Aim:To compare the acute effects of ascorbic acid on vasodilation of veins andarteries in ***:Twenty-six healthy non-smokers and 23 healthy moder-ate smokers were recruited in this *** dorsal hand vein compliance tech-nique and flow-mediated dilation were ***-response curves to bradykininand sodium nitroprusside were constructed to test the endothelium-dependentand-independent relaxation before and after acute infusion of ascorbic ***:smokers had an impaired venodilation with bradykinin compared withnon-smokers(68.3%±13.2% vs 93.7%±20.1%,respectively;Pscorbic acidadministration in the dorsal hand vein significantly increased the venodilationwith bradykinin in smokers(68.3%±13.2% vs 89.5%±6.3% before and after infusion,respectively;Psmokers(93.7%±20.1% vs 86.4%±12.4% be-fore and after infusion,respectively).similarly,the arterial response in smokershad an impaired endothelium-dependent dilation compared with that in non-smok-ers(8.8%±2.7% vs 15.2%±2.3%,respectively;Pscorbic acid restoredthis response in smokers(8.8%±2.7% vs 18.7%±6.5% before and after infusion,respectively;Ps seen in non-smokers(15.2%±2.3% vs14.0%±4.4% before and after infusion,respectively).The endothelium-indepen-dent dilation did not differ in both the groups *** important hemody-namic change was detected using the Portapress ***:smokershad impaired endothelium-dependent vasodilation responsiveness in both arte-rial and venous *** acid restores this responsiveness in smokers.

Near-infrared leaf reflectance modeling of Annona emarginata seedlings for early detection of variations in nitrogen concentration

Nitrogen(N)monitoring is essential in nurseries to ensure the production of high-quality *** spectroscopy(NIRs)is an instantaneous,nondestructive method to monitor *** data such as NIRs can also provide the basis for developing a new vegetation spectral index(VsI).Here,we evaluated whether NIRs combined with statistical modeling can accurately detect early variations in N concentration in leaves of young plants of Annona emargiaata and developed a new VsI for this *** were grown in a hydroponics system with 0,2.75,5.5or 11 mM N for 45 *** we measured gas exchange,chlorophylla fluorescence,and pigments in leaves;analyzed complete leaf nutrients,and recorded spectral data for leaves at 966 to 1685 nm using *** a statistical learning approach,the dimensionality of the spectral data was reduced,then models were generated using two classes(N deficiency,N)or four classes(0,2.75,5.5,11 mM N).The best combination of techniques for dimensionality reduction and classification,respectively,was stepwise regression(PROC sTEPDIsC)and linear discriminant *** was possible to detect N deficiency in seedlings leaves with 100%precision,and the four N concentrations with93.55%accuracy before photosynthetic damage to the plant ***,NIRs combined with statistical modeling of multidimensional data is effective for detecting N variations in seedlings leaves of ***.

Axonal growth inhibitors and their receptors in spinal cord injury:from biology to clinical translation

Axonal growth inhibitors are released during traumatic injuries to the adult mammalian central nervous system, including after spinal cord injury. These molecules accumulate at the injury site and form a highly inhibitory environment for axonal regeneration. Among these inhibitory molecules, myelinassociated inhibitors, including neurite outgrowth inhibitor A, oligodendrocyte myelin glycoprotein, myelin-associated glycoprotein, chondroitin sulfate proteoglycans and repulsive guidance molecule A are of particular importance. Due to their inhibitory nature, they represent exciting molecular targets to study axonal inhibition and regeneration after central injuries. These molecules are mainly produced by neurons, oligodendrocytes, and astrocytes within the scar and in its immediate vicinity. They exert their effects by binding to specific receptors, localized in the membranes of neurons. Receptors for these inhibitory cues include Nogo receptor 1, leucine-rich repeat, and Ig domain containing 1 and p75 neurotrophin receptor/tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 19(that form a receptor complex that binds all myelin-associated inhibitors), and also paired immunoglobulin-like receptor B. Chondroitin sulfate proteoglycans and repulsive guidance molecule A bind to Nogo receptor 1, Nogo receptor 3, receptor protein tyrosine phosphatase σ and leucocyte common antigen related phosphatase, and neogenin, respectively. Once activated, these receptors initiate downstream signaling pathways, the most common amongst them being the Rho A/ROCK signaling pathway. These signaling cascades result in actin depolymerization, neurite outgrowth inhibition, and failure to regenerate after spinal cord injury. Currently, there are no approved pharmacological treatments to overcome spinal cord injuries other than physical rehabilitation and management of the array of symptoms brought on by spinal cord injuries. Its complex dynamical process reflects the strong nonlinearity of the Navier–stokes equation,which is a millennium math problem. Vortex quasi-crystals in mesoscopic superconducting samples

