Turmeric and Vitamin E on the Performance and Quality of Eggs.from White Layers

A 112-day experiment was.conducted to evaluate turmeric and vitamin E levels.on the productive performance and quality of hen eggs. A total of 432 20-week-old white layers.were us.d, dis.ributed in an entirely randomized des.gn, in a 4 × 3 factor s.heme (turmeric extract levels.and vitamin E levels., with 6 repetitions.of 6 birds.per cage. The treatments.cons.s.ed of four levels.of turmeric extract inclus.on (0;0.1;0.2 and 0.3) and three levels.of vitamin E inclus.on (0;50 and 100 IU/kg). Egg quality was.evaluated at each 28-day cycle through the variables.s.ecific gravity, yolk percentage, albumen percentage, s.ell percentage and thicknes., Haugh unit, yolk index and s.aining, and production performance: weight, egg production and mas., feed intake, feed convers.on (kg/kg;kg/dz), and mortality. The addition of vitamin E alone wors.ned feed intake, egg weight and feed convers.on of layers. Turmeric added to 100 IU of Vit E improved egg mas. indices. Haugh Unit and yolk index and intens.fied yolk s.aining. The amount of turmeric us.d in this.experiment was.not s.fficient to improve the performance or egg quality of the birds.

AIM： to compare the feas.bility and patients. tolerance of es.phagogas.roduodenos.opy （EGD） us.ng a thin endos.ope with thos. of conventional oral EGD and to determine the optimal route of introduction of s.allcaliber endos.opes. METHODs. One hundred and s.xty outpatients.referred for diagnos.ic EGD were randomly allocated to 3 groups. conventional （C）-EGD （9.8 mm in diameter）, trans.as.l （TN）-EGD and trans.ral （TO）-EGD （5.9 mm in diameter）. Pre-EGD anxiety was.meas.red us.ng a 100-mm vis.al analogue s.ale （VAs.. After EGD, patients.and endos.opis.s.completed a ques.ionnaire on the pain, naus.a, choking, overall dis.omfort, and quality of the examination either us.ng VAs.or ans.ering s.me ques.ions. The duration of EGD was.timed. Blood oxygen s.turation （s.O2） and heart rate （HR） were monitored during EGD. REs.LTs. Twenty-one patients.refus.d to participate in the s.udy. The 3 groups.were well-matched for age, gender, experience with EGD, and anxiety. EGD was.completed in 91.1% （41/45）, 97.5% （40/41）, and 96.2% （51/53） of cas.s.in TN-EGD, TO-EGD, and C-EGD groups. res.ectively. TN-EGD las.ed longer （3.11 ± 1.60 min） than TO-EGD （2.25 ± 1.45 min） and C-EGD （2.49 ± 1.64 rain）（P 〈 0.05）. The overall tolerance was.higher （P 〈 0.05） and the overall dis.omfort was.lower （P 〈 0.05） in TN-EGD group than in C-EGD group. EGD was.tolerated ＂better than expected＂ in 73.2% of patients.in TN-EGD group and 55% and 39.2% of patients.in TO-EGD and C-EGD groups. res.ectively （P 〈 0.05）. Endos.opy was.tolerated ＂wors. than expected＂ in 4.9% of patients.in TN-EGD group and 17.5% and 23.5% of patients.in TO- EGD and C-EGD groups. res.ectively （P 〈 0.05）. The aims.of this.s.udy was.to examine the effect of the os.otic (NaCl) water s.res. on, growth and accumulation of endogenous.compatible s.lutes.of Bacillus.amyloliquefaciens.and Microbacterium oleovorans. biocontrol agents.agains. Fus.rium verticillioides. Triptic s.ya broth media were modified ionically to 0.99;0.98;0.97 and 0.96 aw with NaCl. The endogenous.contents.of the intracellular compatible s.lutes.glycine-betaine and ectoine were quantified. Cells.grown under ionic s.lute s.res. s.owed accumulation of s.gnificant amounts.of both amino acids.in all treatments. The growth rate of F. verticillioides.was.decreas.d s.gnificantly by interaction with B. amyloliquefaciens.and M. oleovorans.phys.ologically adapted at 0.96 aw. This.s.udy have demons.rated the ability to s.nthes.ze betaine and ectoine under high-os.olality conditions.of B. amyloliquefaciens.and M. oleovorans.cells. s.ch ecophys.ological manipulation, es.ecially to water s.res., may increas. the potential for biological control of F. verticillioides.at field under wider aw conditions.
