Long-term corrosion evolution associated with the structural heterogeneities of an Fe-based amorphous coating in H_(3)BO_(3)solution at various temperatures

Understanding the long-term corrosion behavior of neutron absorber materials in H_(3)BO_(3)solution is crucial for the materials applications in spent fuel *** this paper,long-term corrosion evolution for 180 d in relation to the structural heterogeneities of an Fe-based amorphous coating(AMC)in H_(3)BO_(3)solution at various temperatures was systematically *** indicate that the coating corrosion could be divided into three distinct ***,the corrosion resistance increased owing to the thickening and composition evolution of the passive ***,the corrosion rate was kept almost constant in the second stage,which connected with the steady state of the passive ***,the corrosion resistance of coating reduced gradually owing to the initiation and penetration of local-ized ***,it was revealed that the localized corrosion was initiated at the relatively Cr-depleted amorphous matrix in the deep pores of the *** could be attributed to the synergy of Cr-depletion and occlusive effect in the deep pores during long-term *** the elevation of temperature,the localized corrosion was enhanced due to the accumulation of the H+in the pores to swiftly reach the critical conditions for passive film *** work provides insights into the long-term corrosion mechanism of Fe-based AMCs in H_(3)BO_(3)solution and offers meaningful contributions to the design of new corrosion resistant neutron absorbing coatings for spent fuel storage applications.

The effect of cerium content on the corrosion behavior of Al-Co-Ce amorphous alloys in 0.6 M NaCl solution was investigated by cyclic polarization, Mott-schottky and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy techniques. Results indicated that the open circuit potential of Al-Co-Ce amorphous alloys displayed a decreased tendency with the increase in Ce content, and the amorphous alloy with 4 at.% Ce presented both the lowest passive current density and donor density indicating the best corrosion resistance, while adding excess Ce led to the reduced corrosion resistance of Al-Co-Ce alloys, Furthermore, it was found that a low Ce content is beneficial to the formation of a more protective passive film on Al-Co-Ce amorphous alloys, and the corrosion inhibition reactions of Al-Co-Ce alloys in 0.6 M NaCl solution were changed with the increase in Ce content and the detailed reasons were discussed.

INdIRECT LYMPHOGRAPHY WITH IsOVIsT-300 IN VARIOUs FORMs OF LYMPHEdEMA

Twenty patients with various forms of lymphedema were studied by indirect lymphography. Isovist, a new non-ionic, water-soluble, dimeric contrast media, was used for intradermai infusion. simultaneous indirect lymphography showed characteristic patterns of lymphatics. The initial lymphatics were visualized by intradermal infusion of the newly developed isovist. However, they were not opacified with direct lymphography unless in the presence of valvular insufficiency. No systemic side-effects were observed except for a feeling of discomfort at the injection site. The results showed that indirect lymphography with intradermal infusion of Isovist is useful for demonstrating dermal lymph vessels and for the diagnosis of lymphedema.

The activities of mid-latitude planetary waves(PWs)in the troposphere and lower stratosphere(TLs)are presented by using the radiosonde data from 2000 to 2004 over four American stations(Miramar Nas,32.9°N,117.2°W;santa Teresa,31.9°N,106.7°W;Fort Worth,32.8°N,97.3°W;and Birmingham,33.1°N,86.7°W)and one Chinese station(Wuhan,30.5°N,114.4°E).statistically,strong PWs mainly appear around subtropical jet stream in the troposphere and lower *** the troposphere,the activities of the mid-latitude PWs are strong around the center of the subtropical jet stream in winter and become small near tropopause,which indicates that the subtropical jet stream may strengthen the propagation of PWs or even be one of the PW excitation *** the three disturbance components of temperature,zonal and meridional winds,PWs at Wuhan are stronger in the temperature component but weaker in the zonal wind component than at the other four American *** in the meridional wind component,the strengths of PW spectral amplitudes at the four American stations decrease from west to east,and their amplitudes are all larger than that of ***,the PWs are much weaker in the stratosphere and only the lower frequency parts *** amplitudes of the PWs in the stratosphere increase with height and are strong in winter with the zonal wind component being the *** the refractive index,we found that whether the PWs could propagate upward to the stratosphere depends on the thickness of the tropopause reflection *** the case study of the2000/2001 winter,it is observed that the quasi 16-day wave in the troposphere is a quasi standing wave in the vertical direction and propagates upward slowly with vertical wavelength greater than 24 km in the meridional *** propagates eastward with the zonal numbers between 5 and 8,and the quasi16-day wave at Wuhan is probably the same quasi 16-day wave at the three American stations(MiramarNas,santa Teresa and Fort Wo

