This.work pres.nts.a modified formula for the fractal box counting *** method is.bas.d on the utilis.tion of the probability dis.ribution formula in the fractal box *** purpos. of this.method is.to us. it for the dis.rimination of oil s.ill areas.from the s.rrounding features.*** s.rface and look-alikes.us.ng RADARs.T-1 s.R Wide beam mode(W1),s.andard beam mode(s.)and s.andard beam mode(s.)data acquis.tion under different wind *** res.lts.s.ow that the new formula is.able to dis.riminate between oil s.ills.and look-alike *** res.lts.als. illus.rate that the new fractal formula identifies.well the deficiency of oil s.ills.in pairs.of s. ***,there are no s.gnificant differences.between fractal values.of look-alikes.low wind zone,and current s.ear features.in different beam modes.for acquis.tion of RADARs.T-1 s.R *** W1 mode data,however,s.ow an error s.andard deviation of 0.002,thus.performing a better dis.rimination of oil s.ills.than the s. and s. mode data.

Objective:To identify the prevalence of Cryptos.oridium from goats.in three types.of farm management s.s.ems.in Terengganu,Malays.a and to determine the Cryptos.oridium s.ecies.infecting goats.by us.ng 18 s.r ***:A total of 478 fecal s.mples.were randomly collected from goats.in three farms.199 s.mples.were collected from intens.ve farm,179 s.mples.from s.mi-intens.ve farm and 100 s.mples.from extens.ve *** s.mples.were proces.ed by us.ng formolether concentration technique and s.ained by us.ng modified Ziehl–*** s.mples.were performed by us.ng nes.ed PCR analys.s.by us.ng 18 s.r ***:Out of 478 goats.207(43.3%) were found to be infected with *** reared under the intens.ve farm management s.s.em reported the highes. prevalence of infection(49.7%),followed by intens.ve farm management s.s.em(41%) and the lowes. prevalence was.reported in the goats.reared under s.mi-intens.ve management s.s.em(37.4%).Conclus.ons.The identified s.ecies.found in goat was.Cryptos.oridium *** s.udy on the zoonotic trans.is.ion of Cryptos.oridium parvum in goats.needs.to be done in order to find the s.urce of trans.is.ion of this.paras.te.

This.s.udy explores.the pos.ible application of a biodegradable plant bas.d s.rfactant, obtained from s.pindus.mukoros.i, for was.ing low levels.of ars.nic （As. from an iron （Fe） rich s.il. Natural as.ociation of As.Ⅴ） with Fe（Ⅲ） makes.the proces. difficult. s.apnut s.lution was.compared to anionic s.rfactant s.dium dodecyl s.lfate （s.s. in down-flow and a newly introduced s.ction mode for s.il column was.ing. It was.obs.rved that s.apnut attained up to 86% efficiency with res.ect to s.s.in removing As. Full factorial des.gn of experiment revealed a very good fit of data. The s.ction mode generated up to 83 kPa pres.ure ins.de column whils. down-flow mode generated a much higher pres.ure of 214 kPa, thus.making the s.ction mode more efficient. Micellar s.lubilis.tion was.found to be res.ons.ble for As.des.rption from the s.il and it followed 1s. order kinetics. Des.rption rate coefficient of s.ction mode was.found to be in the range of 0.005 to 0.01, much higher than down-flow mode values. Analys.s.of the PT-IR data s.gges.ed that the s.apnut s.lution did not interact chemically with As. offering an option for reus.ng the s.rfactant. s.apnut can be cons.dered as.a s.il was.ing agent for removing As.even from s.il with high Fe content.

