The important enhancement in the structural,dielectric and optical properties of pure polymer and Cdse incorporated polyvinyl pyrrolidone has been reported in this *** surface morphology of Cdse/PVP nanocomposite film is studied by using scanning electron microscopy(sEM).The chemical composition of different elements has been reported using energy dispersive X-ray(EDX)*** structure of polymer nanocomposite is determined with the help of X-ray diffraction(XRD)spectrum and is observed to be *** size,intercrystalline separation,interplanner spacing,lattice parameters,strain and dislocation factors are calculated using XRD *** transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)and Photoluminescence(PL)analysis have been studied in order to check the possible interaction between Cdse quantum dots and polyvinyl pyrrolidone(PVP)*** ac conductivity of Cdse/PVP nanocomposite is found to be higher as compared to pure *** highest value of conductivity observed at 60203 Hz and at 523 K is found to be 3:72105 sm*** study of dielectric constant,dielectric losses,dissipation factor,electric modulus and impedance has been *** semi-circles in impedance measurement for both materials show the bulk electrical properties that result in single relaxation process in Cdse/PVP nanocomposite.

Aspartame, a ＂first generation sweetener＂, is widely used in a variety of foods, beverages, and medicine. The FDA has determined the acceptable daily intake （ADI） value of aspartame to be 50 mg/kg, day, while the JECFA （Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives） has set this value at 40 mg/kg of body weight/day. safety issues have been raised about aspartame due to its metabolites, specifically toxicity from methanol and/or its systemic metabolites formaldehyde and formic acid. The immune system is now recognized as a target organ for many xenobiotics, such as drugs and chemicals, which are able to trigger unwanted apoptosis or to alter the regulation of apoptosis. Our previous studies has shown that oral administration of aspartame [40 mg/（kg, day）] or its metabolites for 90 days increased oxidative stress in immune organs of Wistar albino rats. In this present study, we aimed to clarify whether aspartame consumption over a longer period （90-days） has any effect on the expression ofhsp70, bcl- 2 and bax at both mRNA transcript and protein expression levels in immune organs. We observed that oral administration of aspartame for 90 days did not cause any apparent DNA fragmentation in immune organs of aspartame treated animals; however, there was a significant increase in hsp70 expression, apart from significant alteration in bcl-2 and bax at both mRNA transcript and protein expression level in the immune organs of aspartame treated animals compared to controls. Hence, the results indicated that hsp70 levels increased in response to oxidative injury induced by aspartame metabolites; however, these metabolites did not induce apoptosis in the immune organs. Furthermore, detailed analyses are needed to elucidate the precise molecular mechanisms involved in these changes.

Thirty-six polyurethane foam disk passive air samplers （PUF-PAs） were deployed over a year during January to December, 2009 at three locations, i.e., Imphal （urban site）, Thoubal （rural site） and Waithou （alpine site） of Manipur, to assess the seasonal local atmospheric emission of selected organochlorine pesticides （OCPs）. The average concentration of HCHs monitored at mountain site during hot season （Mar, Apr, and May） and rainy seasons （Jun, Jul, Aug, and sep） were 403 and 349 pg/m3, respectively. DDTs had a high concentration with 384 pg/m3 at rural site and 379 pg/m3 at urban site during hot seasons. Endosulfans and chlordane were found high in concentration during hot seasons （260 pg/m3） and low during retreating monsoon seasons （44 pg/m3） at rural site. Most of the OCPs concentrations were high during cultivation period. The OCP concentrations of rainy season were highly correlated （p 〈 0.01） with OCPs of hot seasons. Further, positive correlation （p 〈 0.05） was also obtained between cold seasons and retreating monsoon. Principal component analysis showed a significant correlation among the four seasons and distribution pattern of OCPs in air. Back trajectory analysis by using HYPsLIT model showed a long range air transport of OCPs to the present study area. Present OCP levels at Manipur is an outcome of both local emission and also movement of air mass by long range atmospheric transport.

