This study focuses on the impact of climate change, specifically the increasing threat of heatwaves, in Pakistan, with a particular emphasis on the city of Karachi. The Pakistan meteorological Department (PmD) analysed a century of climatic data to reveal warming trends, attributing them to human-induced factors. The vulnerability of Pakistan to climate change is highlighted, given its warm climate and location in a region where temperature increases are expected to surpass global averages. The study examines the past three decades, noting a significant rise in the frequency of hot days, especially in Karachi, where heatwaves have become more prevalent. The aims and objectives of the study involve identifying temporal changes in temperature, rainfall, humidity, and wind speed from 1984 to 2014 in Karachi. The literature review emphasizes the health implications of heatwaves, citing increased mortality during such events globally. The study incorporates a comprehensive temporal analysis, addressing gaps in previous research by considering multiple climate indicators responsible for heatwaves. The methodology involves statistical analyses, including linear regression and Pearson correlation, applied to temperature data and urbanization parameters. Results indicate an increasing trend in heat index temperature, with heatwave vulnerability peaking in the last three decades. Heat Index Temperature Anomalies show a clear surge, emphasizing the need for new indices to control critical heat stress conditions. The study concludes that tropical climate variability, particularly heat index, is linked to extreme hot days, urging measures to reduce population vulnerability. The findings underscore the importance of policy strategies, such as integrated coastal zone management, to mitigate the adverse health effects of heatwaves in Karachi’s vulnerable population.

The performance of activated carbon/NiFe_(2)O_(4) magnetic composite to retain heavy metal ions from aqueous solution

A novel magnetic activated carbon composite(AC/NiF) was synthesized by a precipitation method and applied in retention of Cu(Ⅱ),and Zn(Ⅱ) ions from aqueous *** impact of different sorption parameters such as:equilibration time,solution pH value,competing cations and ionic strength on the amount sorbed of Cu(Ⅱ),and Zn(Ⅱ) was *** illustrated that the magnetic composite had retention ability towards both metal ions significantly higher than that of activated carbon(AC).The magnetic composite exhibited an affinity to adsorb Cu(Ⅱ) higher than Zn(Ⅱ) *** maximum sorption capacities(Q_(max)) of the applied magnetic composite(AC/NiF)towards Cu(Ⅱ) and Zn(Ⅱ) were 105.8 and 75.1 mg·g^(-1),*** of Cu(Ⅱ) and Zn(Ⅱ) was proposed to be achieved though an ion exchange and surface adsorption in neutral conditions,while precipitation was believed to be the relevant mechanism in their removal from basic *** kinetic studies showed that sorption process followed the kinetics of pseudo-second-order reactions with rate constant of 3 × 10^(-3) and 2 × 10^(-3) min^(-1)for sorption of Cu(Ⅱ) and Zn(Ⅱ) onto AC/NiF *** of Cu(Ⅱ) slightly decreased with increasing the ionic strength of aqueous solution,using NaCl as a background *** contrast,presence of mn(Ⅱ),mg(Ⅱ)and Co(Ⅱ) in reaction solutions highly depressed the sorption of Cu(Ⅱ) and Zn(Ⅱ) with a competing efficiency followed the order:mg(Ⅱ)> mn(Ⅱ)> Co(Ⅱ).The magnetic composite was rapidly recovered from aqueous solution by an external magnetic field,and effectively regenerated using 0.1 mol L^(-1) HCl and 0.1 mol L^(-1) FeCl_(3) as *** of Cu(Ⅱ) and Zn(Ⅱ) onto the surface of AC/NiF composite occurred via a spontaneous *** thermodynamically favorable process had ΔH~o values of 30.9 kJ·mol^(-1) and 19.7 kJ·mol^(-1),*** results confirm that the magnetic composite can be viewed as a promising novel composite opens new opportunities f

Effect of particle size distribution on magnetic behavior of nanoparticles with uniaxial anisotropy

The effect of particle size distribution on the field and temperature dependence of the hysteresis loop features like coercivity（HC）, remanence（mR）, and blocking temperature（TB） is simulated for an ensemble of single domain ferromagnetic nanoparticles with uniaxial anisotropy. Our simulations are based on the two-state model for T 〈 TB and the metropolis monte-Carlo method for T 〉 TB. It is found that the increase in the grain size significantly enhances HC and TB. The presence of interparticle exchange interaction in the system suppresses HC but causes mRto significantly *** results show that the parameters associated with the particle size distribution（D（d,δ）） such as the mean particle size d and standard-deviation δ play key roles in the magnetic behavior of the system.

The electronic properties（Fermi surface,band structure,and density of states（DOs）） of Al-based alloys Alm3（m=Zr and Cu） and AlCu2Zr are investigated using the first-principles pseudopotential plane wave method within the generalized gradient approximation（GGA）.The structural parameters and elastic constants are evaluated and compared with other available ***,the pressure dependences of mechanical properties of the compounds are *** temperature dependence of adiabatic bulk modulus,Debye temperature,specific heat,thermal expansion coefficient,entropy,and internal energy are all obtained for the first time through quasi-harmonic Debye model with phononic effects for T = 0 K-100 *** parameters of optical properties（dielectric functions,refractive index,extinction coefficient,absorption spectrum,conductivity,energy-loss spectrum,and reflectivity） of the compounds are calculated and discussed for the first *** reflectivities of the materials are quite high in the IR-visible-UV region up to ~ 15 eV,showing that they promise to be good coating materials to avoid solar *** of the properties are also compared with those of the Al-based Ni3 Al compound.

