of the respiratory-chain complexes III and IV was up-regulated in SD3-overexpressing plants. Furthermore, these plants showed high levels of ATP whereas those of sd3 were low. These results suggested that SD3 induced an increase in cell size by raising the expression of the respiratory-chain subunit genes and hence increased the intracellular ATP levels, We propose that intracellular ATP levels regulated by mitochondria control plant organ size.

Effects of Teriparatide and Aerobic Exercise on Lumbar Spine Microstructure in Ovariectomized and Tail-Suspended Rats

Osteoporosis is an increasingly prevalent malady of the elderly that is associated with bone fragility and increased risk of fractures. Osteoporosis treatments focus on restoring bone strength and quality. Teriparatide (TPTD) is a therapeutic agent that has been shown to increase bone strength by improving the volume and connectivity of trabecular bone. Exercise is also known to have pro-osteogenic effects. Here we used a rat model of severe osteoporosis (ovariectomized and tail-suspension) to evaluate the effects of TPTD, exercise and a combination of TPTD and exercise on the microstructure of trabecular bone. TPTD mono-therapy and TPTD combined with exercise treatment significantly increased bone mineral density (BMD) in the whole body. Micro-computed tomography analysis revealed that a combination of exercise and TPTD treatment significantly decreased bone surface to volume and trabecular separation compared with those of the control and exercise groups. Node-strut analysis indicated that exercise or TPTD alone did not affect trabecular bone connectivity. However, the combination of exercise and TPTD treatment significantly decreased measures of trabecular bone connectivity (node number) that are consistent with a transition from rod-like to plate-like of trabecular bone microstructures. The combination treatment with exercise and TPTD improved microstructure of trabecular bone in the OVX and tail-suspended rats. These results indicate that combining exercise with TPTD represents a viable means to improve cancellous bone strength in osteoporosis populations.

Treatment of 1,2-C6H4（SiH3）（SiH3）（1） or 1,2-C6H4（SiMe2H）（SiH3）（2） with Pd（dcpe）（PEt3）2 （dcpe？=？Cy2PCH2CH2PCy2） in the ratio of 1∶1 affords two cis- bis（silyl） palladium（II） complexes {1,2-C6H4（SiH2）（SiH2）}PdII（dcpe）（3） and {1,2- C6H4（SiMe2）（SiH2）}PdII（dcpe）（4） with good thermal stability respectively. To the best of our knowledge, only ten silyl palladium complexes prepared from these two chelating hydrosilane ligands are presented in the Cambridge Structural Database. The structures of complexes 3 and 4 are unambiguously determined by single crystal X-ray analysis and multinuclear NMR spectroscopic studies.

Ordinary electrolytic polymerization has involved plastic-type polymer solutions. Rubber, especially natural rubber, is one such polymer solution. Rubber has not been focused on until recently due to the fact that electrolytic polymerization has only a very small effect on rubber. However, when we focus on the C=C bonds of natural rubber, the same electrolytic polymerization is applicable to be enlarged on the natural rubber if a magnetic field and a filler are added. With the application of a magnetic field and a magnetic responsive fluid such as magnetic compound fluid (MCF), the effect of electrolytic polymerization on NR-latex such as plastic-type polymer solutions is enhanced, and the thickness of the vulcanized MCF rubber grows in a short time. The present new method of vulcanization of MCF rubber is effective enough that it is widely used in haptic sensors in various engineering applications. In the present report, as mechanical approach for the sensing, by measuring the temperature under electrolytic polymerization, by investigating the electric and dynamic characteristics, and by observing the magnified appearance of the MCF rubber, we clarified the extrinsic effects of many experimental conditions, including magnetic field strength, applied voltage, the electrodes gap, mass concentration, and the ingredients of the MCF. This report is Part 1, to be followed by another sequential report, Part 2, in which other intrinsic effects on the characteristics are dealt with. The experimental conditions used and the results obtained in the present report provide valuable data that will be useful in the making of MCF rubber.

Liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS) is now considered to be the most promising analytical method for the determination of biological substances, especially nonvolatile or highly polar substances However, some compounds do not show enough sensitivity in LC/MS and soft ionization methods commonly used in LC/MS, such as electrospray ionization (ESI) and atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI), sometimes do not give satisfactory structural information This report presents an overview of the derivatization methods in the LC/MS analysis of neurosteroids or neuroactive neurosteroids, which are synthesized and accumulated in the nervous system The derivatization of pregnenolone 3 sulfate, one of these steroids, with 4 ( N,N dimethylaminosulfonyl) 7 hydrazino 2,1,3 benzoxadiazole gave a satisfactory sensitivity during the quantitative analysis using LC/ESI MS The obtained results are much lower than those previously obtained using gas chromatography/mass spectrometry or radioimmunoassay On the other hand, the derivatization to acetate was useful for the treatment of labile catechol estrogens in rat brains and gave enough structural information in LC/APCI MS, which confirmed the existence of catechol estrogens in mammalian