Cerebral ischemia is a major health risk that requires preventive approaches in addition to drug *** exercise enhances neurogenesis and synaptogenesis,and has been widely used for functional rehabilitation after *** this study,we determined whether exercise training before disease onset can alleviate the severity of cerebral *** also examined the role of exercise-induced circulating factors in these *** mice were subjected to 14 days of treadmill exercise training before surgery for middle cerebral artery *** found that this exercise pre-conditioning strategy effectively attenuated brain infarct area,inhibited gliogenesis,protected synaptic proteins,and improved novel object and spatial memory *** analysis showed that circulating adiponectin plays a critical role in these preventive effects of *** activation of adiponectin receptors by Adipo Ron mimicked the effects of exercise,while inhibiting receptor activation abolished the exercise *** summary,our results suggest a crucial role of circulating adiponectin in the effects of exercise pre-conditioning in protecting against cerebral ischemia and supporting the health benefits of exercise.

A comprehensive investigation on nonlinear vibration and bending characteristics of bio-inspired helicoidal laminated composite structures

Bio-inspired helicoidal composite laminates, inspired by the intricate helical structures found in nature, present a promising frontier for enhancing the mechanical properties of structural designs. Hence, this study provides a comprehensive investigation into the nonlinear free vibration and nonlinear bending behavior of bio-inspired composite plates. The inverse hyperbolic shear deformation theory(IHsdT) of plates is employed to characterize the displacement field, with the incorporation of Green-Lagrange nonlinearity. The problem is modeled using the C0finite element method(FEM), and an in-house code is developed in the MATLAB environment to solve it numerically. Various helicoidal layup configurations including helicoidal recursive(HR), helicoidal exponential(HE), helicoidal semi-circular(Hs), linear helicoidal(LH), and Fibonacci helicoidal(FH)with different layup sequences and quasi-isotropic configurations are studied. The model is validated, and parametric studies are conducted. These studies investigate the effects of layup configurations, side-to-thickness ratio, modulus ratios, boundary conditions, and loading conditions at different load amplitudes on the nonlinear vibration and nonlinear bending behaviors of bio-inspired composite plates. The results show that the laminate sequence exerts a substantial impact on both nonlinear natural frequencies and nonlinear bending behaviors. Moreover, this influence varies across different side-to-thickness ratios and boundary conditions of the bio-inspired composite plate.

Rechargeable aqueous zinc-metal batteries （AZMBs） are promising candidates for large-scale energy storage systems due to their low cost and high ***,their performance and sustainability are significantly hindered by the sluggish desolvation kinetics at the electrode/electrolyte interface and the corresponding hydrogen evolution reaction where active water molecules tightly participate in the Zn（H2O）62+solvation ***,learnt from self-generated solid electrolyte interphase （sEI） in anodes,the dielectric but ion-conductive zinc niobate nanoparticles artificial layer is constructed on metallic Zn surface （ZNB@Zn）,acting as a rapid desolvation *** zincophilic and dielectric-conductive properties of ZNB layer accelerate interfacial desolvation/diffusion and suppress surface corrosion or dendrite formation,achieving uniform Zn plating/stripping behavior,as confirmed by electronic/optical microscopies and interface spectroscopical measurements together with theoretical ***,the as-prepared ZNB@Zn electrode exhibits excellent cycling stability of over 2000 h and robust reversibility （99.54%） even under high current density and depth of discharge ***,the assembled ZNB@Zn-based full cell displays high capacity-retention rate of 80.21%after 3000 cycles at 5 A g-1and outstanding rate performance up to 10 A *** large-areal pouch cell is stabilized for hundreds of cycles,highlighting the bright prospects of the dielectric but ion-conductive layer in further application of AZMBs.

Any thumb defect with exposure of the deep structures deserves proper repair with a flap. The authors describe 2 types of dorsalis indicis flap which can be satisfactorily used for any defects of the thumb and the first web space. This flap is superior to any previous flaps ever used for thumb repair because of the ease of transferance and high success rate. 6 successful cases are presented to add to the limited number of cases accumulated in the world literature during the past 3 years. Key technical points of flap dissection are elaborated by the authors and the importance of inclusion of 1 artery, 2 veins and l nerve is also stressed for good results.
