A hybrid GMDH neural network model has been developed in order to predict the partition coefficients of invertase from Baker's yeast. ATPs experiments were carried out changing the molar average mass of PEG(1500–6000 Da), p H(4.0–7.0), percentage of PEG(10.0–20.0 w/w), percentage of MgsO_4(8.0–16.0 w/w), percentage of the cell homogenate(10.0–20.0 w/w) and the percentage of MnsO_4(0–5.0 w/w) added as cosolute. The network evaluation was carried out comparing the partition coefficients obtained from the hybrid GMDH neural network with the experimental data using different statistical metrics. The hybrid GMDH neural network model showed better fitting(AARD = 32.752%) as well as good generalization capacity of the partition coefficients of the ATPs than the original GMDH network approach and a BPANN model. Therefore hybrid GMDH neural network model appears as a powerful tool for predicting partition coefficients during downstream processing of biomolecules.

In this study the potential of cloud point extraction formed by a non-ionic surfactant was used in order to separate polyphenols from industrial residues of camu-camu. The effects of operational conditions of the cloud point extraction(CPE) on the polyphenol recovery and volumetric ratio were investigated. The results showed a maximum recovery of 95.71% that was obtained using 7.0 wt% Triton X-114, native pH(3.25), and 80 wt%polyphenol extract at 30 °C. The use of cloud point extraction was successful to recover the polyphenols from agroindustrial residue since it is a simple as well as of low-cost technique.

The textile industry is a pioneer in the industrialization process in Brazil and is relevant to the Brazilian economy. However, it also generates as operational residue a solid waste,commonly called textile sludge. Pavement construction, which mobilizes large volumes of soil, constitutes an alternative to the reuse of residue, especially when stabilization is involved. The use of stabilized soils with the addition of waste can provide technical,economic and environmentally friendly advantages. This research aimed to study the use of chemical stabilization technique with sludge and three additives(lime, cement and asphalt emulsion) applied in base and subbase of pavements. The scope of this study was divided into four phases, i) characterization tests, ii) physical stabilization, iii) chemical stabilization and determination of heavy metals in the sludge, and iv) addition of 10% of textile sludge and chemical stabilizers(lime, cement, and asphalt emulsion) in amounts of 3%, 5% and 7% as additives in a soil, based on the results obtained in the second phase. Test results indicated that the stabilization of mixtures of soil with textile sludge has the potential to be used in pavement layers(base and subbase). The addition of cement promotes the best chemical stabilization for the sludge. The use of textile sludge stabilization presents greater environmental benefits, given the malfunctions and problems that the incorrect waste disposal can cause to the environment.

Purpose: To verify evidence of subclinical alterations through self-reported participation restrictions in normal hearing individuals and congenital hypothyroidism ***: An analytical, quantitative, cross-sectional exploratory study with a 1:1 ratio, consisting of a convenience sample of 86 normal hearing individuals with(n = 42) and without(n = 44) congenital hypothyroidism diagnosis. All participants underwent tonal and speech audiometry, immitance and distortion product otoacoustic emissions. The researchers excluded people with hearing loss, genetic syndromes and metabolic diseases. The instrument used for evaluate of self-reported participation restrictions was the HHIE-adapted questionnaire, composed of 25 questions, 12 of which were social domain and 13 emotional domain. student's ttest and chi-square test were used for statistical analysis at a significance level of 5%.Results: There was a significant(p self-reported participation restrictions in CH(61.9%), with a greater relevance for the social domain(p = 0.002). There was a greater frequency of mild/moderate(40.5%)and higher prevalence of association with clinical factors and adherence to ***: The findings indicate that self-reported participation restrictions in normal hearing individuals with congenital hypothyroidism was more significant than in the non-exposed group, suggesting evidence of subclinical auditory abnormalities in this population.

BACKGROUND The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic has become a major health concern *** that context,the understanding of epidemiological and clinical features associated with the disease and its severity is crucial for the establishment of strategies aimed at disease control and *** To describe epidemiological features,signs,symptoms,and laboratory findings among severely ill COVID-19 patients from an inten-sive care unit in northeastern Brazil as well as to evaluate predictor factors for disease *** This is a prospective single-center study that evaluated 115 patients admitted to the intensive care unit in a northeastern Brazilian *** The patients had a median age of 65.60±15.78 *** was the most frequent symptom,affecting 73.9%of the patients,followed by cough(54.7%).Fever was reported in approximately one-third of patients and myalgia in 20.8%of the *** least two comorbidities were found in 41.7%of the patients,and hypertension was the most prevalent(57.3%).In addition,having two or more comorbidities was a predictor of mortality,and lower platelet count was positively associated with *** and vomiting were two symptoms that were predictors of death,and the presence of a cough was a protective *** This is the first report of a negative correlation between cough and death in severely ill severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2-infected *** associations between comorbidities,advanced age,and low platelet count and the outcomes of the infection were similar to the results of previous studies,highlighting the relevance of these features.

The seridóBelt,at the extreme northeast of Brazil,is one of the several Neoproterozoic mobile belts related to the Brasiliano/Pan-African Orogeny in Western *** lithostratigraphy of the seridóBelt comprises basal quartzites and metaconglomerates(Equador Formation)overlain by hornblende-bearing paragneisses,calc-silicate rocks and marbles(jucurutu Formation)and biotiteschists(seridóFormation).We investigated the sedimentary provenance of these rocks based on an integration of compiled whole-rock geochemistry,sm-Nd isotopes,U-Pb detrital zircon ages and a new set of whole-rock trace elements *** Formation quartzites have major and trace elements patterns that resemble cratonic sandstones,with a typical felsic provenance consistent with the isotopic composition of plutonic Archean to Paleoproterozoic basement *** proxies suggest that these rocks were deposited in fresh waters under anoxic conditions and moderate to intense weathering conditions(CIA=58–79).A shift in provenance led to an increase in intermediate-mafic sources during the deposition of the jucurutu and seridó*** elements from rock types in these units are nearly identical,yet they differ on the contents of some high field-strength elements(e.g.,sc,V and Ni),which are higher in the seridóFormation than average *** proxies show similar depositional environments,with brackish to marine conditions for the jucurutu and seridóformations under anoxic to euxinic *** conditions are consistently lower in the jucurutu Formation(CIA=58–66)in comparison with the seridóFormation(CIA=60–88).Compiled U-Pb data suggest maximum depositional ages of 633±11 Ma and 633±6 Ma for jucurutu and seridóformations,respectively,suggesting deposition following the ca.645–635 Ma Marinoan *** compared the geochemistry of the seridóFormation schists with currently exposed basement rocks and showed a strong affinity with Neoproterozoic arc-related
