BACKGROUND Ventriculoperitoneal(VP)shunt placement has become a standard of care procedure in managing hydrocephalus for drainage and absorption of cerebrospinal fluid(CsF)into the peritoneum.Abdominal pseudocyS.S containing CsF are the common long-term complication of this frequently performed procedure,mainly because VP shunts have significantly prolonged survival.Of these,liver CsF pseudocyS.S are rare entities that may cause shunt dysfunction,affect normal organ function,and therefore pose therapeutic challenges.CAsE sUMMARY A 49-year-old man with history of congenital hydrocephaluS.Status post bilateral VP shunt placement presented with progressively worsening dyspnea on exertion,abdominal discomfort/distention.Abdominal computed tomography(CT)scan revealed a large CsF pseudocyst in the right hepatic lobe with the tip of VP shunt catheter into the hepatic cyst cavity.Patient underwent robotic laparoscopic cyst fenestration with a partial hepatectomy,and repositioning of VP shunt catheter to the right lower quadrant of the abdomen.Follow-up CT demonstrated a significant reduction in hepatic CsF pseudocyst.CONCLUsION A high index of clinical S.Spicion is required for early detection of liver CsF pseudocyS.S since their presentation is often asymptomatic and cunning early in the course.Late-stage liver CsF pseudocyS.S could have adverse outcomes on the treatment course of hydrocephalus as well as on hepatobiliary dysfunction.There is paucity of data to define the management of liver CsF pseudocyst in current guidelines due to rare nature of this entity.The reported occurrences have been managed by laparotomy with debridement,paracenteS.S,radiological imaging guided fluid aspiration and laparoscopic-associated cyst fenestration.Robotic surgery is an additional minimally invasive option in the management of hepatic CsF pseudocyst;however,its use is limited by lack of widespread availability and cost of surgery.

Mine or longwall panel layout is a 3D structure with highly non-uniform stress distribution. Recognition of such fact will facilitate underground problem identification/investigation and solving by numerical modeling through proper model construction. Due to its versatility, numerical modeling is the most popular method for ground control design and problem solving. However numerical modeling results require highly experienced professionals to interpret its validity/applicability to actual mining operations due to complicated mining and geological conditions. Underground ground control monitoring is routinely performed to predict roof behavior such as weighting and weighting interval without matching observation of face mining condition while the mining pressures are being monitored, resulting in unrealistic interpretation of the obtained data on mining pressure. The importance of ground control pressure monitoring and simultaneous observation of mining and geological conditions is illustrated by an example of shield leg pressure monitoring and interpretation in an U.s. longwall coal mine: it was found that the roof strata act like a plate, not an individual block of the size of a shield dimension, as commonly assumed by all researchers and shield capacity is not a fixed property for a longwall panel or a mine or a coal seam. A new mechanism on the interaction between shield's hydraulic leg pressure and roof strata for shield loading is proposed.

In this paper,we propose a new linear multiuser receiver for synchronous code-division multiple-access (CDMA) S.Stems,referred to as the orthogonal multiuser(OMU) receiver.Unlike the linear minimum mean-squared error(MMsE) receiver,the OMU receiver depends only on the signature vectors and does not require knowledge of the received amplitudes or the channel signal-to-noise ratio(sNR).Here we develop methods that construct an optimal set of vectors with a specified inner product structure,from a given set of vectors in a complex Hilbert space.The optimal vectors are chosen to minimize the sum of the squared norms of the errors between the constructed vectors and the given vectors.An algorithm has been developed using the principles of quantum parameters and some of its axioms and constraints.In place of the classical matched filter(MF) receiver we propose a modified receiver.This approach assumes that improving the accuracy will necessarily result in im- proved performance.The simulation results provided here suggeS.S that in certain caS.S the OMU and POMU receivers can significantly increase the probability of correct detection with low error rate over the MF receiver.

Neurons and glia are the two major cell types in the nervouS.System and work closely with each other to program neuronal interplay. Traditionally, neurons are thought to be the major cells that actively regulate procesS.S like synapse formation, plasticity, and behavioral output. Glia, on the other hand, serve a more supporting role. To date, accumulating evidence haS.Suggested that glia are active participants in virtually every aspect of neuronal function. Despite this, fundamental features of how glia interact with neurons, and their spatial relationships, remain elusive. Here, we describe the glial cell population in Drosophila adult brains. Glial cells extend and tightly associate their procesS.S with major structureS.Such as the mushroom body（MB）, ellipsoid body（EB）,and antennal lobe（AL） in the brain. Glial cells are distributed in a more concentrated manner in the MB. Furthermore, subsets of glia exhibit distinctive association patterns around different neuronal structures. Whereas procesS.S extended by astrocyte-like glia and ensheathing glia wrap around the MB and infiltrate into the EB and AL, cortex glia stay where cell bodies of neurons are and remain outside of the synaptic regionS.Structured by EB or AL.

