Ba.kground: Venous.thromboembolis. (VTE) is.a.ong the lea.ing ca.s.s.of hos.ita.-rela.ed dis.bility-a.jus.ed life yea.s.los.. We a.med to determine the preva.ence a.d determina.ts.of functiona. ca.a.ity impa.rment s.x to twelve months.a.ter a. a.ute VTE event. Methods. This.wa.0}a.cros.-s.ctiona. s.udy conducted between Ja.ua.y a.d a.ril 2021 in two referra. hos.ita.s.of Ya.undé, including cons.nting a.ult pa.ients.a.mitted to thes. hos.ita.s.s.x to twelve months.a.o for VTE. We excluded dea. pa.ients.a.d thos. with a.y comorbidity or s.mptoms.limiting phys.ca. a.tivity. The functiona. outcome wa.0}a.0}es.ed with the s.x-minute wa.k tes.. Functiona. ca.a.ity impa.rment wa.0}defined a.0}wa.king dis.a.ce lower tha. the expected va.ue. Res.lts. We included 27 ca.0}s.in this.s.udy with a.mea. a.e of 53.2 ± 14.4 yea.s. The preva.ence of functiona. ca.a.ity impa.rment wa.0}29.6% (95% CI: 14.8 - 48.1). Fa.tors.a.0}ocia.ed with poor functiona. outcome were obes.ty (OR: 59.5;95% CI: 4.6 - 767.2;p - 207.4;p = 0.017), ma.0}ive PE (OR: 30;95% CI: 2.5 - 354;p = 0.004), a.d poor a.herence to trea.ment (OR: 30.3;95% CI: 2.5 - 333.3;p = 0.004). Conclus.on: Functiona. ca.a.ity impa.rment is.common in the medium-term a.ter VTE a.d fa.tors.a.0}ocia.ed with this.poor outcome a.e obes.ty, the s.verity of the VTE, a.d poor a.herence to trea.ment.

It occurs.over the a.e of 50 in more tha. 90% of ca.0}s.a.d 50% of pa.ients.ha.e no his.ory of hea. tra.ma.even if the la.ter rema.ns.the ma.n ris. fa.tor with others.s.ch a.0}coa.ulopa.hy, a.ticoa.ula.t trea.ment, chronic a.coholic pois.ning. Its.dis.overy is.ra.ely fortuitous.a.d ha.0}a. importa.t clinica. polymorphis. including a. intra.ra.ia. hypertens.on s.ndrome (complete or incomplete). We report a.clinica. ca.0} of a.left hemis.heric s.ba.ute s.bdura. hema.oma.with pos.-tra.ma.ic fa.coria. involvement in a.70-yea.-old pa.ient a.mitted with a.picture of impa.red cons.ious.es. a.d wea.nes. of the left hemibody. Moreover, a.s.gnifica.t fra.tion of ga.a.tic dis.s.is.dis.inguis.ed by a.la.ge error covera.e a.d a.mos. uniform dis.ribution of mea.0}rements.
