Realising the potential of Magnesium(Mg),several globally leading ventures have invested in the Mg industry,but their relatively poor corrosion resistance is a never ending saga till *** corrosion and bio-corrosion behaviour of Mg has gained research attention and still remains a hot topic in the application of automobile,aerospace and biomedical *** intrinsic high electrochemical nature of Mg limits their utilization in diverse *** scenario has prompted the development of Mg composites with an aim to achieve superior corrosion and bio-corrosion *** present review enlightens the influence of grain size(GS),secondary phase,texture,type of matrix and reinforcement on the corrosion and bio-corrosion behaviour of Mg ***,the corrosion and bio-corrosion behaviour of Mg composites manufactured by primary and secondary processing routes are ***,the comprehensive corrosion and bio-corrosion mechanisms of these Mg composites are ***,the individual role of GS,texture and corrosive medium on corrosion and bio-corrosion behaviour of Mg composites are clarified and *** challenges encountered,unanswered issues in this field are explained in detail and accordingly the scope for future research is *** review is presented from basic concrete background to advanced corrosion mechanisms with an aim of creating interest among the readers like students,researchers and industry experts from various research ***,the corrosion and bio-corrosion behaviour of Mg composites are critically reviewed for the first time to:(i)contribute to the body of knowledge,(ii)foster research and development,(iii)make breakthrough,and(iv)create life changing innovations in the field of Mg composite corrosion.

The Wireless Sensor Network(WSN)is a network that is constructed in regions that are inaccessible to human *** widespread deployment of wireless micro sensors will make it possible to conduct accurate environmental monitoring for a use in both civil and military *** make use of these data to monitor and keep track of the physical data of the surrounding environment in order to ensure the sustainability of the *** data have to be picked up by the sensor,and then sent to the sink node where they may be *** nodes of the WSNs are powered by batteries,therefore they eventually run out of *** energy restriction has an effect on the network life span and environmental *** objective of this study is to further improve the Engroove Leach(EL)protocol’s energy efficiency so that the network can operate for a very long time while consuming the least amount of *** lifespan of WSNs is being extended often using clustering and routing *** Meta Inspired Hawks Fragment Optimization(MIHFO)system,which is based on passive clustering,is used in this study to do *** cluster head is chosen based on the nodes’residual energy,distance to neighbors,distance to base station,node degree,and node *** on distance,residual energy,and node degree,an algorithm known as Heuristic Wing Antfly Optimization(HWAFO)selects the optimum path between the cluster head and Base Station(BS).They examine the number of nodes that are active,their energy consumption,and the number of data packets that the BS *** overall experimentation is carried out under the MATLAB *** the analysis,it has been discovered that the suggested approach yields noticeably superior outcomes in terms of throughput,packet delivery and drop ratio,and average energy consumption.

An innovative microcrystalline cellulose(MCC)natural fibre powder-reinforced PLA biocomposite was investigated using the hand lay-up *** polymer matrix composite(PMC)samples were prepared by varying the weight percentages(wt.%)of both PLA matrix and MCC reinforcement:pure PLA/100:0,90:10,80:20,70:30,60:40 and 50:50 wt.%,*** the results obtained,MCC powder,with its impressive aspect ratio,proved to be an ideal reinforcement for the PLA,exhibiting exceptional mechanical *** was evident that the 80:20 wt.%biocomposite sample exhibited the maximum improvement in the tensile,flexural,notched impact,compressive strength and hardness by 28.85%,20.00%,91.66%,21.53%and 35.82%,respectively compared to the pure PLA ***,during the thermogravimetric analysis(TGA),the same 80:20 wt.%biocomposite sample showed a minimum weight loss of 20%at 400℃,among *** morphological study using Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy(FE-SEM)revealed that the uniform distribution of cellulose reinforcement in the PLA matrix actively improved the mechanical properties of the biocomposites,especially the optimal 80:20 wt.%***,it was evident that the optimal PLA/cellulose biocomposite sample could be a suitable and alternative sustainable,environmentally friendly and biodegradable material for semi/structural applications,replacing synthetic and traditional components.

A screen-printed, amperometric biosensor for the determination of organophosphorus pesticides in water samples

An amperometric biosensor based on screen-printed electrodes （SPEs） was developed for the determination of organophosphorus pesticides in water samples. The extent of acetylcholinesterase （AChE） deactivation was determined and quantified for pesticide concentrations in water samples. An enzyme immobilization adsorption procedure and polyacrylamide gel matrix polymerization were used for fabrication of the biosensor, with minimal losses in enzyme activity. The optimal conditions for enzyme catalytic reaction on the SPEs surfaces were acetylthiocholine chloride （ATChCl） concentration of 5 mmol/L, pH 7 and reaction time of 4 min. The detection limits for three organophosphorus pesticides （dichlorvos, monocrotophs and parathion） were in the range of 4 to 7 μg/L when an AChE amount of 0.1 U was used for immobilization.

Hybrid Offset Slider Crank Mechanism for Anthropomorphic Flexion in Prosthetic Hands

The underactuated fingers used in prosthetic hands account for a large part of design consideration in anthropomorphic prosthetic hand *** are considerable numbers of designs available for underactuated prosthetic fingers in literature but,emulating the anthropomorphic flexion movement is still a challenge due to the complex nature of the *** address this challenge,a hybrid mechanism using both linkage-based mechanism and tendon-driven actuation has been proposed in this *** presented mechanism includes a novel offset slider-crank-based finger that has been designed using a combination of different lengths of cranks and connecting *** prototypes of both the new mechanism and the conventional tendon-driven mechanism are constructed and compared experimentally based on interphalangeal joint angle trajectory during *** angles achieved through the new hybrid mechanism are compared with the conventional tendon-driven mechanism and the Root Mean Square Error(RMSE)values have been calculated by comparing to the anthropomorphic flexion angles of the published *** RMSE values calculated for three interphalangeal joints of the hybrid mechanism are found to be less than their counter-parts of the conventional tendon-driven *** addition to achieving resemblance to anthropomorphic flexion angles,the mechanism is designed within the anthropometric human finger dimensions.

Multilayer perceptron neural network activated by adaptive Gaussian radial basis function and its application to predict lid-driven cavity flow

To improve the performance of multilayer perceptron(MLP)neural networks activated by conventional activation functions,this paper presents a new MLP activated by univariate Gaussian radial basis functions(RBFs)with adaptive centers and widths,which is composed of more than one hidden *** the hidden layer of the RBF-activated MLP network(MLPRBF),the outputs of the preceding layer are first linearly transformed and then fed into the univariate Gaussian RBF,which exploits the highly nonlinear property of *** RBFs might address the issues of saturated outputs,low sensitivity,and vanishing gradients in MLPs activated by other prevailing nonlinear ***,we apply four MLP networks with the rectified linear unit(ReLU),sigmoid function(sigmoid),hyperbolic tangent function(tanh),and Gaussian RBF as the activation functions to approximate the one-dimensional(1D)sinusoidal function,the analytical solution of viscous Burgers’equation,and the two-dimensional(2D)steady lid-driven cavity *** the same network structure,MLP-RBF generally predicts more accurately and converges faster than the other ***-RBF using less hidden layers and/or neurons per layer can yield comparable or even higher approximation accuracy than other MLPs equipped with more layers or neurons.
