The combination of therapies may be the promising future for the treatment of esthetic alterations more efficiently and in less time, in order to obtain an excellent result. our objective was to evaluate the effectiveness of hydrolysed collagen associated with radiofrequency and electrostimulation in the treatment of flaccidity in the abdominal and gluteal regions. The sample consisted of 6 women, evaluated through evaluation protocols, questionnaires, dynamometry, ultrasound exams, and histological analysis. The volunteers were distributed into three subgroups: hydrolysed collagen group (G-1), radiofrequency + hydrolysed collagen group (G-2) and radiofrequency + hydrolysed collagen + electrostimulation group (G-3). The ultrasound analysis of the abdominal muscles showed an increase in muscle thickness in all groups, but not significant (p > 0.05). The histological analysis showed an evident increase in type I collagen in groups G-2 and G-3, with proliferating cells (Ki67+). The results of dynamometry showed significant values in different times (p s a significant result in the infraumbilical perimetry analysis, when compared between the groups with 30 days (p = 0.03) and with 60 days (p = 0.04). All participants rated the treatment positively. The use of combined therapies has shown superior results for the treatment of abdominal and gluteal flaccidity when compared with its isolated use, being the combination of therapies important in the treatment of flaccidity.

Byrsonima intermedia A Juss. is a species with pharmacological properties from the Brazilian Cerrado that shows difficulties related to sexual propagation. Research on cell viability may provide useful information for the selection of cells with embryogenic potential during the callus culture. Within this context, our research is aimed at establishing the cell viability of calli from Byrsonima intermedia leaf segments. The calli went through three subculture phases, of 60 days each, in Ms medium with 0.09 M sucrose, 0.6% agar, pH 5.8 and 4.52 μM 2,4-D. The calli were stored in dark conditions and samples were collected every 10 days from each subculture for viability tests with fluorescein 3,6-diacetate (FDA) and 2,3,5-triphenyltetrazolium chloride (TTC). The staining methods allowed quantifying cell viability in each subculture. The best results from the FDA tests were obtained at 21, 25 and 29 days for the first, second and third subcultures respectively, with 53.86%, 61.88% and 53.73% viable cells. Regarding the TTC test, the largest absorbance values were obtained at 21, 27 and 28 days for the first, second and third subcultures respectively. Fluorescence and spectrophotometry analyses were efficient for determination of cell viability during callus cultivation period.

steatosis recovery after treatment with a balanced sunflower or olive oil-based diet: Involvement of perisinusoidal stellate cells

AIM: To analyze the relationship between perisinusoidal stellate cell (psC) activation and the dietary fat quantity and composition in the treatment of hepatic ***: Using an experimental rat model of steatosis based on the intake of a hyperlipidic diet (14% fat as olive oil or sunflower oil, HL-o and HL-s, respectively), we analyzed the liver's capability of recovery after the treatment with a normal-lipidic diet (5% fat as olive oil or sunflower oil, NL-o and NL-s, respectively) by immunocytochemical and Western blot analysis of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAp) expression in psCs, collagen quantification and serum aminotransferase ***: The fatty infiltration in the steatotic livers decreased after the treatment with both NL diets, indicating liver recovery. This decrease was accompanied with a lower collagen deposition and aminotransferase level as well as changes in the psC population that increased the GFAp expression. The above-mentioned effects were more pronounced in animals fed on NL-o based diet. CoNCLUsIoN: Treatment with a balanced dietenriched in olive oil contributes to the liver recovery from a stea totic process. The psC phenotype is a marker of this hepatic-recovery model.

Early life overfeeding in the rat can be experimentally induced by reducing litter size. This investigation assessed the consequences of this manipulation on glucose metabolism in vivo and in isolated hepatocytes in 150-day old rats. Additionally, after body growth, the effects of caloric restriction and refeeding were tested. Adult rats from control (G9) and reduced litters (G3L) did not differ in body and fat weights, glucose tolerance or insulin resistance (insulin-induced hypoglycemia), or hepatocyte glucose release under basal or gluconeogenic conditions. Caloric restriction (G3R) reduced body and fat weights, decreased glucose decay after insulin injection and decreased hepatocyte gluconeogenic glucose release. Refeeding after caloric restriction reversed these parameters to those of the freely-fed groups (G9 and G3L). Taken together, these results suggest that the liver glucose metabolism is not programmed by lactational overfeeding, but rather is responsive to the current nutritional condition of the animal.

The effects of the supplementation with L-glutamine(GLN)or L-alanyl-L-glutamine(GDp)on the progression of the systemic and hepatic metabolic status of rats having untreated type 1 diabetes mellitus(T1DM)were *** Wistar diabetic rats(streptozotocin,60 mg/kg)were allotted to four groups supplemented by gavage for thirty days as follows:control and diabetic receiving saline;diabetic receiving GLN(248 mg/kg);and diabetic receiving GDp(400 mg/kg).Body weight,plasmatic parameters and kidney function were *** hepatocytes were used to assess gluconeogenic *** and kidney were used for morphological analyses.T1DM decreased the number and increased the area of the hepatocytes,possibly because of the observed enlargement of glycogen *** weight,glomerular area and proteinuria increased,and glomerular filtration rate decreased,in non-supplemented T1DM *** area and proteinuria were reversed by both *** T1DM hepatocytes released less glucose,which could have been diverted to glycogen synthesis and secondary glycogenosis observed in T1DM;this was partially reversed by the *** results point to a possible beneficial effect of glutamine on the metabolic and hepatic impairments of T1DM.
