In recent times, lithium-ion batteries have been widely used owing to their high energy density, extended cycle lifespan, and minimal self-discharge rate. The design of high-speed rechargeable lithium-ion batteries faces a significant challenge owing to the need to increase average electric power during charging. This challenge results from the direct influence of the power level on the rate of chemical reactions occurring in the battery electrodes. In this study, the taguchi optimization method was used to enhance the average electric power during the charging process of lithium-ion batteries. The taguchi technique is a statistical strategy that facilitates the systematic and efficient evaluation of numerous experimental variables. The proposed method involved varying seven input factors, including positive electrode thickness, positive electrode material, positive electrode active material volume fraction, negative electrode active material volume fraction, separator thickness, positive current collector thickness, and negative current collector thickness. Three levels were assigned to each control factor to identify the optimal conditions and maximize the average electric power during charging. Moreover, a variance assessment analysis was conducted to validate the results obtained from the taguchi analysis. The results revealed that the taguchi method was an eff ective approach for optimizing the average electric power during the charging of lithium-ion batteries. This indicates that the positive electrode material, followed by the separator thickness and the negative electrode active material volume fraction, was key factors significantly infl uencing the average electric power during the charging of lithium-ion batteries response. The identification of optimal conditions resulted in the improved performance of lithium-ion batteries, extending their potential in various applications. This study reports verification results of hindcast data of four systems in the subseasonal-to-seasonal(s2s)prediction project for major stratospheric sudden warmings(MssWs)in northern winter from 1998/99 to 2012/*** report deals with average features across all MssWs,and possible differences between two MssW types(vortex displacement and split types).Results for the average features show that stratospheric forecast verifications,when further averaged among the four systems,are judged to be successful for lead times around 10 d or *** systems are skillful for lead times around 5 d,whereas the results vary among the systems for longer lead times.A comparison between the MssW types overall suggests larger forecast errors or lower skill for MssWs of the vortex split type,although the differences do not have strong statistical significance for almost all *** limitation is likely to at least partly reflect the small sample size of the MssWs available.

Type 2 diabetes一associated with impaired insulin/insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF1) signaling (IIs)一is a risk factor for cognitive impairment and dementia including Alzheimer's disease (AD). The insulin receptor substrate (IRs) proteins are major components of IIs, which transmit upstream signals via the insulin receptor and/or IGF1 receptor to multiple intracellular signaling pathways, including AKT/protein kinase B and extracellular-signal-regulated kinase cascades. Of the four IRs proteins in mammals, IRs1 and IRs2 play key roles in regulating growth and survival, metabolism, and aging. Meanwhile, the roles of IRs1 and IRs2 in the central nervous system with respect to cognitive abilities remain to be clarified. In contrast to IRs2 in peripheral tissues, inactivation of neural IRs2 exerts beneficial effects, resulting in the reduction of amyloid p accumulation and premature mortality in AD mouse models. On the other hand, the increased phosphorylation of IRs 1 at several serine sites is observed in the brains from patients with AD and animal models of AD or cognitive impairment induced by type 2 diabetes. However, these serine sites are also activated in a mouse model of type 2 diabetes, in which the diabetes drug metformin improves memory impairment. Because IRs1 and IRs2 signaling pathways are regulated through complex mechanisms including positive and negative feedback loops, whether the elevated phosphorylation of IRs1 at specific serine sites found in AD brains is a primary response to cognitive dysfunction remains unknown. Here, we examine the associations between IRs 1 /1 Rs2-mediated signaling in the central nervous system and cognitive decline.