There seems to be a one to one correspondence between the phases of atomic and molecular matter（AMOM） and vortex matter（VM） in superfluids and superconductors. Crystals, liquids, and glasses have been experimentally observed in both AMOM and VM. Here, we propose a vortex quasi-crystal state which can be stabilized due to boundary and surface energy effects for samples of special shapes and sizes. For finite sized pentagonal samples, it is proposed that a phase transition between a vortex crystal and a vortex quasi-crystal occurs as a function of magnetic field and temperature as the sample size is reduced.

Evidence-based Practice of Chinese Medicine in Physical Rehabilitation science

Chinese medicine is among other traditional medical systems practiced either as a coadjutant intervention to Greek medicine or as the unique therapeutic intervention for illness prevention, treatment or rehabilitation. The complete spectrum from that traditional system includes acupuncture and moxibustion, herbal and food therapy, massage therapy （tuina）, physical exercises （taijiquan）, and breathing exercises （qigong）. In this article, it is presented several randomized controlled trials and systematic reviews on the application of all therapeutic modalities from Chinese medicine in the physical rehabilitation scenario. The discussed studies encompasses both ＂positive＂ and ＂negative＂ results of Chinese medicine intervention for disabilities due to illnesses of the nervous, musculoskeletal or cardiovascular systems. Additionally, the importance of the personalized approach for Chinese medicineand rehabilitation is emphasized together with the need for reproducible methods for pattern differentiation and intervention selection. Chinese medicine resources are recognized as promising methods for therapeutic rehabilitation and can be incorporated into the rehabilitation science. The wide variety of therapeutic resources explains why Chinese medicine is currently a multidisciplinary practice for health protection and promotion, early diagnosis and treatment as well as rehabilitation with roles in the public health care system.

Objective: To evaluate gene polymorphisms and their association with susceptibility to ***: A retrospective case-control study was performed with 262 subjects,comprising 78 dengue fever(DF) patients, 49 dengue hemorrhagic fever(DHF) patients and 135 healthy controls. Genotypic and allelic profiles were identified using polymerase chain reaction based in real time and amplification-refractory mutation ***: We observed a protective association of IL-10(-819 C/T) C allele(P = 0.028,OR = 0.56, CI = 0.34–0.91) against DHF, while the C/T(P = 0.047, OR = 2.10,CI = 1.01–4.38) and T/T(P = 0.008, OR = 3.82, CI = 1.38–10.59) genotypes were associated with DHF and DF, respectively. The dominant model TNFA-308 GA + AA(P = 0.043, OR = 0.45, CI = 0.20–1.00) genotypes were found to have protective effect against dengue infection. A protective association among the IFNG(+874 A/T) A/T genotype against DF(P = 0.02, OR = 0.46, CI = 0.24–0.89) and DHF(P = 0.034,OR = 0.43, CI = 0.19–0.95) was observed. When the studied single-nucleotide polymorphism was analyzed in combination, the combination GTA(P = 0.022, OR = 2.95,CI = 1.18–7.41) was statistically significantly associated with susceptibility to DF and the combination GCT(P = 0.035, OR = 0.28, CI = 0.08–0.90) with protection against the development of ***: This research identifies the association of the IFNG(+874 A/T), TNFA(-308 G/A), IL-10(-819 C/T) genotypes as a factor for protection, susceptibility and severity to dengue.