Novel synthesis and characterization of CuO nanomaterials:Biological applications

CuO nanoparticles were synthesized at a relatively low temperature（80 ℃） for 2 h using polyethylene glycol-glycerol mixture which acts as a capping agent.A detailed characterization of the synthesized nanomaterials were performed utilizing X-ray diffraction（XRD）,infra-red spectroscopy（IR）,thermogravimetric analysis（TGA-DTA）,transmission electron microscopy（TEM）,photoluminescence（PL） by studying its crystalline phase,vibrational mode,thermal analysis,morphology and photoluminescence *** effect of annealing on the as-prepared nanoparticles were studied and compared with their corresponding bulk *** synthesized nanoparticles have been screened for in vitro cytotoxicity（1C_（50）） studies against the human cervical adenocarcinoma cell line（HeLa） using WITT assay *** as-prepared nanoparticle inhibits the proliferation of this HeLa *** standard disc diffusion method has been used to study the antibacterial activity of the samples against the human pathogenic bacteria Escherichia coli（MTCC 729）,Proteus mirabilis（MTCC 425） and Klebsiella pneumoniae ***（MTCC 432）.The results have been compared with the positive control antibiotic *** synthesized nanoparticles would provide a potential alternative to antibiotics for controlling some of the microorganisms causing urolithiasis.

AIM: Although epidemiological and experimental studies validate influence of genetic, environmental and dietary factors in the causation of various types of cancers including colon, results from all these sources are inconclusive. Hypothesizing that high fat diet and obesity are among the major predisposing factors in the incidence of colon cancer, we evaluated the role of diet constituted with food material derived from a tropical plant, Tamarindus indica Linn (TI). METHODs: A two part randomized double-blind study was conducted employing inbred swiss albino mice from a single generation for the whole investigation. One day-old neonates (n=12) were subcutaneously administered with monosodium glutamate (MsG) to induce obesity (OB). At weaning these animals were maintained on modified AIN-76 diet supplemented with 10% TI and 10% fat bolus (w/w,TIFB) for 8 wk. subsequently, in the second part of study, four groups of animals belonging to the same generation, age and gender (n=12 per group), were maintained on: AIN-76 control diet (CD); AIN-76 mixed with 10% TI extract (TI); and, mixed with 10% TI and 10% FB (TIFB) for 8 wk, to determine intestinal crypt cell proliferation, functionally-specific enzyme activities, fermentation profile, and energy preferences. REsULTs: We observed a significant increase in the crypt cell production rate in distal colonic segment of experimental animals when compared with the controls. This segment also contained significantly low butyrate levels compared to control and TIFB groups. All the experimental groups showed a gross decrease in the enzyme activities viz., succinate dehydrogenase, acid-galactosidase and dipeptidyl amino peptidase IV demonstrating pathological stress caused by the test regimens, and an altered metabolic flux in the cellular environment. The high-performance computing paradigm needs high-speed switching fabrics to meet the heavy traffic generated by their *** switching fabrics are efficiently driven by the deployed scheduling *** this paper,we proposed two scheduling algorithms for input queued switches whose operations are based on ranking *** first,we proposed a simple 2-Bit(s2B)scheme which uses binary ranking procedure and queue size for scheduling the ***,the Virtual Output Queue(VOQ)set with maximum number of empty queues receives higher rank than other VOQ’*** simulation,we showed s2B has better throughput performance than Highest Ranking First(HRF)arbitration under uniform,and non-uniform traffic *** further improve the throughput-delay performance,an Enhanced 2-Bit(E2B)approach is *** approach adopts an integer representation for rank,which is the number of empty queues in a VOQ *** simulation result shows E2B outperforms s2B and HRF scheduling algorithms with maximum throughput-delay ***,the algorithms are simulated under hotspot traffic and E2B proves to be more efficient.
