Energy loss at bends in the pneumatic conveying of fly ash

An accurate estimation of the total pressure drop of a pipeline is important to the reliable design of a pneumatic conveying system. The present paper presents results from an investigation into the modelling of the pressure drop at a bend in the pneumatic conveying of fly ash. seven existing bend models were used （in conjunction with solids friction models for horizontal and vertical straight pipes, and initial acceleration losses） to predict the total pipeline pressure drop in conveying fly ash （median particle diameter： 30 }zm; particle density： 2300 kg/m^3; loose-poured bulk density： 700 kg/m3） in three test rigs （pipelines with dimensions of 69 mm inner diameter （I.d.） × 168 m length; 105 mm I.d. × 168 m length; 69 mm I.d. × 554 m length）. A comparison of the pneumatic conveying characteristics （PCC） predicted using the seven bend models and experimental results shows that the predicted total pipeline PCC and trends depend on the choice of bend model. While some models predict trends that agree with the experimental results, other models predicted greater bend pressure drops for the dense phase of fly ash than for the dilute phase. In this present paper,we study the entanglement dynamics in qubit A-qutrit B pair under x component of dzyaloshinshkii-Moriya interaction(d_x)by taking an auxiliary qubit ***,we consider an entangled qubit-qutrit pair initially prepared in two parameter qubit-qutrit states and one auxiliary qubit prepared in pure state interacts with the qutrit of the pair through dM *** trace away the auxiliary qubit and calculate the reduced dynamics in qubit A-qutrit B pair to study the influence of the state of auxiliary qubit C and d_x on *** find that the state(probability amplitude)of auxiliary qubit does not influence the entanglement,only d_x influences the *** phenomenon of entanglement sudden death(Esd)induced by d_x has also been *** also present the affected and unaffected two parameter qubit-qutrit states by d_x.

Effects of combined drug therapy on HIV-1 infection dynamics

Infection of human immunodeficiency virus （HIV） is determined through the decay of healthy Cd44- T-cells in a well-mixed compartment, such as a bloodstream. A mathe- matical model is considered to illustrate the effects of combined drug therapy, i.e. reverse transcription plus protease inhibitor, on viral growth and T-cell population dynamics. This model is used to explain the existence and stability of infected and uninfected steady states in HIV growth. An analytical technique, called variational iteration method （VIM）, is used to solve the mathematical model. This method is modified to obtain the rapidly convergent successive approximations of the exact solution. These approximations are obtained without any restrictions or the transformations that may change the physical behavior of the problem. Numerical simulations are computed and exhibited to illustrate the effects of proposed drug therapy on the growth or decay of infection.

Biosorption of Ni(Ⅱ) ions from aqueous solution using modified Aloe barbadensis Miller leaf powder

This study aimed to investigate the biosorption potential of Na2CO3-modified Aloe barbadensis Miller (Aloe vera) leaf (MABL) powder for removal of Ni(II) ions from a synthetic aqueous solution. Effects of various process parameters (pH, equilibrium time, and temperature) were investigated in order to optimize the biosorptive removal. The maximum biosorption capacity of MABL was observed to be 28.986 mg/g at a temperature of 303 K, a biosorbent dose of 0.6 g, a contact time of 90 min, and a pH value of 7. different kinetic models (the pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order, Elovich, and intraparticle diffusion models) were evaluated. The pseudo-second-order kinetic model was found to be the best fitted model in this study, with a coefficient of determination of R^2 =0.974. Five different isotherm models (the Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin, dubinin-Radushkevich, and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) models) were investigated to identify the best-suited isotherm model for the present system. Based on the minimum chi-square value (X^2 =0.027) and the maximum coefficient of determination (R^2 =0.996), the Langmuir isotherm model was found to represent the system well, indicating the possibility of monolayer biosorption. The sticking probability (s*) was found to be 0.41, suggesting a physisorption mechanism for biosorption of Ni(II) on MABL. The biosorbent was characterized using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (sEM), zeta potential, and BET surface area, in order to understand its morphological and functional characteristics.

development of Palmprint Verification system Using Biometrics

Palmprint verification system using Biometrics is one of the emerging technologies, which recognizes a person based on the principle lines, wrinkles and ridges on the surface of the palm. These line structures are stable and remain unchanged throughout the life of an individual. More importantly, no two palmprints from different individuals are the same, and normally people do not feel uneasy to have their palmprint images taken for testing. Therefore palmprint recognition offers a promising future for medium-security access control systems. In this paper, a new approach for personal authentication using hand images is discussed. Gray-scale palm images are captured using a digital camera at a resolution of 640×480. Each of these gray-scale images is aligned and then used to extract palmprint and hand geometry features. These features are then used for authenticating users. The image acquisition setup used here is inherently simple and it does not employ any special illumination nor does it use any pegs that might cause any inconvenience to users. Experimental results show that the designed system achieves an acceptable level of performance.

Effect of substrate and Annealing Temperatures on Mechanical Properties of Ti-rich NiTi Films

The effect of substrate and annealing temperatures on mechanical properties of Ti-rich NiTi films deposited on si （100） substrates by dC magnetron sputtering was studied by *** films were deposited at two substrate temperatures viz.300 and 400 ℃.NiTi films deposited at 300 ℃ were annealed for 4 h at four different temperatures,i.e.300,400,500 and 600 C whereas films deposited at 400 ℃ were annealed for 4 h at three different temperatures,i.e.400,500 and 600 ℃.The elastic modulus and hardness of the films were found to be the same in the as-deposited as well as annealed conditions for both substrate *** a given substrate temperature,the hardness and elastic modulus were found to remain unchanged as long as the films were ***,both elastic modulus and hardness showed an increase with increasing annealing temperature as the films become *** results were explained on the basis of the change in microstructure of the film with change in annealing temperature.

Theoretical study of screening dependence of Aluminium doped MgB_2

The screening dependence of superconducting state parameters （λ, μ＊, Tc, α and NoV） of six alloys of aluminium doped MgB2 systems are studied in the BCs-Eliashberg-MeMillan framework by employing five forms of dielectric screening function, viz. random phase approximation （RPA）, Harrison, Geldart and Vosko （GV）, Hubbard and Overhauser in conjunction with Ashcroft＇s potential. It is observed that electron-phonon coupling strength and Coulomb pseudopotential μ＊ are quite sensitive to the form of dielectric screening, whereas transition temperature Tc, isotope effect exponent α and effective interaction strength NoV show weak dependence on the form of dielectric screening function. It is found that the RPA form of dielectric screening function yields the best results for transition temperature Tc for all alloys of the Mg-Al-B system. The results obtained using GV screening are much higher than the experimental results. This shows that all the four dielectric screenings used here almost describe superconductivity in all the alloys of the Mg-Al-B system, but the GV screening is not suitable for such an alloy system.
