A dies.l engine for tractor was.tes.ed for 250 h.urs.of durability with.biodies.l fuel of 100%. An engine tes. cycle was.des.gned bas.d on th. Is. tes. code of off-road veh.cle. Eigh. tes. conditions. combination of th.ee engine s.eeds.and eigh. engine loads. were applied to th. engine endurance tes., and th. engine was.operated for eigh. h.urs.in a day. Power output, fuel cons.mption rate, exh.us. gas.quality and particulate matter (PM) were meas.red and dis.us.ed. For th. extens.ve 250 h.urs.of th. tractor dies.l engine endurance tes. no s.gnificant ch.nges.of power output, fuel cons.mption rate, exh.us. gas.quality and PM were monitored and auth.rs.could not find any difference in th. engine patterns.of th. two fuels.of BDF100 and ligh. oil. During all th. engine endurance tes. conditions. no abrupt s.opping was.encountered but becaus. of temperature down by th. cold s.as.n th. endurance tes. could not carried out for s.me periods. PMs.were collected and th. average PM was.0.027 g/kw wh.ch.was.far below th.n Tier 4 dies.l engine PM of 0.3 g/kw h.defined by Us.EPA PM of th. dies.l engine clas.. Overall even 100% biodies.l can be an alternative fuel for ligh. oil for dies.l engine operation with.s.me cons.derations.for cold s.as.n us..

An As.es.ment of Eco Driving s.s.em for Agricultural Tractor

In th.s.s.udy, tractor power output, fuel cons.mption rate and work performance were indirectly predicted in order to develop an eco driving s.s.em. Firs.ly, equations.were developed wh.ch.could foretell tractor power output and fuel cons.mption rate us.ng ch.racteris.ic curves.of tractor power output. s.condly, with.actual engine revolution per minute (rpm) determined by initial engine rpm and work load, tractor power output and fuel cons.mption rate were forecas.ed. Th.rdly, it was.pos.ible to fores.e tractor work performance and fuel cons.mption rate by th. s.eed s.gnals.of Global Pos.tioning s.s.em (GPs.. Las.ly, precis.on of th. eco driving s.s.em was.evaluated th.ough.tractor Power Take-Off (PTO) tes., and effects.of th. eco driving s.s.em were inves.igated in th. plowing and rotary tilling operations. Engine rpm, power output, fuel cons.mption rate, work performance and fuel cons.mption rate per plot area were dis.layed on th. eco driving s.s.em. Predicted tractor power outputs.in th. full load curve were well coincided with.th. actual power output of prototype, but s.all differences. 1 to 6 kW were found in th. part load curve. Error of th. fuel cons.mption rate was.0.5 to 3 L/h.at th. part load curve. It was.s.own th.t 69% and 53% of fuel cons.mption rates.could be reduced in plowing and rotary tilling operations. res.ectively, wh.n th. eco driving s.s.em was.ins.alled in tractor.
