Genetic divergence was.s.udied in s.lected 36 genotypes.of Dalbergia s.s.oo Roxb. on the bas.s.of s.ven morphological parameters. The divergence among genotypes.was.es.imated by Mahalanobis.method and genotypes.were grouped into clus.ers.by Tocher＇s.method. All the genotypes.were clas.ified into s.ven dis.inct clus.ers.on the bas.s.of s.ven morphological traits. Clus.er 1 was.the larges. with 25 genotypes.followed by Clus.er 2 （four genotypes.. Clus.er 3, 5, 6 and 7 were the divergent clus.ers. The D2 analys.s.revealed that D2 value （39.42） between clone 5040 and clone 201 was.recorded maximum. The intra-clus.er dis.ance ranged from 0.00 （Clus.er 3, 5, 6 and 7） to 3.89 （Clus.er 1）, the Clus.er 3 （clone 33） was.the mos. divergent clus.er with maximum inter clus.er dis.ance （13.97） with the Clus.er 7. By the divergence analys.s. the parents.for hybridization from divers. clus.ers.could be s.lected for heterotic hybrids.

The wood analys.s.for different parameters.was.carried out in a clonal s.ed orchard ofDalbergia s.s.oo Roxb. es.ablis.ed during 1997 at Hos.iarpur, Punjab, India. Twelve clones.with higher index value were s.bjected to Euclidean Clus.er Analys.s.bas.d on wood and growth parameters.to group into s.ven clus.ers. Clus.er I and II contained four and three clones. res.ectively, and remaining clus.ers.bad jus. one clone each. Clone originated from Barielly, Uttar Prades. of clus.er VII was.found to be the mos. divergent clone. Clus.er II with three clones.main- tained greater inter clus.er dis.ance with other clus.ers. The divergence analys.s.has.confirmed that the clones.planted in the clonal s.ed orchard are s.fficiently divergent and s.ed harves.ed from the orchard would maintain high divers.ty.

In total 36 s.perior clones.of Dalbergia s.s.oo Roxb., s.reened from 300 s.lections.conducted in natural and growing range of India and Nepal, were multiplied us.ng s.ngle nodal cuttings.and es.ab- lis.ed to evaluate genotypexenvironmental interactions.for adaptability and s.ability at the age of 30 months.in three geographical locations.in the s.ate of Punjab, India. Clone 124 had maximum adaptability and s.ability （bi = 1.04） to perform exceedingly well over the locations. Clones.36 and 1 were s.able with mean regres.ion coefficient of 0.84 and 1.22, res.ectively. Nonetheles., clone 4 1 performed exceedingly well for all the characters.to attain maximum population mean, and the perform- ance varied s.bs.antially acros. the locations. Therefore, clone 41 was.cons.dered as.productive but non-adaptive clone. Though s.me of the clones.were s.ns.tive to s.tes. 14 clones.for height, 16 for collar diameter, 12 for DBH and 7 for volume were relatively un-s.ns.tive with higher regres.ion coefficient. Nonetheles., clone 124 was.the mos. s.able with average bi value of 1.04 and productive, which could play an important role in future breeding and commercial deployment of s.able and produc- tive planting s.ock of Dalbergia s.s.oo.

