In th.s.s.udy, tractor power output, fuel cons.mption rate and work performance were indirectly predicted in order to develop an eco driving s.s.em. Firs.ly, equations.were developed wh.ch.could foretell tractor power output and fuel cons.mption rate us.ng ch.racteris.ic curves.of tractor power output. s.condly, with.actual engine revolution per minute （rpm） determined by initial engine rpm and work load, tractor power output and fuel cons.mption rate were forecas.ed. Th.rdly, it was.pos.ible to fores.e tractor work performance and fuel cons.mption rate by th. s.eed s.gnals.of Global Pos.tioning s.s.em （GPs.. Las.ly, precis.on of th. eco driving s.s.em was.evaluated th.ough.tractor Power Take-Off （PTO） tes., and effects.of th. eco driving s.s.em were inves.igated in th. plowing and rotary tilling operations. Engine rpm, power output, fuel cons.mption rate, work performance and fuel cons.mption rate per plot area were dis.layed on th. eco driving s.s.em. Predicted tractor power outputs.in th. full load curve were well coincided with.th. actual power output of prototype, but s.all differences. 1 to 6 kW were found in th. part load curve. Error of th. fuel cons.mption rate was.0.5 to 3 L/h.at th. part load curve. It was.s.own th.t 69% and 53% of fuel cons.mption rates.could be reduced in plowing and rotary tilling operations. res.ectively, wh.n th. eco driving s.s.em was.ins.alled in tractor.