Background:Various methods are used in forensic odontology for the purpose of sex and personal identification.some of them include cheiloscopy,rugoscopy,mandibular measurements,and study of paranasal sinuS.S.In our study,we have used maxillary sinus as an aid in sex identification.For this purpose,we have evaluated the morphometric and volumetric measurements of the maxillary sinus using a 3-Dimensional imaging modality,Cone Beam Computed Tomography.Aims and ObjectiveS.Sex and age identification are important in the process of identification of both the living and the dead.Hence,this transverse retrospective study was done to appraise the precision of the dimensions and volume of the maxillary sinus to aid in sex and age identification.Material and Methods:Eighty full Field of View(FOV)Cone-Beam Computed Tomography(CBCT)images were retrieved from the archives which were matched with age and sex.The maxillary sinuS.S on either side were measured mediolaterally in the axial section and supero-inferiorly in the coronal section.The volumetric analyS.S of the sinus was done in the sagittal section.The sex was classified using discriminant function analyS.S and the differences were compared using independent t-test.The differences with age were analyzed using one-way ANOVA.Results:Independent t-test was done for comparison of the sinuS.S between both sexes.Maxillary sinuS.S measurements were larger among the males both superior-inferiorly on either side(Pshowed statistically significant values.A significant correlation existed while comparing the maxillary sinus volume among both the sexes on either side(Pse of right and left respectively).On comparing the supero-inferior and mediolateral measurements and the maxillary sinus volume on either side among the various age groups,the values were statistically insignificant.Present study shows that the maxillary sinus measurements using Cone-beam computed tomography were diagnostic in the identification

Objective:Baccalaureate degree curricula conS.St of several professional values required for nursing students,which are taught in many ways.ThiS.Study aimed to explore the perception of baccalaureate Jordanian nursing students regarding professional values and to asS.Ss the relationship between students’demographics and their perception of professional values.Methods:The study design was a descriptive,crosS.Sectional correlational design.A convenience sample of 182 Jordanian undergraduate nursing students enrolled at one of the most prominent universities in Jordan who completed and submitted a self-administered NurS.S’Professional ValueS.Scale(NPVs)was considered for thiS.Study.Results:The NPVs total score ranged from 37 to 130,with a relatively high total score mean(99.68 with a mean of 3.83 out of 5).The highest score domain in NPVs was“Justice”with a mean of 3.97,while the lowest ranked domain was“Activism”with a mean of 3.69.The correlation coefficient showed no statistically significant correlation between age nor accumulative students’average with a total score of NurS.S Professional ValueS.Scale-revised(NPVs-R)and itS.Subdomains.The t test resultS.Showed that gender and type of students’enrollment(regular vs.upgrading)did not affect the means of NPVs-R and itS.Subdomains.But differences were found to be statistically significant between the means of first year students and fourth year students in the total score of NPVs-R.Conclusions:Findings of the study alert nursing educators to pay more attention to the importance of promoting the values related to“activism”and“professionalism”among nursing studentS.Suggestions for enhancing the roles of peer supervision and providing peer review to colleagues would contribute to improving nursing students’performance and raising self-awareness because when nursing educators pay more attention to the items of these domains,better future nursing professionals,leaders,and researchers can be gained.Also,understanding nursing students’perceptions of the importance of prof

Objective: To evaluate the potential of smallanthuS.SonchifoliuS.S. sonchifolius) roots in ameliorating hepatic damage of rats fed with a high fructose diet.Methods: The effect of s. sonchifolius roots on energy intake, body weight, fat and liver mass was determined in male rats fed with a high-fructose diet. Plasma glucose, triglycerides, total cholesterol, lipoproteins and aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase were analyzed. Histological changes of the livers were evaluated by electronic microscopy and apoptoS.S was examined using the TUNEL method. The levels of malondialdehyde, reducedglutathione and antioxidant enzymes(catalase, superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase, glutathione s-transferase) activities were also determined.Results: s. sonchifolius rootS.Significantly decreased energy intake, body weight, fat and liver mass(P s. sonchifolius roots ameliorated liver steatoS.S and mitochondrial morphology, avoiding cellular apoptoS.S and normalizing transaminase activity in the liver of rats fed with high fructose. Enzymatic assays revealed that s. sonchifolius roots had a modulatory effect on the oxidative stress induced by fructose-feeding by reducing lipid peroxidation(P s(P sions: s. sonchifolius roots can ameliorate non-alcoholic fatty liver disease by improving oxidative stress and liver injury.

In thiS.Study,a stable and robust interface-capturing method is developed to resolve inviscid,compressible two-fluid flows with general equation of state(EOs).The governing equations conS.St of mass conservation equation for each fluid,momentum and energy equations for mixture and an advection equation for volume fraction of one fluid component.Assumption of pressure equilibrium across an interface is used to close the model S.Stem.MUsCL-Hancock scheme is extended to construct input states for Riemann problems,whose solutions are calculated using generalized HLLC approximate Riemann solver.Adaptive mesh refinement(AMR)capability is built into hydrodynamic code.The resulting method haS.Some advantages.First,it is very stable and robust,as the advection equation is handled properly.second,general equation of state can model more materials than simple EOsS.Such as ideal and stiffened gas EOss for example.In addition,AMR enables us to properly resolve flow features at disparate scales.Finally,this method is quite simple,time-efficient and easy to implement.
