Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)and type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)are two disease conditions for which obesity is a risk factor.^(1)Due to the close relationship between the three pathologies,researchers frequently use the same mouse models to identify the underlying processes of obesity,NAFLD,and *** instance,leptin(Lep)-null(ob/ob)and leptin receptor(Lepr)-deficient(db/db)mice spontaneously develop NAFLD and show different phenotypes of extreme obesity and diabetes,respectively.

Two well-preserved petrified palm stems from the latest Maastrichtian(Late Cretaceous) to earliest Danian(Early Paleocene) sediments of the Deccan Intertrappean Beds of Madhya Pradesh, Central India are described. Their significant anatomical characteristics include a Calamus-type general stem pattern,the presence of well-preserved fibrovascular bundles(fvbs) with two wide metaxylem vessel elements(230 μm-250 μm) and one phloem strand, uniform density of fvbs, lack of continuity between protoxylem and metaxylem vessel elements, and an absence of centrifugal differentiation of sclerenchymatous fibrous *** features reveal a close resemblance to those of extant genera of scandent Calamoideae. The permineralized stems are described as a new species namely, Palmoxylon calamoides kumar, Roy et khan sp. *** fossils represent the oldest reliable fossil records of this family, supporting their Gondwanan origin, their importance in tracing their migration pathways from India to Europe and other continents after the docking of the Indian subcontinent with Eurasia during the Paleocene, and an “Out-of-India” dispersal hypothesis. Today the subfamily Calamoideae is disjunctly occurred in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, and south America, but the poor deep-time fossil record of this subfamily with a small number of Cenozoic fossils makes hypotheses concerning its origin and dispersal difficult to evaluate. The present study has significant implications for the origin and migration of this subfamily and the paleoclimate.

During the decommissioning of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant,it is important to consider the retrieval of resolidified debris both in air and underwater *** the subsequent retrieval of debris from the reactor building,the resolidified debris must be cut into smaller pieces using various cutting *** the cutting process,aerosol particles are expected to be generated at the submicron *** has been noted that such aerosols sizing within the Greenfield gap(0.1-1μm)are difficult to remove effectively using traditional spraying ***,to improve the aerosol removal efficiency of the spray system,a new aerosol agglomeration method was recently proposed,which involves injecting water mist to enlarge the sizes of the aerosol particles before removing them using water *** this study,a series of experiments were performed to clarify the proper spray configurations for effective aerosol scavenging and to improve the performance of the water *** experimental results showed that the spray flow rate and droplet characteristics are important factors for the aerosol-scavenging efficiency and performance of the water *** results obtained from this study will be helpful for the optimization of the spray system design for effective aerosol scavenging during the decommissioning of the Fukushima Daiichi plant.

Forest resources play a vital role in supporting the livelihoods of rural communities residing in forest-rich *** India,a forest-rich country,a significant proportion of non-timber forest products(NTFPs)is consumed locally,supporting numerous rural communities relying on forests for essential resources,such as firewood,timber,and *** study focuses on two forest-dominant districts in West Bengal of India,namely,Jhargram District and Paschim Medinipur ***,this study aims to enhance the understanding of forest-dependent communities by comparing the standard of living among different village ***,we categorized villages into three classes based on the distance from home to forests,including inner villages,fringe villages,and outer *** focus group discussions and household surveys,we explored the sources of local economy,income sources of household,and reasons for economic diversification in different village *** study findings confirm that substantial variations existed in the income sources and the standard of living in these *** income varied dramatically among the three village classes,with inner villages having greater forest income than fringe villages and outer ***,households in outer villages depended on forests and engaged in diverse economic activities for their *** with inner and fringe villages,households in outer villages derived a significant portion of their income from *** discrepancy can be attributed to challenges,such as inadequate transportation,communication,and underdeveloped market chains in inner ***,these findings emphasize the need to develop sustainable forest management practices,create alternative income-generation opportunities,and improve infrastructure and market access in inner villages,as well as promote economic diversification in outer *** targeted policy measures,these forest-rich regions can achi

Background:Palatal rugae are asymmetrical elevations present on hard palate and are significant due to their uniqueness,stability and thus,aid in forensic ***:The objective is to determine palatal rugae morphology between parents and their offsprings and to determine their genetic *** and Methods:This randomized controlled cross-sectional single-blinded study was conducted on 50 families(randomly selected)who visited Vyas Dental College and Hospital.A total of 150 maxillary study models were examined and rugae were delineated and shape,size,and pattern of rugae were ***:Weak but significant correlation was seen in the nonspecific and angular type of palatal rugae between child and mother and child and father as Ps seen for curved,wavy,divergent,straight,horseshoe,angular,and nonspecific type of rugae with the higher%of wavy pattern matching(52%with mother and 54%with father).A considerable number of samples showed high heritability of primary and secondary rugae from both parents,but more predominantly to their mothers(branched,nonspecific,and straight).Conclusion:Both environmental and genetic factors can influence the rugae ***,studies should be conducted on a larger sample size to get more significant results.

In many construction projects,a proactive slope stability evaluation is a *** many deterministic or non-deterministic approaches have been commonly used,metaheuristic approaches have resulted in high precision and significant outcomes for slope stability analysis *** current work focuses on the reliable assessment of critical failure surfaces associated with the least factor of safety value in both homogeneous and non-homogeneous slopes using a new simplified meta-heuristic approach called optics-inspired optimization(OIO).The algorithm utilizes six different LEM methods as a fitness function for deriving the factor of *** analysis over three benchmark studies has been performed to demonstrate the algorithm's robustness and *** implementation found more robust results as compared to previous ***,the algorithm's statistical implication is conducted using the ANOVA test,which inferred better *** this interpretation,the approach claims to be suitable and efficient for slope stability analysis.