No reports have described experiments designed to determine the strength characteristics of spinal nerve roots and rami radiculares for the purpose of explaining the complexity of symptoms of medullary cone lesions and cauda equina syndrome. In this study, to explain the pathogenesis of cauda equina syndrome, monoaxial tensile tests were performed to determine the strength characteristics of spinal nerve roots and rami radiculares, and analysis was conducted to evaluate the stress-strain relationship and strength characteristics. Using the same tensile test device, the nerve root and ramus radiculares isolated from the spinal cords of pigs were subjected to the tensile test and stress relaxation test at load strain rates of 0.1, 1, 10, and 100 s-1 under identical settings. The tensile strength of the nerve root was not rate dependent, while the ramus radiculares tensile strength tended to decrease as the strain rate increased. These findings provide important insights into cauda equina symptoms, radiculopathy, and clinical symptoms of the medullary cone.

AIM： To estimate whether s-TI571 inhibits the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor （VEGF） in the gastrointestinal stromal tumor （GIsT） cells. METHODs： We used GIsT cell line, GIsT-T1. It has a heterogenic 57-bp deletion in exon 11 to produce a mutated c-KIT, which results in constitutive activation of c-KIT. Cells were treated with/without sTI571 or stem cell factor （sCF）. Transcription and expression of VEGF were determined by RT-PCR and flow cytometry or Western blotting, respectively. Activated c-KIT was estimated by immunoprecipitation analysis. Cell viability was determined by PITT assay. REsULTs： Activation of c-KIT was inhibited by sTI571 treatment. VEGF was suppressed at both the transcriptional and translational levels in a temporal and dose-dependent manner by sTI571. sCF upregulated the expression of VEGF and it was inhibited by s-13571. sTI571 also reduced the cell viability of the GIsT-T1 cells, as determined by PTT assay. CONCLUsION： Activation of c-KIT in the GIsT-T1 regulated the expression of VEGF and it was inhibited by sT571. sTI571 has antitumor effects on the GIsT cells with respect to not only the inhibition of cell growth, but also the suppression of VEGF expression.

Duodenal stenosis resulting from a preduodenal portal vein and an operation for scoliosis

A preduodenal portal vein （PDPV） is known to be a rare cause of duodenal stenosis. We treated a 22-yearold male patient with malnutrition as a result of PDPV and a previously performed operation for scoliosis, who showed an improvement in quality of life after being treated with a combination of nutritional support and surgery. The patient with PDPV had been admitted to our department with duodenal stenosis, ranging from the first to third portions. He had suffered from vomiting since 1 year of age, and he developed malnutrition during the last 6-too period after orthopedic surgery for scoliosis. The stenosis was related to both the PDPV and the previously performed operation for scoliosis. After receiving nutritional support for 6 mo, a gastrojejunostomy with Braun＇s anastomosis for the first portion and a duodenojejunostomy for the second and third portions were performed. The postoperative course was almost uneventful. Three months later, he was discharged and able to attend university. In patients with widespread duodenal stenosis, there may be a complicated cause,such as PDPV and duodenal stretching induced by previous spinal surgery.

Dual Band MIMO Antenna Composed of Two Low Profile Unbalanced Fed Inverted L Antennas for Wireless Communications

A low profile dual-band multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) antenna system is proposed. The proposed MIMO antenna consists of two low profile unbalanced fed inverted L antennas with parasitic elements to resonate at 2.45 GHz and 5 GHz. The structure is uncomplicated by locating two ultra low profile inverted L antennas on the finite conducting plane. The proposed MIMO antenna is numerically and experimentally analyzed. When the size of conducting plane is 55 mm by 55 mm and the height of antenna is 9 mm, the directive gain of 4.11 dBi and the s11 bandwidth of 5.71% are achieved for lower frequency of 2.45 GHz. At the upper frequency of 5 GHz, the directive gain of 8.22 dBi and the s11 bandwidth of 6% are obtained. The proposed antenna has good diversity gain, shown by the correlation coefficient becomes less than 0.005 at the frequency of 2.45 GHz and 5 GHz band when the distance between inverted L elements is 41 mm. A good agreement between calculated and measured results is obtained. The results show that the weak mutual coupling of the proposed antenna and this feature enables it to cover the required bandwidths for WLAN operation at the 2.4 GHz band and 5 GHz band.