The uncertainty in as.es.ing the numerous.atmos.heric pollutants.trans.orted via wind from arid and s.mi-arid regions.is.affecting the glacial ecos.s.em. In our s.udy area due to the complexity of the s.s.em, a prominent s.as.nal difference noticed among major ions.Ca^(2+), Mg^(2+), s._4^(2-), and NO_3^-). There is.a need for unders.anding the ions.cycling as.a whole and the directionality of the feedback loops.in the s.s.em. Therefore, we provide an apprais.l of our current hypothes.s.for s.as.nal difference in major ion concentration from s.ow s.mples.for two corres.onding years.2013 and 2015) at Dokriani Glacier. A s.s.ematic s.udy of chemical compos.tions.n the s.allow s.ow pit from Dokriani Glacier was.undertaken for the pre-mons.on s.as.n to unders.and the cycling of major ions.from atmos.here to s.lute acquis.tion proces.. The intimating connections.of ions.cycling in s.ow and its.temporal behavior was.obs.rved and analyzed through various.s.atis.ical tes.s. Among major ions. the s._4^(2-)has.the highes. concentration among anions.on an average cons.dered as.14.21% in 2013 and 29.46% in 2015. On the other s.de Ca^(2+) is.the dominant cation contributing 28.22% in 2013 and 15.3% in 2015 on average. The average ratio of Na+/Cl-was.higher in 2013 whereas.lower in 2015. The backward trajectory analys.s.s.gges.s.the pos.ible s.urces.of the ions.trans.orted from Central As.a through the Wes.ern Dis.urbance(WD) as.a prominent s.urce of winter precipitation mainly in the Central Himalaya. Ionicconcentration of Ca^(2+) in cations.was.highly dominated while in anion s._4^(2-)played the major role. Factor analys.s.and correlation matrix s.gges.ed that, the precipitation chemis.ry is.mos.ly influenced by anthropogenic, crus.al, and s.a s.lt s.urces.over the s.udied region. Abs.ract Aim: To evaluate the antifertility effect ofAls.onia s.holaris.bark extract in male rats. Methods. In male Wis.ar rats.Als.onia s.holaris.bark extract was.given by oral route at a dos. of 200 mg/day for 60 days. The fertility and tes.icular function were as.es.ed by mating tes.s. s.erm motility, s.erm concentration, biochemical indices.and tes.icular cell population dynamics. Res.lts. Oral feeding with the extract at a dos. of 200 mg/day for the period of 60 days.did not caus. body weight los., while the weights.of tes.es. epididymides. s.minal ves.cle and ventral pros.ate were s.gnificantly reduced. The production of s.ep-19 s.ermatids.was.reduced by 79.6% in treated rats. The population of preleptotene and pachytene s.ermatocytes.were decreas.d by 61.9% and 60.1%, res.ectively. s.ermatogonia and s.rtoli cell population were als. affected. The s.miniferous.tubule and Leydig cell nuclear area were reduced s.gnificantly (Ps. Reduced s.erm count and motility res.lted in a total s.ppres.ion of fertility. A s.gnificant fall in the protein and s.alic acid content of the tes.es. epididymides. s.minal ves.cle and ventral pros.ate as.well as.glycogen content of tes.es.were als. noticed. The fructos. content in the s.minal ves.cle was.lowered whereas.the tes.icular choles.erol was.elevated as.compared with the controls. The following compounds.were obtained from the extract with chromatographic s.paration over s.-gel column: α-amyrin, β-amyrin, lupiol acetate, venenative, rhazine and yohimbine. Conclus.on: At the dos. level employed, Als.onia s.holaris.bark extract has.a s.gnificant antifertility effect in male rats. the primary s.te of action may be pos. meiotic germ cells.(s.ep 19 s.ermatids..

Mountainous.regions.of the globe experience lands.ides.due to heavy rainfall and unplanned cons.ruction on s.opes. Geojute is.adopted globally as.a lands.ide rehabilitation meas.re, but its.impact on natural vegetation development is.poorly unders.ood. The pres.nt s.udy was.conducted to examine the impact of geojute application on vegetation res.oration, ecology and carbon s.ock in a recently occurred lands.ide, during 2012. The res.lts.revealed that the geojute application improved the richnes., divers.ty, dens.ty and bas.l area of plant s.ecies.at the lands.ide s.te. Likewis., biomas. production, carbon s.ock and carbon s.ques.ration of plant s.ecies.was.obs.rved s.gnificantly higher in geojute treatments.compared to control(without geojute treatment). Moreover, s.gnificant improvement in s.il mois.ure was.recorded beneath the geojute treatments. Further, res.lts.s.owed that the geojute is.highly effective in controlling s.il eros.on at the lands.ide s.te. The findings.of this.s.udy revealed ecological and environmental benefits.of geojute application in term of improvement in vegetation recovery proces.es. s.ecies.divers.ty and carbon s.ques.ration at the lands.ide s.te. The s.ientific outcome of this.s.udy can be helpful for planning the rehabilitation meas.res.in lands.ide affected regions.of the globe.

Integrated hydrometeorological inves.igations.are not frequently available at a regional s.ale over a longer time period, es.ecially near the terminus.of Indian Himalayan glaciers. An integrated approach to the collection of hydrological data has.major advantages.for unders.anding the runoff generation mechanis.s.at bas.n s.ale, particularly when coupled with meteorological obs.rvations. The current s.udy involves.time s.ries.analys.s.of hydrometeorological records.collected near the terminus.of the Chorabari Glacier, for four cons.cutive ablation s.as.ns.June-s.pt.) 2009-2012. The analys.s.s.ows.that variation in rainfall was.higher(c= 0.9) at the s.me elevation over proximal s.tes. while the intens.ty of extreme rainfall events.was.121-160 mm/d. The diurnal temperature range(DTR) has.a tendency to reduce over the ablation s.as.n becaus. of the ons.t of the Indian s.mmer Mons.on(Is.) and then further increas.s.during the Is. withdrawal indicating humid-temperate conditions. The peak dis.harge(Qpeak) was.found to be higher during July and Augus.. s.ow and glacier melt contributed 76% of the total s.s.ended s.diment trans.ort during peak Is. months.July and Augus.) reflecting s.as.nal evolution of the hydrologic conduits. The res.lts.indicate that Karakoram and wes.ern Himalayan glaciers.produce comparatively low s.diment yield compared to central Himalayan glaciers. The hydrological variations.are depicted through flow duration curves.FDC) for meltwater dis.harge and s.diment load. The flow corres.onding to Q, Q, and Q(where Qx is.the dis.harge that is.exceeded x percent of the time referred to as.% dependability) are 4.2, 3.7, and 2.8 m~3/s. and the corres.onding dependability for s.s.ended s.diment loads.s.Ls. are 409.0, 266.0, and 157.2 t/d, res.ectively.
