Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)remains a global *** of August 18,2021,the number of reported cases has exceeded 207 million globally,with more than 4.3 million ***-19 has brought devastating losses to human *** overall crude mortality rate is 1-3%.Although pediatric deaths from COVID-19 are rare,they do occur,as over 9,000 children have died from COVID-19 globally to date[1].With the gradual and broad application of COVID-19 vaccines around the world,the rising proportion of cases among children and unvaccinated young adults demands *** to World Health Organization surveillance data.

Eighteen patients underwent stenting for symptomatic basilar artery stenosis. There were three major periprocedural complications(16.7%) without fatality. At a mean 26.7 ±12.1-month follow-up, 15 patients (83.3%) had an excellent lon g-term *** one patient (5.6%) had moderate disability from recurrent stroke, and two patients died of medical illness at 30 and 36 months after stent ing. In this uncontrolled study,stenting appeared to be effective in reducing st roke risk and death and worthy of further scrupulous trial.

Histology involves the observation of structural features in tissues using a *** diffraction-limited optical microscopes are commonly used in histological investigations,their resolving capabilities are insufficient to visualize details at subcellular *** a novel set of super-resolution optical microscopy techniques can fulfill the resolution demands in such cases,the system complexity,high operating cost,lack of multi-modality,and low-throughput imaging of these methods limit their wide adoption for histological *** this study,we introduce the photonic chip as a feasible high-throughput microscopy platform for super-resolution imaging of histological *** cryopreserved ultrathin tissue sections of human placenta,mouse kidney,pig heart,and zebrafish eye retina prepared by the Tokuyasu method,we demonstrate diverse imaging capabilities of the photonic chip including total internal reflection fluorescence microscopy,intensity fluctuation-based optical nanoscopy,single-molecule localization microscopy,and correlative light-electron *** results validate the photonic chip as a feasible imaging platform for tissue sections and pave the way for the adoption of super-resolution high-throughput multimodal analysis of cryopreserved tissue samples both in research and clinical settings.

Background:Traditionally,a stoma is established after resection of perforated or necrotic intestine for isolated intestinal perforation (IIP) and necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC).We compared the outcome of resection and anastomosis (RA) with stoma formation (Rs). Methods:sixty-eight neonates undergoing laparotomy for IIP (n=20),NEC(n=43),and indeterminate cause (n=5) were reviewed retrospectively. Intestinal resection was followed by either anastomosis or stoma. The primary outcome measure was the frequency of anastomosis-and stoma-related complications. Results:The median gestational age (GA) was 28.5 weeks and birth weight (BW)-was 940 g. Thirty-seven neonates had RA (NEC 22,IIP 14,1 unknown),28 Rs (NEC 21,IIP 6,1 unknown),and 3 laparotomy only. Twenty-five neonates died postoperatively. The mean ± sD GA of those who survived was 30 ± 4.5 weeks and those who died was 27.2 ± 3.5 weeks (P=0.008). The mean BW for those that survived was 1440.5 ± 865.1 g and those who died was 827.7 ± 385.1 g (P=0.002). There was no statistically significant difference between the RA and Rs groups for GA (P=0.93),BW(P=0.4),general complications (P=0.96),anastomosis and stoma complications (P=0.48),and deaths (P=0.42). Conclusions:RA,rather than stoma,is an acceptable option in the surgical management of preterm neonates with IIP or NEC.

Objective: To study the vascular patterns of ovarian tumors by color Doppler imaging (CDI) and compare the findings of conventional sonographic studies and CDI with histopathologic findings for the same tumors. Methods: Fifty nonpregnant women scheduled for elective surgery for ovarian tumors were examined by sonographic scanning and CDI by the same physician. sonographic morphology scores[sMss] were used, and the pulsatility index (PI) and resistance index (RI) were calculated after locating vessels in and around the tumors by CDI. Results: It was possible to obtain CDI results in 26 of the 50 women. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), and negative predictive value (NPV) were 100% , 71.43% , 73.33% , and 100% , respectively, for sMs. With CDI, the sensitivity, specificity, PPV, and NPV were 100% , 85.72% , 95% , and 100% for PI and 100% , 71.43% , 90.48% , and 100% for RI. RI sensitivity and specificity were identical to those of sMs, i.e., 100% and 71.43% , respectively, but PI specificity was better (85.72% ). Conclusion: In this study, CDI was definitely better than sMs when color flow could be obtained through the tumors. The overall efficiency in diagnosing the nature of tumors is very high if sMs and CDI are both used in patients having ovarian tumors.