Bright, periodic, compacton and bell-shape soliton solutions of the extended QZK and (3+1)-dimensional ZK equations

The(3+1)-dimensional Zakharov–Kuznetsov(ZK) and the new extended quantum ZK equations are functional to decipher the dense quantum plasma, ion-acoustic waves, electron thermal energy,ion plasma, quantum acoustic waves, and quantum Langmuir waves. The enhanced modified simple equation(EmsE) method is a substantial approach to determine competent solutions and in this article, we have constructed standard, illustrative, rich structured and further comprehensive soliton solutions via this method. The solutions are ascertained as the integration of exponential, hyperbolic,trigonometric and rational functions and formulate the bright solitons, periodic, compacton, bellshape, parabolic shape, singular periodic, plane shape and some new type of solitons. It is worth noting that the wave profile varies as the physical and subsidiary parameters change. The standard and advanced soliton solutions may be useful to assist in describing the physical phenomena previously mentioned. To open out the inward structure of the tangible incidents, we have portrayed the three-dimensional, contour plot, and two-dimensional graphs for different parametric values. The attained results demonstrate the EmsE technique for extracting soliton solutions to nonlinear evolution equations is efficient, compatible and reliable in nonlinear science and engineering.

Wheat grain yield and nitrogen uptake prediction using atLeaf and Greenseeker portable optical sensors at jointing growth stage

Rapid acquisition of information about nitrogen(N)uptake and grain yield is an essential step in making site-specific in-season fertilizer N management *** objective of this study was to quantify and validate the relationships between N uptake and grain yield of wheat using in-season measurements with atLeaf chlorophyll meter and Greenseeker optical sensor at Feekes 6 growth stage(jointing stage)of *** relationships were developed using data generated from experiments with multi-rate fertilizer N treatments and conducted in two consecutive wheat seasons(2017/2018 and 2018/2019)at two locations in the western Nile Delta of Egypt.A power function based on atLeaf measurement at Feekes 6 stage of wheat could explain 55.3%and 53.3%variations in the N uptake at this stage and grain yield at maturity,*** with Greenseeker were related with N uptake and yield of wheat through exponential function and could explain 68.5%and 60.6%of the variation in N uptake and grain yield,*** developed models were validated on an independent data set from another field experiment on *** normalized root mean square error for the relation between atLeaf measurements and N uptake and grain yield were fair,whereas the fits were good for measurements with *** study reveals that atLeaf chlorophyll meter and Greenseeker optical sensor can be successfully used for establishing site-specific N management strategies in wheat.

In this study,a mathematical model is formulated to examine the blood flow through a cylindrical stenosed blood *** stenosis disease is caused because of the abnormal narrowing of flow in the *** narrowing causes serious health issues like heart attack and may decrease blood flow in the blood *** modeling helps us analyze such issues.A mathematical model is considered in this study to explore the blood flow in a stenosis artery and is solved numerically with the finite difference *** artery is an elastic cylindrical tube containing blood defined as a viscoelastic fluid.A complete parametric analysis has been done for the flow velocity to clarify the applicability of the defined ***,the flow characteristics such as the impedance,the wall shear stress in the stenotic region,the shear stresses in the throat of the stenosis and at the critical stenosis height are *** obtained results show that the intensity of the stenosis occurs mostly at the highest narrowing areas compared with all other areas of the vessel,which has a direct impact on the wall shear *** is also observed that the resistive impedance and wall shear pressure get the maximum values at the critical height of the stenosis.

Interactions of ion acoustic multi-soliton and rogue wave with Bohm quantum potential in degenerate plasma

This work investigates the interactions among solitons and their consequences in the production of rogue waves in an unmagnetized plasmas composing non-relativistic as well as relativistic degenerate electrons and positrons, and inertial non-relativistic helium ions. The extended Poincare′–Lighthill–Kuo（PLK） method is employed to derive the two-sided Korteweg–de Vries（KdV） equations with their corresponding phase shifts. The nonlinear schrodinger equation（NLsE） is obtained from the modified Kd V（mKdV） equation, which allows one to study the properties of the rogue waves. It is found that the Fermi temperature and quantum mechanical effects become pronounced due to the quantum diffraction of electrons and positrons in the plasmas. The densities and temperatures of the helium ions, degenerate electrons and positrons, and quantum parameters strongly modify the electrostatic ion acoustic resonances and their corresponding phase shifts due to the interactions among solitons and produce rogue waves in the plasma.

Newtonian heating in stagnation point flow of Burgers fluid

The Newtonian heating effects in the stagnation point flow of a Burgers fluid are addressed in this paper. The boundary layer flow problems are stated in the spatial domain from zero to infinity. The solution expressions for the velocity and the temperature are obtained and examined for the influential variables. The tabulated values show comparison with the previous results. It is observed that the obtained results are in good agreement with the existing results in limiting sense.