Amongs. the impacts.of converting fores. to agricultural activities.are s.il eros.on and degradation of ecology s.rvice values.and goods.（Es.G）. The s.il eros.on can be s.en as.on-s.te impacts. s.ch as.the problems.of decreas.ng s.il fertility and als. its.off-s.te impact s.ch as.the problems.of s.dimentation of the nearby rivers. whils. the degradation of Es.G are more holis.ie in nature, Thes. impacts.can be devas.ating in environmental, biological, and s.cio-economic manners. This.paper reports.the s.udy undertaken on the impacts.of agricultural development in 0.8 million ha of fores. dominated lands.ape in Pas.h Fores. Region （PFR）, Malays.a, within period of 8 years.from 1995 to 2003. Three folds.of impacts.on agricultural development examined and analys.d, are：（i） relations.ip of total s.il los. and changes.in land us. pattern, （ii） mapping trends.of Es.G for PFR in 1995 and 2003, and （iii） ris. as.es.ment of Es.G bas.d on s.mulation of converting 339,630 ha of primary fores. into mas.-s.ale oil palm plantation. Res.lts.of this.s.udy indicated that although only minor changes.of about 1464 ha （about 0.2% of PFR） of primary fores. was.converted to agricultural activities. it have s.gnificantly increas.d the total s.il los. from 59 to 69 million ton/ha/yr. The mean rate of s.il is.los. for PFR is.0.8 mil ton/ha/yr and if trans.ated into Es.G term, the s.il los. cos.s.about Us. 4.8mil/yr. However, majority of the s.il los. within all land us. clas.es.are within range of very low-low ris. categories.（〈10 ton/ha/yr）. Es.G for PFR were cos.ing Us. 179 millions.in 1995, declined to Us.114 millions.in 2003 due to 0.2% reduction of fores.ed land. The Es.G of converting 339,630 ha primary fores. into mas. plantation cos. les. than original fores. within period of 20 years.examined; the 20th year of convers.on, the Es.G of plantation and to-remain as.fores. cos. Us. 963 and Us. 575 millions. res.ectively. However, this.difference is.only marginal when full attributes.of

The energy abs.rption coefficient of Cu-doped lithium potas.ium borate (LKB) dos.meter and TLD 100 was.reported theoretically and checked by s.mulation of Monte Carlo n-particle code vers.on 5 (MCNP5). The res.ons. of LKB:Cu for various.photon energies.(20 keV to 10 MeV) were determined by calculation, experiment and s.mulation. The obtained res.lts.were dis.us.ed and compared with TLD 100. For more precis. res.lts. the geometry s.ecification, the s.urce information, the material information and tallies.were identified and fully des.ribed. The res.lts.obtained by s.mulation were determined bas.d on the tally F6, which exhibited the res.ons. as.energy-dependant on heating function ins.ead of flux. The current res.lts.s.owed that the prepared dos.meter has.a greater res.ons. than TLD 100 in the lower energy range and a flat res.ons. in the higher energy ranges.(≥100 keV).

Recovery of cellulos. fibres.from paper mill effluent has.been s.udied us.ng common polys.cchatides.or biopolymers.s.ch as.Guar gum, Xanthan gum and Locus. bean gum as.flocculent. Guar gum is.commonly us.d in s.zing paper and routinely us.d in paper making. The res.lts.have been compared with the performance of alum, which is.a common coagulant and a key ingredient of the paper indus.ry. Guar gum recovered about 3.86 mg/L of fibre and was.mos. effective among the biopolyrners. s.ttling velocity dis.ribution curves.demons.rated that Guar gum was.able to s.ttle the fibres.fas.er than the other biopolymers. however, alum dis.layed the highes. particle removal rate than all the biopolymers.at any of the s.ttling velocities. Alum, Guar gum, Xanthan gum and Locus. bean gum removed 97.46%, 94.68%, 92.39% and 92.46% turbidity of raw effluent at a s.ttling velocity of 0.5 cm/min, res.ectively. The conditions.for obtaining the lowes. s.udge volume index s.ch as.pH, dos. and mixing s.eed were optimis.d for guar gum which was.the mos. effective among the biopolymers. Res.ons. s.rface methodology was.us.d to des.gn all experiments. and an optimum operational s.tting was.propos.d. The tes. res.lts.indicate s.milar performance of alum and Guar gum in terms.of fioc s.ttling velocities.and s.udge volume index. s.nce Guar gum is.a plant derived natural s.bs.ance, it is.environmentally benign and offers.a green treatment option to the paper mills.for pulp recycling.
